My Houston Texan Thoughts:

Blake

MMQB
Let me start off by saying that this is one hell of a disappointing season. Besides, Mario, Demeco, Dunta and Andre Johnson, I am having a hard time feeling good about our team. We need help in a ton of places, and have alot of work ahead of us.

Now let me switch gears and talk about how pleased I am with our 06 draft class. Mario and Demeco are going to be the leaders of a damn good defense in the years to come. I know people are disappointed in Mario, and his production, but rest easy, that Mario is going to become the best defensive end in the NFL soon, and he will be on your Houston Texans. I know alot of you wanted Reggie, and I know alot of you wanted Vince, but the fact is we got Mario, and he is a Texan. He is our guy, and he is going to get better every day. You hear the way he talks, and the way he carries himself, and cant help but agree that he will not stop until he is what he was born to be. Once we get those final pieces on defense, the hammer at safety, and an OLB to slash the offense, we will have the NFL championship caliber defense that it takes to win a super bowl. I don’t know about you, but after 4 years of pitiful drafts, Kubiak has come through like a force unseen to save this team on draft day. He doesn’t trade away picks like candy, he keeps them, and uses them on gold.

Now on to offense. I hate to bring this post down to the ground, but we have a major problem on offense. We have backup running backs - starting, we have a QB who refuses to throw downfield to win games, and an offensive line that is decimated with injury. To be honest, I am actually happy with our line, and think it is one road grader guard away from being really good. I think we will get one via FA, or the 07 draft, and be back in business. As for the Running backs, we do not have a premier runner, who can take it to the house on any given play. We need an outside/inside/pass catching/pass blocking stud workhorse who can solidify our rushing attack, and this will come via 07 draft.

And here we are. At the QB position. With David Carr our franchise QB. Our golden boy that has been here for 5 years. I cannot stand David anymore. I am finished with this clown, and can only pray that he is traded for draft picks, or a veteran QB who can take a defense like we have to the playoffs and win. I cannot sit back and watch David refuse to pass downfield and continue to dump the ball off to the flats, or to a RB 3 yards up field. 1 of 2 things can happen here. David can take his shots downfield, and give this team a fighting chance to win, or he can continue in his ways, and dink and dunk to 17 points a game.

As for the 07 draft, I am looking for a premier running back, a road grader guard, a hammer safety, and an big time SEC OLB.

Keep the faith in Mario. He is a stud, and will be big for us every year.

I don't think Carr is a clown. He's been a class act in terms of how he's handled the criticism of his play. It's not like he's flipping the bird to the stands or anything.

That said, I do not like his play. I just don't agree with calling him a clown.

Good level headed-assesment. That is hard to come by around here where everyone only wants to rag on the fact that Jesus Young is not on our team.

I agree that Kubiak has done a good job. Our drafts this year all appear to be future talents. I think we will have an even better one this season. There are a few diamonds among this years draft class. Mario, DeMeco, and Robinson will one day head a Super Bowl caliber defense. The irony of this will not be lost on those who watch the NFL.

Kubiak will one day take us to the big show. I will keep the faith and root even harder for my Texans. It will be all the sweeter when we finally march into a Super Bowl in five or six years.

We will be better next year when we have a new QB. Taking a young QB does not neccessarily set back your team. Look at Brady. Carr is on his last legs. In hindsight we should have taken a veteran and let him sit for a year or two, but that is water under the bridge now.

Keep the faith and beat the Pats.

The 06 draft was deeper and has more talent IMO.
Carr will be the starter next year and beyond!
Beat The Pats!

Ive been dissapointed in all of those who you like lol (except for Demeco)

Dunta seems to have good then bad games, so 8 good and 8 bad lol
Mario has not impressed me enough to warrant a 1st round pick (though he has the rest of the year and next season)
Andre seems to drop passes and like the critisicm of Carr he has trash time stats
The run game is pathetic and you can only hope a true RB will step up because I am not sure DD will be back

Demeco is the man!!!!

i agree with your disagreement. I will refuse to flame david carr as he is a texan, and has been a huge class act..he is not the qb we need, well so be it. But Karma can bite you in the a.s.s.

First, Love your avatar....

Next.... pretty good assessment. OL...... I know it sounds funny, but the Lineup we have now, is the best (I think) we've had all season. True, it would be nice to have Spencer...... but I think Salaam, Pitts, HogDon, Weary, Winston is a better lineup than Spencer, Pitts, Flanagan, McKinney, Wiegart.

I doubt OL is going to be addressed early... true, they don't look great, but they've only been playing together for three weeks(or four??). Weary needs help in his pass protection.... Winston has shown great promise, and Hogdon is flat out an upgrade over Flanagan.

I think Ron Dayne is going to have a great game against New England, and Indy...... and Cleveland..... and our offense will finally open up.

I am not sure about Winston, the last couple of games he has stunk up the field. But its a learning curve for him and he is coming back from an Injury.

Flanagan was a joke to get, he has not been healthy the last 3 seasons. I dont think he played much at all last season.

i think carr is a clown too, and here is why:

1. he talks too much trash about the jags. so u can beat them on a regular basis... so what? their overall record still owns our overall record.
2. carr's problems > jags problems when facing the texans
3. carr has no business doing the little "ballin" jumpshot to the new york crowd, seeing as how:
a. we lost the game vs the giants
b. carr was benched the week before bc of his poor play

Super Mario,

We can expect Mario to be 'big for use every year', as you state above? I assume that includes NEXT year. Fine, so if he isn't 'big for us' next year, you have some explaining to do.

You got it. I am as behind Mario, as the Texans Org.

p.s. Thanks David Carr for proving my point against NE. 4 picks eh? Well, at least we didnt lose 40-7......oh wait...

Ok ok ok, Carr is not a clown, but he is not a NFL QB. His 100 yards, and 0-4 TD to INT ratio today shows that. We cannot win with a QB who turns the ball over like Culpepper 2.0
