Any chance Gado starts after the bye?

That would have given him a month to learn the offense.

Ron Dayne is S-L-O-W, and I really don't like the way he runs. He is also a bad receiver out of the backfield.

22 carries for 58 yards (2.6 avg) is not going to get it done.

Is anyone hearing anything?

Not to mention that Dayne is not conditioned for a full game. Anyone notice in the 4th quarter, he'd get the ball and pratically fall over?

Give Lundy another chance-there are rookie running backs tearing up the league.

In his first game with the Texans, after being with the team for a total of 9 days, he ran for 3.4 yards/carry. The first half of the game, he has 7 carries for 28 yards.... 4 ypc. in the second half, only 4 carries for 9 yards......2.25 ypc. to me, it looks like a mixture of our offense moving away from the run game, and Indy finding the right key.

In Washington, he ran the ball 14 times, for 58 yards. 4.1 ypc. if someone is getting you 4.1 ypc after being with the team for only 15 days, why wouldn't you give him the ball more??

In Miami, he had a bad game..... but no reason to put him on the bench. If Gado looks like he's catching on in practice, I can see him getting more carries. but until he shows that he can produce with this team on gameday, we should keep the big guy in there.

I think Dayne should start, and the plan should be to give him the bulk of the carries. But Gado in there from time to time, If he is getting us big gains, we should get him the ball more.

With both these guys trying to prove something, and Lundy wanting to be on the field, I think we are going to enjoy this little RB battle.

Did anyone watch last weeks Packers game? Morency started for Green, see how they did?
:yikes:

Glad to have ya on board, Samkon. He will earn his keep.

Haven't heard or seen Lundy, is he now a definate #3? Is he still here?

I love Ron Dayne, but our O-line needs to click on all cylinders and we also can't get behind. Hard to have a running game playing catch up, but maybe a running game doesn't work with this team until we set things up with the pass. It seems to me that we set our rhythm off the pass. (I know some will quip what rhythm...we have moments!)

I know this team is evolving and I am praying to God somehow, somewhere this O-line steps up and we can see some smash mouth football, but again playing devil's advocate that may not be the type of football team the 06-07 Texans are.

Just my thoughts though. I wish this week wasn't a bye week, would be interesting to see how they would respond the week after a win.

Just a note to all that havent noticed....Ron Dayne SUCKS. Looks out of shape, is way too slow, and has absolutely NO vision for our cut back system required for the ZBS that we now employ.

Gado had a GIANT gut coming out of his pads when I saw him. We need a young guy who has that burst of speed, who can hit the hole and possibly not fall over with exhaustion after 5 yards.

HEY LETS START MORENCY!!!

What?

for the texans running game..they need to use 4 yard out passes to owen daniels to represent the running game until we can get a truly talented veteran running back in the offseason!

Funny you say that cause he's still the best at cutting back and seeing the hole compared to our other backs. Pretty sad how bad our RB situation is...

& after getting RonDayne, SamkonGado, & WaliLundy, we still don't need a running back.

SamkonGado was very impressive last season starting for the GB Packers. If AhmanGreen were hurt(which he is) the cheeseheads would be thrilled to have Samkon starting for them.

RonDayne would be starting in Denver right now, had Shanahan not got a wild hair up his butt..... he avg'd 3.4 yards against Indy, after being with our team 9 days. & 4.1 yards against Washington a week later. Both, behind a terrible offensive line, that have allowed 5 sacks in three games. An offensive line, that have not started the same 5 people for two weeks back to back.

& WaliLundy.... had a great Preseason, and avg'd over 5 ypc in the second half of the Phillygame, & 4.2 ypc against Indy.

We're looking pretty good at runningback.

Name two teams who would trade their running back corps for ours?

Ummm... The Gridiron Gang and the Girl Scouts of America! (Not sure about the Gridiron Gang though.)

Seriously though... Seems to me like the RB's are very good at hitting the pile instead of the hole (when there is one). I still can't decide if it's lack of vision by the RB or the O-Line not opening the hole where it's supposed to be, although probably a little of both. Hopefully that's something they have addressed in the Bye Week, and someone will step up against Dallas next week.

That is statement just moronic. The ZBS is exactly what he ran in college, and his vision has always been outstanding.

There are a couple things to remember here... he's only been with the team for a month, and most of the time, the Texans have been playing from so far behind that the running game didn't really matter.

A lot of these things go hand in hand.

He had a nice, 17 yard run called back early in the Miami game, and he did well in the 2nd half. The Texans moved the ball, and chewed up clock, and oh yeah, they won the friggin' game. Trust me -- Dayne gets stronger as the game goes on.

And on a side note... for those who didn't like the Morency trade: he has 3 fumbles and a tipped pass that resulted in an interception in about 40 touches with the Packers. Mistakes lose games a lot more than big plays win games.

Stats can be very deceptive -- especially early in the season. Keep that in mind with regards to the Texans' running game too. BTW, Reggie Bush's rushing stats aren't all that fantastic yet either.

Our RB's have to be just about the worst group in the league. Two teams who would trade their group for ours....

hmmm, Maybe Jets. That seems like the only team we MIGHT be able to say we have a better group then. The Vikes might be a second team that is in at least the ballpark. That's about it.

We need to draft a RB in the 1st or 2nd rd. Our group is one inch away from pathetic.

Not the Vikes. They have Chester Taylor who is #4 in yards.

Right you are. Totally forgot about Taylor for some reason. Well, by my thinking, I would say it's the Jets or bust in terms of a team that might trade their group for ours.

LOL! I'd say bust. I don't know of any team that would want our RBs. I think Dayne could be a decent 3rd and short back. We lack the infamous quick hit the hole and cut RB that has been so easily aquired by the Broncos for so many years. Maybe Gado will emerge, who knows?:ok:

Leon Washington, Cedric Houston and Kevin Barlow would be a tremendous upgrade over Dayne, Gado and Lundy. We have the worst backfield in the league... by far.
