Draft Kevin Kolb...

Doody

Practice Squad
and bring in Plummer on a 2 yr contract loaded with incentives... I dont see Plummer finding that many suitors and we have Kubiak to entice him over cheap. We can build our oline and groom Kolb for a year or so. This is actually assuming Kolb falls to the 2nd round, id even be willing to trade up in the 2nd round to grab him, maybe even back into the lower 1st. I know he could drop furthur, but who knows, the combine can do all sorts of thing for draft possitions. First round pick I'd still like to get Landry or the best cover corner available...I'm not opposed to trying Dunta at FS...and please throw as much money at samuels, clements, briggs, or thomas...i just want one of them please.

Yes! I'd take anything but Carr. Carr is still the same guy that sucked all season. Don't let one game fool you.

I agree with drafting kevin kolb, and also maybe even bringing in plummer, but keeping carr here to compete for the job. Competition brings out the best in any quarterback. This could work out in many ways:

A- David Carr responds to the texans bringing in kolb and plummer, and he has a pro bowl season next season and plays with a sense of urgency because he isn't so comfortable knowing plummer and kolb are on his tail.

B- David Carr loses the job to Plummer and Kolb gets developed to be our quarterback of the future, while we see what Plummer can do in the short term seeing if he can make a playoff run.

My point is more competition never hurts. Now I am heavily against getting rid of Carr, because we have yet to give him a chance behind a legit pass blocking offensive line. We did for a few games this season, and he did very well (Eagles, even though we lost, he threw for 3+ touchdowns and no interceptions... and for first few weeks of this season he led the nfl in passing).

yup get plummer because he is better then carr in kubiaks system, draft kolb in the 2nd, i thinkhe will fall to us unless oakland takes him, but al davis is stupid so doubtful, and do the same thing the chargers did with philip rivers just sit him for 2 seasons, and he will be good

I want nothing to do with Plummer. He was a bad QB on the Cardinals and had really only one good year with the Broncos. If you want to see football with lots of mistakes, then Plummer is your guy. Carr makes a few mistakes, but nothing like what Plummer has done over his career.

I definitely like what I've seen from Kolb so far. I'm curious to see what the combine does for Kolb's draft position, but if there's any reasonable way to get Kolb, I'd sure like to see him in a Texans uniform. QBs that come later in the draft always seem to want it more, rather than those who get drafted at the top and seem to have things handed to them.

Even though I disagree, i think Carr is gonna end up staying here. He probably won't start but he'll still be here.

What?!?! If you want to see football with alot of mistakes, CARR IS YOUR GUY! You have got to be related to Carr or something, geeez! Plummer would instantly upgrade this offense and put at least someone who the defense feels is A THREAT. At least Plummer has done SOMETHING in this league. Last year he played in the freakin AFC Championship GAME!! Jake has done well in Denver, the only reason he was benched is because Shanny is feeling the heat. He had to make the change since it would give him plenty of political cover if Cutler bombed and they missed the playoffs OR they made the playoffs but don't have any pressure on them since they are starting a Rookie QB. He was 7-4 when he got benched! Not 4-7!!

Jake Plummer is the perfect example of a guy succeeding because of the situation he's put in. I will put money down on people calling for his head within 5 games. He'll throw a left handed pass. LOL

How bad of a situation can you get in than being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, yet he took that team to the playoffs and actually won a game.

Lets not draft Kolb because he is UH, I grow tired of the "college" ties (hear that UT people).

BUT, if Kolb is legit yeah, spend a later pick on him, cant hurt!

Why is everyone peeing themselves over Kolb. He reminds me of Carr in college plus, he isnt even playing in a NFL style offense. Hes been playing in that offense since high school of course hes going to look good.

If Kolb went to somewhere like Memphis would anyone care about him? Surely there are better QB's available in this draft that we can get in the second round.

That play by Kolb where he kicked the ball out of bounds was a real heads up play. This is the first game I've ever seen him play in and he looks pretty good to me. Great arm strength, good leadership and game control, and he has mobility to get out of the pocket and throw on the run ACURATELY.

What round is he projected to go in?

His draft position won't be nailed down until after the Senior Bowl and combine. Day 1 for sure. All the rest is highly speculative.

