questions

Hey guys i allways love to hear your imput, and i have some questions regarding future moves.

1. How do you think the line baking core will be set up who goes where and when?

2.offensive line, where do we put everyone and who do you think starts?

3. fs, cb, and wr would be our biggest needs imo what order do we get them in the draft?
:poker:

thanks for anyones feedback

Well my baking core, er corps, just turned out some brownies for me last night.

The Texan's Line backer corps...I'm hoping that my new man love child, Quincy Black is very high on the end of April wish list.

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/olb/quincyblack.html

He's a numbers guy. But the numbers are very very good.
4.42 forty...forty inch vertical ect. , ect.
'08 starters:

Demeeco Ryans Will. Quincy Black Sam/Mike. Pick one.

Salaam Pitts Flannery Weary Winston

Charles Spencer, untill I hear other wise, is my Wong canidate to start the season on IR.

Mid October:
Spencer Pitts Flannery Weary Winston

With out a doubt CB. Unless they fall in love with Ambi's OK...that should be the pick. Their choice of the first front line cover corners on the board.

DeMeco, Greenwood (Barber in his place on passing downs), Clark

2.offensive line, where do we put everyone and who do you think starts?

Salaam, Pitts, Flannagan, Weary, Winston

midseason

Spencer, Pitts, Weary, Winston, Black

3. fs, cb, and wr would be our biggest needs imo what order do we get them in the draft?
WR Dwayne Jarrett in the first (True playmaker, Walter is too slow)
CB Damien Hughes in the Third (incredible CB, a steal in the third)
FS Aaron Rouse in the 4th if not an OG (second round quality FS...should drop)

:poker:

thanks for anyones feedback

That's my best possible scenario.

sorry about the spelling not my best subject.

what about jordon black??? isnt he better than salaam and for someone on spelling it is flannigan not flannery

and danny clark does he fit in somewhere or is he just depth?

i know the guy we got from the eagles will probably just be a passing situation guy.

FLANAGAN.

We'll have to see how Jordan Black works out. He wasn't all that great with the Chefs. He was only starting because of injuries and, iirc, had problems beating out an out of shape and underweight Turley for the job.

Hey I got the Irish correct.

Okay he's my 2 cents...

Ol
first off Jordan Black is on upgrade over Ephraim Salaam. Yes ES did a solid job last year and Black was the goat of the Chiefs after he got abused by Dwight Freeney in the playoffs. But we are talking about one of the best in the NFL and HEdwards is a dork for allowing him to go one on one, plus he is projected to be a better fit in ZBS. So those 2 are the LTs until Spencer is healthy. The interior should be Pitts/ Flanagan/ Weary and say what you will about McKinney, but the guy is awesome to have off the bench because he can play all 3 spots.

CB
I do not know why people really want us to take a FS ahead of some of the top CBs. I do not understand that logic. We really need another CB. Only if Faggins is consider a starter (which I doubt), then only an early day 2 pick is needed for a nickel. Right the canidates to be the nickel would be Wynn, Roc, Hutchins, mcKenzie, all unproven. McCleon has not resigned yet. CB is such a critical position I really think the TExans go CB in the first but I do understand the BPA mode of thinking

LB
Clark was signed to be a starter, he felt screwed by the Saints and never felt he had a chance to compete for a starting spot. It looks like Wong will be cut after June 1 so the cap hit will not be as severee. So Greenwood, Ryans, Clark should be the starters. However some feel the coaching staff is not high on Greenwood and he will be replaced. Barber, Orr, and Anderson all should compete for the 3 backup spots. Polk and Evans are UFAs.

ok I have a question. What if we do pick Hall or a stud corner do you think we can move Flanagan(how ever you spell it) to free safety until say a rookie that we draft later (second day or something) can fill in. Im just wondering I know that the corner position is much harder to play then say the free safety IMO.

linebackers are fairly up in the air. rainer was the defensive team leader last training camp but didnt make it to preseason due to injury. because of that and age concerns he's backing up ryans but a major guy in a leadership and attitude role. orr and greenwood are the incumbants with barber & clark taking backup roles. what we need here is an outside linebacker in the draft. we hurt in youth and athleticism, especially in our interior and flats zone coverage. a rounds 3-5 pick needs to be used here and i expect several young castoffs to be signed here around training camp to try and find a gem. if we do land another starter, expect to see orr with a hand on the ground on passing downs replacing peek as an undersized pass rusher. while our starting talent is sub-par, we're actually doing well as far as depth with the 4 players mentioned along with anderson and evans. side note - i couldnt be happier with the way kubiak and smith are doing things, instead of being the redskins trying to maximize a few players, we're doing well upgrading overall team talent ... 53 players who can come in and contribute.

