Reggie: You're killing USC!

In all fairness to Bush, Carrol set up that phone call 3-way, and as such, he should be to blame. I guarantee you Bush didn't initiate that stuff

I agree.

My only point was that Bush has been nothing but trouble for USC since he left. This one is not necesarilly his fault, but the other problem is.

If this story is true, then I see no way that USC gets out of this without at least probabtion.

The NCAA would hate to stick it to their golden football program, but the rules are the rules, and it looks like USC has broken them.

Yea that whole story is shady. it sounds like they got to mcknight and were like dude...just deny it and say you were confused.

carroll needs to get his $@%& together. sounds like he's letting a lot of stuff slide.

maybe they'll tell mcknight he has to play at ole miss and can't at usc...that'd be great.

I dunno, but I sure hope ESPN adapts a new mascot next year. Bush has outworn his
welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Stupid rule that former players can't talk to recruits anyway. Who better to get an inside scoop on what the program is like?

Not really. One is often a Pro, while one is always an Amateur. Atleast in theory.
See, that's one situation where segregation is thought to be a good thing.

What does that have to do with anything? It was a telephone call--it isn't like Bush paid him to go to USC. Bet the Olympics don't give a crud if you talk to people who have gone pro or just about any other sport either. Its stupid for rules like this to exist for football and yet college tennis players can have an active career as tennis pros/tutors.

I hate Hollywood. I mean USC. How can other schools compete with "play here, and go hang out with movie stars in the clubs during the weekend."

I don't understand all the Reggie and USC hate. Do you think all schools are angels in their recruiting practices? USC just got caught. And the Texans didn't draft Reggie, not the other way around. Please...get off it.

Dude, its news, if this was another big school and another player thats praised as the best player at his position to come out in a decade wrapped up in some fishy business, there would be a thread here discussing it.

This is a message board you know, its news, people are going to debate it.

Are you still wearing your #5 Bush jersey?

Geez.

If this had happened anywhere else I still would have started a thread about it. The reason for the thread is that the violation involves the #1 RB in the nation, not because it gives me a reason to hate on Reggie.

I'm not trying to run a train on Bush's character, I'm just noting the fact that the guy cant do anyting right for his alma mater lately.

My post has nothing to do with the story. It has everything to do with the tone. Most Texans fans(myself included) are tired of taking crap for drafting Reggie. That's no reason to hate Reggie Bush though. You wanna tell me there's not a negative tone to this thread? Yes, it would have been posted regardless of what school/player, but I just want Texans fans to be more mature than that. We aren't Eagles fans. And by the way, I only own 1 NFL jersey. It's Deep Steel Blue, and sports a number 90.

Texas hating USC or Cali, for that matter isn't new. This was way before Bush and quite frankly, if you want to be honest...BUSH IS KILLING USC, if the NCAA comes down on USC it will kill their football program for quite some time, look at Alabama. They are just now starting to crawl out. Stop being so thin skinned.

Its not like people here painted Bush into the corner he's in. Bush is the one holding the paint brush. Just because he's a great player doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye. By the time the truth comes out this can get ugly. Thank god for Yahoo, though because it looks like ESPN wants no part in this and that is the sole reason I hate ESPN. They are full of it, they make no mention about the Bush scandel and sweep Irvin's crack pipe under the rug, but they will overblow every other story and shove TO down our throats. (who despite being a supreme A Hole A) never was involed in a scandel and B) never was linked to drugs or arrest.) ESPN is the biggest hypocrite of them all.

I will first say this, my knowledge on the rules is slim.

That said, I assume if Reggie contacted anyone on his own, USC shouldn't be in any trouble. However, if USC asked Reggie to talk to someone, that's their own, stupid fault, and they deserve whatever they get. Just b/c USC ask Reggie to talk to someone, should he know better? Definitely. But in the end, the blame falls to USC. Ole_Miss_Texan said it pretty well. I guess my frustration in my post comes from the fact that the only thing more annoying that when ESPN bashes us for no good reason, we seem to lash out at a player who is not responsible for the heat we're taking as a team. I wish we as a fan base wouldn't be so think skinned. It's late, goodnight.

The rumor is that Pete Carrol (sp?) arranged the call. He probably did. All the big schools cheat, let's face it. My Buckeyes have been nailed several times in the last year.

I knew a lot of players who are now in the NFL. Schools have ways to duck the rules (unless they get caught).

Why all the hate? I have hated USC since before the Texans existed. I happen to like Bush and what he has done in NO. I don't care that the Texans passed on him.

As far as these other guys, what red blooded Texan doesn't hate the west coast :)

there are plenty of reasons to "hate" on reggie bush- he's broken the rules every step of the way. he's bad news and i'm glad the texans passed on him.

what carroll did here was actually upstanding, though, whatever the NCAA says. he wanted mcknight to understand the status of the investigations. mcknight is unambiguously entitled to this knowledge- mcknight is making a career decision here.

pete carroll runs a clean and upstanding program. there are no suggestions whatsoever that carroll or any bona fide "boosters" of the program are paying players or acting out of hand in any way. the accusations against bush involve outside folks- agents- and him taking money from them. in fact, if you read thru it all, bush's filthy relationship with those agents was clearly designed to fool USC- the benefits flowed to bush's parents, and in san diego, not los angeles.

best as i can tell, no USC players are being arrested with loaded handguns in their cars, as with UT, or working phony jobs for prominent boosters like OU's are. and Ohio State, that would take an essay for that 100% crooked football factory.
