With a look and feel that most of us have come to love, these boards are sure to become the defacto Houston Texans home on the internet.

I was amused to see that I was able to log in without registering. I don't know if that's a result of having already been a member of TT, or if the admins were somehow able to migrate my account from the old 'official' boards, but it could not have felt more like home when auto complete filled in the rest of my user name, and my password popped up as it always did before.

BRAVO!!!!

*edit* After I posted, I saw my old avatar and had a PM from Vinny, and realized that I had all of my old account settings.
Thanks V, for that.
As I said before, it had the exact feel of the old boards when I logged in and IMO that is a VERY good thing.
I know that's what you were shooting for, and let me say that you split the previous arrow down the center, Robinhood...

Everyone will be more than pleased to reclaim their history from the old boards.

Again, BRAVO!!!!

I think its looking real good. I'll still be on the "other" board until this one is live, but I'm trying to spend more and more time here.

Heck its worth coming over to this board just for the smileys! :woot2:

Actually I'm disappointed, the threads from the original Texans Talk are gone. Why is this? It just seems like the houstontexans.com message board took over our board.

I agree. This has the feel of the old "official" board. I had @ 1300 post on Texans Talk and only @100 on Houston Texans. com That was for a reason. Texans Talk felt like a closer group of people, not just a mass of Mods and casual fans.

No AFC South forum
No smack forum

It's like the the difference between Charlie Patillo and John/Lance. One is pompas and says welcome Titans and Cowboys and the other says Screw the Cowboys.

It doesn't feel like home any more.

Well, I hear the Houston Pro Football site is gonna take over your old Texans Talk site, and then the Texans website will take over theirs. :panic:

I believe it was a software compatibility issue rather than a decision to slight the history of one site vs. the other. vbulletin is the premier MB software and a big piece of building an expanded, joint, Texans' community. I certainly understand how you feel but this is about building a strong, expanding, joint community.

As for comments about one MB vs. the other, my suggestion (not that this will be listened to most likely on either side) is folks should lay comparisons aside for a month in terms of character and should concentrate on function, setup and exploring this joint venture rather than building division at the outset.

The thing is, you and the others of the official board still have your history. Those of us from Texans Talk lost our history. We no longer have a "home" on what was our "home" board.

One minute we are welcoming new refugies from the "official" board who could not fully use the new "official" board because they had dial up and the next minute our board goes down for a week and comes back as a 2nd official board.

Totally understand where you are coming from. I just think there were technical limitations such that it was one or the other and this software (which happened to be the old official software) is the Bentley of MB software and so is a better launching platform for the Texans fan community we hope to build and support.

No group of people over 1, i.e. no group, is ever happy with every decision, but I hope folks understand there are limitations and decisions that have to be made.

Aside from the history issue, what do you think about the look and feel of the place?

its the first day, and frankly I am just glad to be back on Texans Talk. Even if it has changed somewhat. Modifications were made, and it will take some getting used to. Most of the special function buttons are still in the same place, so I can post a quote, or link, etc without it being TOTALLY new. Smilies are easy to access for those who prefer to use them generously.

Sorry to see the old posts gone, myself. But I don't think there was much in them that we can't replace with some new ones, given time.

Now if we can just get a squirt of 'New Carr Smell' in here, we will be able to test drive this puppy and see what she is capable of.

there's some old board flavor for ya, me taking a shot at Carr, even after he's gone. :D

First off, I want to apologize to the long time Texans Talkers for the old board and posts being gone. It was a necessary thing that had to be done. The old board software was crashing the server. Quite honestly, if TexansTalk.com wouldn't have be rebuilt the way it was just rebuilt it would have probably just gone away.

Another issue with TexansTalk.com was the quality of the threads and posts had gone down hill. The board was flooded with non relevant topics followed by replies with no substance or relevant topics that were quickly highjacked by off topic replies. Serious fans were having issues posting there because of these issues and honestly many were being turned off. I do accept the blame for that. Instead of fixing this problem I just started participating more on the official board and neglecting TT. Gr8fan did an excellent job modding however I had only instructed him to watch for vulgar content and other obvious things. No one was policing the quality of the board.

The best board was the Tailgating Board because it was being used by the old Blue Crew folks. There was no way to move the threads from that board to here due to the software differences however we have tried to accomodate those fans by giving them there own board here in the Tailgating section. I will do all I can to make those guys happy. I love the Blue Crew (now Platinum) folks and I hope they stay.

I also want everyone to know that my role has changed quite a bit. I still own TexansTalk.com and am hosting the site, however TT is being run by a team of fans. While I have input, I had little to do with the redesign. I am also not making singlehanded decisions anymore. Changes and design features are being voted on by the "Texans Talk Team" in a private forum. Honestly, this was my original idea and purpose with Texans Talk however it never materialized.

When Vinny told me that he had a team of fans wanting to do this project I felt the timing and fit was right. The bottom line was TT was not going to continue in it's previous state. This project has saved TT and I think is going to make it more popular than ever because now it is truly "run by the fans for the fans".

With all this in mind, everyone can still feel free to contact me directly with any issues and ideas. I am sure we can accomodate most here.