offensive line is complicated. it begins and ends with charles spencer. there are only 2 possibilities here ... either big nasty's career is over, or it isnt. if his knee wont heal, our #10 pick needs to go here whether it's a reach or not. if he's expected to play at any point, it'd be a waste to draft that high for a temporary fix. with weigert cut before the draft, winston has taken over the right tackle position. we have our bookends ... we should use a late round pick to try and add youth, but for once (major coming from me) tackle isnt a need. what we need is interior. flanagan has no legs, and mckinney's only good for 2 or 3 games per season so center is a need. what would be nice is if we start working with weary ASAP to take over the center position and focus on acquiring a guard in the 3-4 rounds in the draft and/or focusing here after june 1. black is known as "I-65" as a left tackle, but all that i've heard from kansas city says his build and abilities (along with a little experience) have him better suited for guard position. IF we play more of a pure zone blocking system, flanagan is going to excell because he's an exceptionally smart and quick (not fast) run blocker, and also smart in the passing game directing traffic. if we run sherman's offense, flanagan's going to get flattened again. going into the season we're going to be SALAAM - PITTS - FLANAGAN - WEARY - WINSTON. mid-season if i have my say, we're going to be SPENCER - PITTS - WEARY - DRAFT/JUNE 1ST - WINSTON. salaam and black arent my choice backups, but they're utility men which kubiak loves, and i trust kubiak's judgement.

my opinion's well documented on the free safety/cornerback situation. basically i feel a centerfielder turns our bad cornerbacks into great cornerbacks. if faggins can play an aggressive underneath zone, he's excellent at reading quarterbacks ... where others disagree is that faggins simply isnt athletic enough to man up, which is where our centerfielder covers his weaknesses. what we dont have is talent and athleticism deep center. for those that argue, watch the bills and colts games again and tell me where we got beat. interior seam zone and out posts. with probably two top tier free safety prospects available for us in the first round, i think we should draft nelson or landry with our first pick.

wide receiver isnt a top priority nomatter how fun of a position it is. we have legit targets in AJ, putz, daniels, walters, anderson, and it's guaranteed we'll test several more guys during camp. also, the last "complimentary" wide receiver that kubiak took early was ashlee lelie, so it wouldnt suprise me to see kubiak & smith be a little hesitant about drafting here early. much like with linebacker, expect a lot of walkons and a 7th rounder (or supplimental picks) to be used here hoping for a gem.

being a 300+ pound center, i dont think flanagan would make much of a free safety. :joker:

the player you're thinking of is demarcus faggins. and no. faggins is a very instinctual player, but he'd have the same (or less) effect as marcus coleman. faggins is not very athletic and if playing deep would bite very often on play action and pump fakes, along with not being any help in the rushing game (or in a zone blitz). faggins is an ideal underneath zone corner, but that's all he is. in that one area, he's a great and if he has support behind him can be a real threat, but if left alone faggins can be a liability especially against speedy receivers.

1. as far as linebacking goes, i see a rotation occuring between barber and orr on strong side outside with ryans in the middle and greenwood on the opposite.

2. LT Spencer if he can go or it will be Salaam LG Pitts C Flanagan RG Weary RT Salaam or Winston if Spencer can't go.

3. FS Brown...he is okay as long as he isn't a cover Safety, CB Robinson and Leon Hall out of Michigan. SS will be Glenn he is money. WR Johnson, Mathis, Andersen, and Joe Schmoe out of wherever we draft him from.

is that what he runs?

Yes, and I have seen him get behind the DBs with separation. Did you not watch the bengals vs steelers in the playoffs?

I also remember when Denver played Cinci in Cinci on Monday night and Kevin blew past Champ Bailey on a punt coverage when Champ lined up on him 1 one 1, that did not happen for the rest of the game.

One other thing, the guy from USC runs a 4.6

He has Ed McCafferey written all over him.

huh I just didnt know much about him. I would love to give him a chance but I also think we need to get another play maker and let the two of them battle it out for the #2 spot.

What ever happened to Sam Cowart?

cowart was cut during the preseason

rainer was the other "old" linebacker brought in last year. rainer immediately took over a leadership role but got injured, expect to hear the same of him taking over leading the D during training camp and directly tutoring ryans.

ARGH, posts like THESE are the reason why we need a laughing emoticon...

the best part was the lack of "i'm kidding" at the end... priceless post!

That I agree with 100%... You have to have competition because that only makes everyone stronger as a player. wouldn't it be great to have 3 key WRs on the team. Now only have to get a line to develop and protect the QB and get that running game consistent to be able to take advantage of Play action. then we have a winning offense!!!
