Mock...suggestions?

1-Laron Landry FS
2-Victor Abiamiri DE
3-David Irons/Josh Wilson CB
4-Mike Walker WR
5-Mario Henderson/Gabe Hall/Allen Barbre/Brandon Frye OT
6-Clifton Ryan DT

i couldnt find an OT worth taking in the 2nd or 3rd, hence the late selection. I didnt take a QB either, because i think both players selected in the 2nd and 3rd would equate to more wins this year than either Stanton or Kolb. Unless Carr gets dealt for a 3rd rounder (which i would use on a QB), it's a battle between him and Sage. Look at it this way, we won 6 games with a crappy QB/crappy offense and a mediocre-horrendous defense. We've added a decently successful RB to help the offense and Spencer is looking to make a comeback. We beef up the defense to be not so horrendous and see how many games we can win. Any suggestions?

Option A / Option B

1. Levi Brown / Brady Quinn
2. Brandon Meriweather / Anthoney Gonzalez
3. Kevin Kolb / Kenny or David Irons (i dunno if kenny can fall that far)
4. DeMarcus "Tank" Tyler
5. Mario Henderson
6. OT of someones choice

I think the first round should be a toss up between Laron Landry the better prospect and Levi Brown the bigger need.

Landry or Okoye is our biggest need, followed by WR. We only have one true d-lineman (Mario) and an average veteran in Weaver. We have more solid o-lineman than we do d-lineman.

I don't like Irons or Wilson in the 3rd. I don't think Irons is skilled enough to warrant a 3rd round pick for us, and Wilson reminds me too much of Philip Buchanon, he's too soft.

I think you could probably find a better player in the 4th, likely there would be a better WR available but I obviously don't know that.

Brandon Frye would be a very nice pick in the 5th round if he was available there, Allen Barbre would also be a good fit and a decent pick for us there.

I can't complain about taking Landry and Abiamiri.

i kind of agree that wilson and irons may not be the answers, but they will most likely be the best CB's available in the 3rd round at our spot. i would take a CB in the 2nd, but i think our DLine needs much more help than our secondary, especially after we take Landry to beef up the secondary. i think Irons is a guy who doesnt have a whole lot of physical gifts, but he's always around the action and he has pretty good instincts. as far as wilson goes, you're the first person who ive heard call him soft. he may get outmuscled because of his size, but its not because he's soft IMO.

I am with you on 1,2 & 5. We differ on 3,4 &6 as you can see from my sig.

well i dont think we need a RB right now, especially with green and taylor and maybe gado or whoever. id put WR as a higher priority than the 6th round.

Not bad. thank you for at least considering OT. Maybe Daniel Spavuda with he 6th ? They're kinda loaded at OT with the blacK signing. Take a flyer on one of the RB's in the seventh...or a LB special teams guy that blew away the forty at the combine ?

Here ya go Mr. #6 for us in '07:

Chriss Henry Arizona.

so now that we know who he is you ignore him?

no, im just saying why would you pick a guy when you've never even heard of him before, especially in the 4th when he's from a small school. if you can get a scouting report on the guy, then id consider it, but i wouldnt pick someone before i did any research on him.

and we might as well pick that kid from arizona who blew up the workouts in the 3rd instead of darius walker

Agreed. Be a lot happier if we gambled a day two pick on Chriss Henry of Az. He is a work out warrior. But the numbers are danged hard to ignore. I 'm sure he moved up a lot of draft boards with that preformance. If they can teach him to block....bargin for sure. At the worst you've got a specail teams deamond on the cheap.

I'm not suggesting we draft Michel McFaddin, but I hope they bring him in as a FA.

i was actually being sarcastic about henry in the 3rd

htown I didn't realize you were going to take the Brown pick so personal. You have your reasons for selecting your picks and have mine. After seeing what Brown did at his pro day I checked to see what he did on the field. He had 7 INTs as a Jr and only 1 as a senior. I am assuming that since Brown is so big, fast and strong, teams were throwing away from him. Based on that I thought he would be good for a day 2 pick.

You don't like Walker, I don't like the fact that all the Texans long term answer for a RB is a couple of short term band aids. I like Walker vs Pittman for a long term solution based on the fact that Pittman only had 3 runs for over 20 and Walker had twice as many. Pittman is faster but Walker has a better burst. The Emmit Smith ran 4.6 principle.

The kid from Arizona didn't do it on the field Walker did and was consistent and Brown had 7 INTS as a JR.:)

brown also played at a tiny school called cal poly. david irons did it in the SEC. i mean, yea the kid put up some good production his jr year, and yea maybe teams didnt throw his way as much, but im still wary of spending a 4th rounder on a guy i never heard of who jumped up based on his pro day. id also look into what type of defensive scheme they use up there.

as far as walker goes, i agree that we need a real starting back for our future, but i dont see a bit of difference between what walker can do and what chris taylor can do. we do need a premiere back to carry the load, but it's not walker. we have more pressing needs than an RB right now, especially in the 3rd round. i think next year's crop of offensive players will easily trump this class outside of WR's and we could take a QB and RB combo in the 1st and 2nd round like Brohm or Booty and then choose from a handful of running backs. if i had to take a RB at all this draft, it would be brandon jackson in the 4th or 5th. and as many WR's there are in this draft, i dont want to wait til the 6th round to take one. we should get some decent production from Green and Taylor this year, and i think picking a RB early would be a luxury.

overall, i think our draft philosophies differ greatly. i see that you pick to help us in the future, hence the brown and walker picks, who may end up being great players, but neither will equate into wins next season. i'd like us to win now, and i think my picks would equate into more wins next season. good thinking on the landry and abiamiri picks tho:)
