Great Draft Idea!!

More than likely the texans will finish with a top 5 pick.
1st round- Texans trade down latter in the the top ten and pick up marshawn lynch and a second rounder.
2nd round- Texans trade their second and third round pick to move up into the first round grabbing reggie nelson(the safety at florida)
2nd round- With the other second round pick(from trade down) the texans trade that for matt schaub.
This gives the texans 3 playmakers with their first three picks. No way going into the draft and picking best available give you these types of players.
This fills the running back hole, the huge hole at safety and our furture quarterback!
And best of all this is a legitimate scenario.

It will take more than a second rounder to get Schaub.

In this trade down scenario it would take both the 2nds to move back up into that 1st round position in order to have a legitimate shot at getting a qb. plus the coaches would be targeting a certain qb don't know who they would want, but the would want their guy which is much harder to 'know' where he would fall.

I support a trade down for us for sure, but trading back up may be different for me. we need all the players we can get. shoot daniels/lundy have been starting for us thats our 4th and 6th round picks. however. If troy smith is their at the 32nd spot...in 1st round (and if kubes likes him for the team) I might be inclined to trade our 2nd and either a 5th or 6th to move up to Detroits 33rd pick...to grab him before cleveland might in the 2nd or another team in front of us.

Below is a link to a draft value chart that is fun to look at and get an idea of what each pick is worth...again though it may be 'worth' a different amount to a different team, this is just the 'guidelines'.

I like it. Trade back. Get Lynch.

I don't :shades: that is if your target is RB & you pass on Adrian Peterson. not to mention if the Texans do trade down I would rather go with LaRon Landry or Leon Hall.

otherwise please enlighten me why Marshawn Lynch is so special :ok:

That Makes two of us. Watched Brown last night from BYU...that guy is locked and loaded and ready to go. He runs, an aggresive Blocker, and he has hands of gold. Now that guy won't cost us a day one pick. And I know for a fact he already does two of three things better than Lynch.

Lynch is pretty darn good. Peterson is not the only RB worthy of a Top 15 pick. Just the only one worthy and playing in the Big 12.

Some folks are scared off by Peterson's injury, too.

It's not just the Collar bone fracture...it's the aggregate, the number of them & the reoccouring theme that has me concerned. It's not nothing.

Pete makes a great arguement against a 1st round back. I would like to see Browns 40 time, but he looked solid, and he is not on the draft radars as of yet. Give me the defensive guys that will build this team and a 2nd day back like Brown and I could hang.

I am in favor of a trade down, not the trade back up.

Let me get this straight your not in favor of picking up a?
1. elite running back(marshawn lynch)
2. a study free saftey with reggie nelson
3. A future signal caller in matt schaub
This would be the best that the texans could possibly hope for.

No. I would not draft a runningback we have other needs. Ron Dayne and Wali Lundy are both RBs with talents. They will perform well with a decent line. And I don't think any team(in the top 10) will accept the trade. So specifically who will you trade the pick to? Reggie Nelson is a good pick but abandon your hope that our FO will draft QB. they love DC

I don't see a need for Schaub - not to mention that we won't get him for a 2nd. I have no problem with Lynch and Nelson. To get both would be a fairly nice deal. Instead of Schaub, I'd look at grabbing either 1) OT Joe Staley, 2)the best available OLB or 3) the best available CB. In roughly that order, assuming we don't fix OLB or CB through Free Agency.

However, I think your original assumption is wrong. I do not believe we will have a Top 5 pick. I expect 6-9. We're going to beat Cleveland and I refuse to rule out beating the Colts just because everyone else has :)

You pick up Schuab...you're not going to have the ammo to get #1, & #2. You start the '06 draft in the second round, with the thrity sixeth pick. ....GL. One thing about it though , you got us in the running for Ray Rice and Darrin McFaddin derby in '08.

Schaub is a RFA and will get the highest tender from Atlanta. With that done it will cost a 1st and 3rd to sign him. Atlanta will not back off of that. They would just as soon keep him as there backup or possible starter if Vick goes down. Why would ATL accept anything less??? They won't!:twocents:
