Our BEST and WORST draft year

Sco-tai

Waterboy
In your opinion, which DRAFT in our history was the BEST and which was THE WORST. I'd rather not hear "2002...because we drafted Carr"...but then again, I am asking OPINIONS, and I can't argue that. Personally, my favorite draft is 2006. Hands down. The WORST was 2004. Other than D-Rob and Glen Earl it was horrible. And BABIN isn't BAD, but a horrible value in the 1st round...especially what we gave up to get back into the 1st round. The TITANS LOVED Casserly and were sad to see him go, I'm sure.

I'm sure you all remember who we got just 8 months ago :yahoo:

Look at it this way and the whole CC/Capers era looks pathetic. Guys likely to be starters next year:

Sure some others will probably be on the team--Weary, Earl, etc. and some may still hold onto starting jobs but any of them could be upgraded thru FA or draft other than the highlighted guys.

that '05 draft isn't looking too good, but you did trade those two picks for buchannon so it's tough to judge completely.

Best is clearly 2006. I don't see how anyone could even attempt to argue anything else.

The worst right now is 2004. Though if Davis doesn't come back, the worst will be 2003. Peek is likely to be gone as a FA this year, which will leave AJ as the only member of that draft still on the team ... just 4 years later! Yes, I know we turned Ragone into a 3rd ... but we turned that 3rd into half of Phillip Buchanan.

Even if Babin was poor value, at least he's still a capable backup. As of now, Glenn Earl is STILL our best safety - terrifying thought, that.

2002 wasn't a good draft class at all...so outside of a couple of teams almost every fan base is unhappy with their draft class from that season. That doesn't explain our ongoing failed drafts...but it was a brutal year to have extra picks starting a franchise. Dumb luck on that one.

I don't think the 2004 class was all that bad as each year unfolds...On the Titan trade, Starks has been a disappointment as well as Troupe, and LaBoy is nothing special so Babin doesn't look so bad now. Heck, say what you want but he is our best pass rusher.

Man, looking @ the draft picks from 2002-2005, looks very depressing! Casserly with his goof ball picks, or getting cute, & with very few HITS! I would like to do a Draft-do-over again!:shades:

I agree Vinny. If and nuts and all of that I give a little grace on Jopru. He was a very highly rated TE coming out. I wasn't the only one excited to get him. The'05 class is circuling the tolliet bowl slowly but surely. Last years class was a clear and distinct delineation from all the rest. I wasn't there and I don't know....I'm hard pressed to believe CC's finger prints are on that draft. They can say what they want. But I'll believe what I believe.

I think the 2002 draft is the worst. It was bad top to bottom. We gave up on players like:

J. Peppers
R. Williams
T. Polumalu (SP)
E. Reed
J. Shockey
C. Portis
D Freeney

We should have traded back that year or just took peppers. I know it is in the past. Oh well.

We should have traded back every year. We needed a ton of talent, and we have very little to show from the Casserly drafts.

Best is hands down last year. Worse has to be 2002. After this year we may only have 1 player left from that draft playing. What a bad job of developing the player. The organization failed on all levels.

Bright side, last years draft appears very solid. And Smith has done a very good job of keeping this team loaded with the injuries.

I think Kubiak and Smith complete the dismantle and rebuilding starts in earnest this off season.

Or '05, tough call IMO.

'06 was clearly the best. Draft more Buckeyes :)