Personally, I want to thank Hookem for having the vision and guts to suggest and try to make this merger work, knowing the hard feelings and difficulties to be overcome, to Vinny, Khari, Shawn and others who have put so much time in designing the place in a very short time period, to all the fans who have come in and contributed their time and technical skills designing avatars, etc., to all the folks who have volunteered money (ummm, kicks toe in dirt, my check is in the mail, really) to support this new venture, to the mods from both sites and last but most importantly to all the fans for whom the Texans are most important point of the whole venture.

Big picture here folks--we're avid Texans fans.

Hookem, I think you should paste your comments in a new thread and sticky it in each forum. Being one of the new people here, I would hate there to be any hard feelings from the regulars...
having just gone through the trauma of having our boards gutted, I can more than sympathize with the way folks might feel.
I hope (and also truly believe) that after people get used to the changes, they will appreciate what is in place here now...

i couldnt agree more. those of us moving here from the old texans forums know exactly what it's like to feel wiped out and we definitely dont want that for our new friends here. basically both sites were on their way out, houstontexans already fell off of a cliff and, as hookem said, texanstalk was standing on the edge ... these fine folks resurrected both for us and i for one couldnt be happier. my honest condolences for not being able to save more of texanstalk, but i'm positive that this site is going to be the number one texans website on the net by combining what was best from both.

Can't thank you guys enough for your hard work recreating what I felt was a fantastic message board. I understand the Texans wishing to upgrade their website with the total intergration of message boards and homepage, but for me, it just doesn't seem as user friendly or visually appealing. This looks so much better! I don't post often, I'm the proverbial lurker, but it's good to see names I recognize and opinions I respect, again thanks folks! :)

I welcome the change. The old TT board turned south a long time ago. It became unreadable to many, and totally unmanageable. It's nice to see it brought back to respectability and given a new lease on life. I like what I see.

Yep, I have always knew it and here is the proof. This is the Blue Crew board, not for all Texans fans?????? Are you supporting just the Blue Crew, just the Blue lot or what are you supporting???? All the love for the Blue Crew and not for all Texans fans?????? Why don't you put Blue Crew on the banner on the front page?????

Not that this helps any but I will give some reps to the old gaurd of Texantalk just for having to go through this. I had only been at the old board of our beloved team for a short while because I did not know it was there. I was at of all ungodly places espn, so I went to houstontexans and fell in love with a lot of the talk and began to hate certain people because of the vile they spewed in a personnal manner not in a football manner.

Now a lot of you I see talked about the direction of the way things were going, and I know what it is like to be on something that you love and see it going in a direction you are trying to avoid but can do nothing about. (long time gamer and officer in gaming .. many years ago) So i know how and what you feel like when things take a turn toward what you do not like.

Like I said I am not some old timer but I know what I like and want, between Vinny and hookem (can you believe i am prasing a longhorn :joker: ) they have a great plan and a direction of what they want to do (forgive me forgeting others) just like the team has an actual direction. think about it like this the tem has a new direction and purpose and so does our community.

I hope this makes the old guard of TexansTalk feel some what better and know that people do understand there plight.

:texflag: :toast2:

If you tried reading what Hookem said as hard as you try to be offended on behalf of the Orange Lot you would see that Hookem made the decision to give up those Blue Crew threads and potentially some of the TT members in order to build a better MB for all Texans fans, which by the way proves exactly the opposite of what you are asserting.

But hey if the color coding of a piece of cement is worth division among Texans fans, how about we come up with some more like aisle sitters vs. non aisle sitters and front halves vs. back halves.

Very well put.:redtowel:

Why does this have to be a color issue with you guys?

We all love orange. If it were not for orange, we would not be able to spot excaped convicts.:stirpot:

Ditto with the above concerning the loss of the original TT. As I was an "other board" poster more than TT - I didn't dig the loss of our home, so I can sympathize with those original TTr's of losing their previous home as well.

But heck, with having some of the best "faces" of moderation out there in Vinny and Hookem, and DEFINITELY no offense to other mods, along with the quality posters from each board joining up - I think this place will really take off (even with the occasional troll and "man crush" fan strolling in).

Thanks again to those that made this happen and thanks to the original TTr's for allowing us "outsiders" to come in and join your community. Let's take the best of both boards and bring them in here. I'm sure if you get in touch with a mod here and let them know your thoughts for improvement, that there will be a quick amendment to the site.

Change is always difficult, in all aspects of football life. I just accept it and move on. I am just happy Kevin decided to expand, rather than shut down TT completely. I'll just leave it up to the mods to keep the jerks from the old MMB in control. If I start seeing umpteen million repetitious negative based threads, I just might have to :gun: some mods!! J/K!!!! Maybe we need a TEXAN BASHING forum just so we can keep all the hate threads in one place.

Hopefully, our mods will make this the best MB on the net!! As a diehard TEXAN fan, I am ready for ALL the changes that have been made this year! Leave the old behind and move on with the new. That's the only way to survive in this game we all love so much!!

I was a member of both boards. I did most of my reading and posting on the Texans MB. . :user:

If losing my 'history' on TT is the only price I have to pay to have these changes to TT I am all for it. . :thumbup

Some of my 'history' is best lost anyway. Especially on the 'other' site.

Maybe we posters can use this opportunity to begin anew in this 'post Carr' era. Forget old feuds, because now you can't prove anything I said in the past..:D

:coffee:

Uh Oh Just checked. My posts from the other board followed me here.

Oh well, you gonna believe me or your lying eyes?
