This guy is usually a Saint hater from the old school. He gives Reggie his props though.....

King for a Day
New Orleans' running back Reggie Bush should've been the first pick of the draft. But he wasn't, and he wasn't because Houston got cold feet -- believing it might have trouble signing the guy. So the Texans pass, and New Orleans is only too glad to draft the best player on the board. Critics complained that he wasn't the Gale Sayers throwback that people said he'd be, but I'd like them to run the videotape to Sunday's defeat of San Francisco -- and tell me what he's missing. Bush wasn't good; he was great, producing 168 yards in offense, scoring four times and producing a handful of the best video highlights of the year. Bush is the perfect complement to McAllister and an absolute monster in the open field. Houston should regret its decision.

ummm......helped his team to a division leading record.
Gotten critical first downs for his team all season.
Been a model citizen and has never bought into the hype machine that surrounds him. This guy is one of the most humble, likable guys on the planet.

The lack of responses to this thread despite 68 views speaks volumes. Thanks.

I think the lack of responses is due more to the fact that the whole R. Bush thing is about played out over here.

Much like all the VY posts will hopefuly be soon, I cryed in my beer when we did not take Vince. However, life goes on.

He still only had 37 yards rushing I believe on ten carries, coming out to 3.7 average...far from amazing. His recieving yards were impressive though, 131 on nine catches, which ironically, could have been better had he not dropped the ball out of bounds, without anyone coming even close to him. He had a great game, no one is taking that away from him.

But his season has been mediocre. He is still not in the top 30 for rushing yards, (even after his monster TD day) not in the top 30 for touchdown scoring, not in the top 30 fro recieving yards, not in the top 30 for recieving touchdowns, and not in the top 30 for rushing touchdowns. I do not care what anyone says about him being a rookie or sharing carries. Laurence Maroney (rookie/sharing with Corey Dillon) is on both rushing lists, and Marques Colston (rookie/sharing with Joe Horn) is on both recieving lists.

Given the lifespan of a running back, I still take a defensive end with the 1st pick of the draft. Reggie had a great day, and showed flashes of promise, but this one day did not sway me to his side. If he shows up for one game a year then New Orleans will not get their return on investment.

ok then the Texans should have drafted VY cause he even has more rushing yards than Bush :)

ROSE-COLORED GLASSES - "Some unfortunate people never take their rose-colored glasses off, but everyone wears these spectacles occasionally. This attitude of cheerful optimism, of seeing everything in an attractive, pleasant light, has always been with us, while the expression itself goes back to at least 1861, when it is first recorded in 'Tom Brown at Oxford': 'Oxford was a sort of Utopia to the Captain. He continued to behold towers, and quadrangles, and chapels, through rose-colored glasses." From the "Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins" by Robert Hendrickson (Facts on File, New York, 1997)

Quit telling me I should have regrets when I don't. I wish some of these morons would evaluate Williams for what he's actually done, and not compared him against rushing yards and touchdowns. I quit watching sportscenter because of these joke sportswriters.

Reggie is sooo old on this board now. It's moved on the newer and better things...such as thousands of VY posts.

I don't know why most Texan fans discount the possibility that we will regret our decision.....

Considering the talent of VY and Bush I think it's highly possible....

I totally understand the Texans decision, and I think Mario's going to be great....But I wouldn't discount anything at this point....

I think all the hype about how we SHOULD regret our decision has more people rebelling against it than any actual logic.

I like Mario and have no problem with picking a DE 1st overall. But the biggest motivation to support him and to see him succeed, other than the team doing well, is to see him prove SI and all his other critics wrong. I want them to eat a giant flock of crow so maybe they'll learn a lesson about trashing draft picks just because they went against their "infallible" predictions. It's down right insulting and sad to see them hate Mario for where he was drafted and basically treat him as a "second-class draft pick" compared to Bush and Young.

Personaly, I dont care how Reggie or VY do, Mario plays for the Texans, he is the one I will follow and root for. Apparently, I am one of the few, because Richard Justice went on Cold Pizza this morning to proclaim to the world how much of a mistake drafting Mario was, despite not mentioning anything about him or our defense, and saying that the Texans now wish they had drafted VY...move on people, move on

Bush sounds like a standup guy, but he is a NO Saint. I am focused on the activity of the Texan players. Based on the articles and opinions of the "experts" Mario Williams is a ghost. It must have taken the pressure off him having Carr and a terrible OL opposite of him. I wish him the best. I am sure he will have to earn all his press; whereas, Reggie is given it freely every day.

only 73 receptions for 570 some odd yds................or close to 400 yds rushing and a game winner on a punt return...........with 6 TD's that is all........and when he comes on the field you can just ignore him like the Texans FO did after all Mario is better?....everyone has a rookie like him no? Wake up the guy can play, stop dogging him to justify Mario...............it is foolish...................post Mario highlights..................you cant there are none.....................

i have only seen one game he has shown up to.. and most of those stats you state are from that game. Mario has shown more then Bush has to this point. If you cant see it.. you are fooling yourself.
