Watching the Pats and the Chargers playoff game with Marlon McCree and Jabar Gaffney, got me thinking. Which ExTexan do you think has been the most successful since leaving our team?

McCree has been making plays on two consecutive playoff teams. He is smart and considering what our secondary looks like, is a needed man.

10 receptions today... 103 yards.. 1 TD.

Last week, 8 receptions, 104 yards...

Man, if he'd have only put up those kind of stats weekly here.. :marionaner:

Now before we get on the Gaffney ban wagon let me remind you he plays for Obi Won who can turn a 6th round QB into a 3 time superbowl/MVP champion.

Jason Bell
Marlon McCree
Billy Miller
Jabar Gaffney

All of those guys have made contributions to playoff teams. We could really use McCree and Bell these days.

I used to defend Gaff, but I don't think I stuck with it last year. I gave up on a lot of people last year.

I used to assert here that Gaffney was a pretty decent player, when given a chance. I even went so far as to point out some fairly unknown (or at least unrecognized) metrics that supported that claim. Off the top of my head, in 2004, when I posted it, Gaffney led the team in yards per catch, even though AJ and Bradford were the deep threats; he led the team in first down per catch %; he led the team in fewest drops. He had a higher catch-to-target ratio; and he had like 40-some odd receptions that year. I still don't think he'll ever be a real #1 receiver, but he can be a solid player in this league and was very underutilized on this team (as have been more than a few players now).

I am happy for Gaffney.

I liked Jabar and thought he would have been a great value to re-sign. I even think I said he would be the biggest surprise FA signing this year. Where do I collect my prize?

Steve Foley has actually had the best post Texans year of all our glorious cuts.....he went to the Pro bowl before he got shot and stuff.
i would have to agree with you sir. i honestly didnt know billy miller was playing for the saints, much less an NFL franchise, until just yesterday when i heard he caught a ball...i was like "BILLY!"
