Waterboy
Friends, Texans, Bull Pen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Carr, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with David Carr. The noble "Carr Bomb"
Hath told you Carr was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath David answer'd it.
Here, under leave of the "mexican texan" and the rest--
For "Carr Bomb" is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak during the Texans poor season and Carr's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
He was drafted #1 in 2002 before great men.
Joey Harrington had oft been thought of as great;
As had Tom Ramsey. Surely both of these were amazing talents.
But "tsip" says he was ambitious;
And "tsip" is an honourable man.
He hath brought many touchdowns to Fresno State in college,
Throwing for over 4,000 yards his senior year and over 40 TDs.
To whose fans did he offer the greatest hope:
Did this in Carr seem to "suck"?
When that the Texan fans have cried, Carr hath wept:
A self-centered, non-leader should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet "Battle Red Bull" says Carr would be a third string QB elsewhere;
And "Battle Red Bull" is an honourable man.
You all did see that in 2002 Carr threw for the second-most yards for
A rookie QB with an expansion team and threw the franchise's first TD.
I have thrice seen him stand upright to complete a pass,
Which he did thrice have to throw to Jamel Cook who fumbled:
Was this Carr sucking?
Yet "Wharton" says he is a "head case like Jeff George and as
Shellshocked as Tim Couch";
And, sure, "Wharton" is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what these and other Bull Pen bloggers blogged,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once in 2002, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to root for him now to succeed?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts, :brickwall
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with David Carr,
And I must pause till it come back to me.
Adieu...