I think Kolb would make a good QB project. Have him sit back and learn from Kubiack and Sage or Plummer for a couple of years and I think he will be a succesful QB. He is quick, has leadership skills and can throw the ball. He has the natural raw talent to be a good NFL QB. Carr has no leadership, he is content with losing, only throws the ball 5 yards and turns the ball over too much. McNair made a costly error by signing him to an extension, eating the money is the price he will have to pay if he wants to win.

I knew this was coming tonight & I've got nothing against Kolb, i am a cougar, but i'd only be comfortable taking him in the 3rd & no higher. With the way he's playing tonight he likely won't be there though. We just need too many other pieces to be thinking about a Qb a year after the deepest draft in terms of QB's & talent in a long time.

Just remember that Carr was quite impressive during his college days too. Don't get your hopes up TOO high or else you might be disappointed.

ok, as a life long Denver Broncos fan and a die hard Texans fan (dont ask me what i do when they play each other) I feel obligated to throw my two cents into the ring. Plummer is not our guy. He showed improvement in Denver when the pressure was taken off of him and he had to just "not lose a game" rather than win one. In houston he will be thrown right back into the pressure and you will see the return of jake from his Cardinal days.

And i know a lot of you are sick of Carr, but you will be no happier with Plummer. Also, it was mentioned to bring in Plummer and then draft Kolb for competition. While this sounds nice, i know that in Denver they never carried three QBs and im not sure how willing Kubes is to carrying 3 of em.

So i say draft Kolb in the second round (given that he checks out after the combine and everything) and start the season with Carr as the starter. We will have Kolb on the bench learning from Kubiak and Carr (maybe what not to do) and it will still provide the competiton you desire. Just stay away from Jake the Snake.

Yeah, and QBs with talent tend to go earlier than they are graded out.

Unless Kubiak wants a QB with his third pick he will not be picking one up. He passed ( no pun intended ) on VY & Matt, & Cutler, he will not waste a pick on Kold. The first two picks, just like last year, will be on the defensive side of the ball. Last year, if you paid attention, you knew Mario was going first, He was the only player other than VY & RB brought down for a 1 on 1.and with the Carr extension, and the Denver " I can make any RB great" system of Kubiak's, Mario was the only other player. So no more talk about guys you KNOW are not going to be drafted. Personally I wanted D'Brickashaw last year but I knew we weren't going to help Carr that much. Start looking for that OLB out of the SEC to work with Ryans, and either a Cover Corner
( good at man to man ) or a Saftey - best available, or DT since the IR list is long with lijnemen, there you will find what Kubiak will be looking at.

kolb's biggest obstacle is the senior bowl. he's played in the same offense since high school, so he'll have to show that he can pick up a new, albeit somewhat vanilla offense in a short period of time. he's the kinda guy whose fate will be determined by the practices more than the game.

Agreed. Anyone know what sort of student he is and type of courses he takes? Leads to how smart etc.

I understand all the hype surrounding kolb because he is from Houston, but would you honestly draft him with our first pick in the second round? I mean i know he's from Houston and all, but would you honestly draft him that high, over the likes of guys like Drew Stanton, John Beck, Trent Edwards, or even Troy Smith if he is there. To me, the only Quarterback of this bunch worth taking in the second would be Troy Smith if he falls. Don't get me wrong, I like Kolb and all, just think that he is getting overhyped WAYY to early.. At least wait to the combine people, or at least when everyone has declared.

Agreed: You've got a very good think on his feet, nice deep ball, nice strong armed QB....if he's standing tall in the pocket with a good pocket. What this poney doesnot do, is throw very well on the run. And since...we run the waggle an awefull lot in this offense, unless Kubes drops down stone cold dead, and we get a new HC, we ain't drafting Kolb. ...Not even for a prospect. JMHO. His foot work and shoulders are a train wreck on the run. I don't believe he can be saved by anyone. He's a pure pocket passer. Period.

I think Kolb showed me everything Carr showed me in his Senior year. In the end this guy failed tomake the plays.

yeah and of course it didnt help playing at fresno state where defenses in the PAC 10 stunk and he played in that QB friendly west coast offense.

yeah so was peyton manning. or...just about any top QB in the NFL.

Trading up is only for teams that are missing a few pieces ala the patriots, bears, you know teams that are good. We cannot afford to give away draft picks, in fact I think it is more likely that we trade down to accumulate more to fill more holes.

Besides, you don't just take a quarterback for the sake of taking a quartback. If a better player is available at another position, you take him
