Schaub v. Sage

Practice Squad
I just wanted to put this out there but the read on the Falcons site is a lot like what it would be if we traded Rosenfels instead of Carr. Basically people think we overpayed, big time, but the only people that are crying are the ones that believed in Schaub playing over Vick. At first I thought this meant Schaub is a quality player, but then I noticed that people on the Texans board say the same stuff about Rosenfels. And since Rosenfels will never start here it made me start thinking that Schaub is over hyped and whether I would be happy if someone gave the Texans 2 second rounders and traded first with the Texans for Sage. I would be thrilled, and I would feel guilty for stealing from the other team. That said the FO better know what it is doing and Schaub better be worth it.

I hope this turns out like the Rudy Gay/Stromile Swift for Shane Battier move the Rockets did this season. No one liked the trade but clearly it was a good move and has helped the Rockets.

Ya a bunch of fans on a message board know more than NFL scouts and FO personell. Name me the TEAM that thinks Sage is as good or has as much upside as Schaub. Schaub is so bad that his own team tendered him the maximum offer possible. Many teams wanted his services because they think he is a starter. I swear sometimes I hate message boards. :brickwall

While the old saying "backup QBs are the most popular player on a team" certainly resonates, I think two things should be considered about getting Shaub: many teams wanted him as a starter (meaning that a lot of scouting departments and coaches have looked and studied his play), and Kubiak is choosing him. I have a lot of confidence in our HC to make a good judgement on QBs, but that's just my take.

Schaub has been on one team behind a franchise player. He was/is a hot commodity. His own team gave him the highest tender.

Rosenfels has bounced around and never been able to hold a starting job even on badly QBed teams. His teams show him the door every couple of years.

Neither of them is a sure thing, but the odds are higher of Schaub being the man.

SWEET!!!

Gone are the
Carr v. Sage threads

and replaced with the
Schaub v. Sage threads....

You know what the message board needs... a personal profile with your preferences on the hotly debated topics to summarize everyone's stance on the hotly contested issues.

(1) Schaub or Sage... check one
(2) Mario: Bust or worst the wait
(3) Smith/Kubiak: good job or bad job

It would be a good one page synopsis from each person encapsulting their viewpoints... it might be cause to replace the Schaub vs. Sage threads and all threads to come.

Schaub or Sage... SAGE is NOT a starting NFL QB, check Schaub

Mario...the jury is out, but he look decent even hurt(I said DECENT not superstar)

The FO/HC...so far they pulled 6wins out of nothing, and got a QB who isn't beaten to a pulp...so far so good.

First, Sage has never had the starting job-getting 2 starts in his career to replace an injured player. Second, as far as bounced around, Sage has been traded once and signed as a free agent once.

think about this guys: schaub is a player that every team in the league looked at as a quarterback who could start anywhere in the NFL. you guys got that one player. there are a lot of jealous teams out there.

rosenfels is a backup. couldn't supplant the likes of jay fiedler, a.j. feeley and gus frerotte in miami, just what do some of you expect him to do here?

PLeasssssssse, give these guys some insight, you guys had him in Miami, I don't know why some of our fans are so hot under the collar for him to start, especially after yesterday's trade.

Since Kubes has made this move, I think it says all that needs to be said about Sage's starting potential; meaning there is none.

I really like that idea!!
