Morency starting against Eagles

JDizzle

I'm a dude
Just heard on ESPN Monday Night Countdown that Morency will start in place of Ahman Green (hamstring). Hopefully we didn't trade away a good back.

I hope he does well, too. I've always like Morency, so there's no reason to stop rooting for him now.

That's definitely a motivator to watch tonights game.
I to hope Morency has a good game tonight. I suspect Mr. Favre will say something to him if he doesn't pick up a blitz, one of the reasons, reportedly, the Texans traded him.
Good luck Vernand !

Uh-oh. As a Texan I want him to not do well. With all of the confidence talk today, this could kill us if he plays well as the featured back. The Texans personnel team is most likely biting their nails.

I just heard it as well. I hope he has a great game. I guess I'll find out if the hissy fit I threw after we traded Vernand was worth the energy or not...

I was a fan of Vernand myself, and I still think he's better than whoever else
we've got on our roster. Don't think we've got anybody with his quickness,
which is sure an element we are missing in out backfield. I hope I'm wrong.
But this is a game he can tell his grand kids about some day. He's starting in
his first NFL game on MNF with one of the greatest of our time in the backfield
with him.

I just hope he does well tonight. I like the guy and still wish he was here. He impressed me during the preseason and I wanted to see him on the field during the regular season, I think he got all of 3 carries in the regular season before being traded. I was shocked when I heard about the trade.

Might've had his 1st TD as a Packer if Favre hadn't thrown it out the back of the endzone w/o even looking at him. So far, he looks like a solid outlet receiver for GB.

And Houston is seeing why they made a mistake of letting Morency go. Forget that one step and hit the hole. Who said he couldn't do it? Picked up right where he left off in the preseason. Still running hard, hitting the hole fast when it is there and punishing the linebackers when he gets there. Ok, a fumble, but besides that, he rebounded pretty nice!

Besides the fumble he has looked pretty good IMO. I'm getting upset about the trade all over again...

I hope so. The front office/coaching staff combo aren't perfect. They need to be learning from some of the mistakes they make. I don't like seeing roster moves that at best don't help and at worst hurt the team on the field.

i dont know but it seem to me morency burst of speed is like 20x faster than any of our running back...bad trade is all i can say

I mean more along the lines that I think that Morency is more talented than Gado

Between what's all happened with that trade, Lundy's rise and fall, and signing Dayne, I've been scratching my head for a while now. I'm going on pure faith right now.

I've been saying it since the day of the trade and caught mucho hell for getting upset over the trade. Horrible trade.

Wali Lundy was supposed to be the speed and change of pace back and Dayne and Gado were supposed to be the pounding short yardage backs. That was great in theory but we are having trouble opening up holes on a regular basis so Lundy does not have many holes to run through and being a young guy and misses some when they are there. I think Kubiak is holding him out while the line working on their scheme so as not to teach him bad habits. Gado has did have some nice games in GB last year but lets face it we dont have Favre back there to help open things up. Thats one thing about the new coachs they have ties to other players and I think Sherman was impressed with Gado last year and wanted him here, the only back we really had of value to offer was Morency.

Morency can't block as well, does not hit the hole & run downhill as well but does seem to have better ability to catch & run in space. Morency is also smaller and older, give Gado a chance the line has yet to seperate & open holes for him, I wonder whats going on there

Watching Morency tonight is like watching a human canonball shooting out of the backfield compared to the 2 oafs we've got. I would much rather have a Dayne / Morency backfield than Dayne / Gado. Dayne and Gado look like the same back at times, the only time I can ever tell a difference is when Gado manages himself into the 2nd level and actually starts running.

Trung Candidate had speed.

how fast is lundy anyway... is 4.6 speed quick, cause that what they saw in nfl draft scout thingy...

Actually his stats were pretty good at the combine! He ran a 4.45, 40 at the combine and had a good 20 yard shuttle and really good 60 yd shuttle running a 11.27 which was faster than Maruce Drew of UCLA thats damn quick and above average agility.

Gado fastest time was at Patriots camp right out of college where he ran a 4.47 that is a damn nice time for a 220 guy at the time.

Morency ran slow times at the combine he was a 4.67 and 4.68 guy but it appears in pads he runs faster than that.

Lundy can move far better than he appears with some space, it does not fit us right now as we dont have a whole lot of holes to run through but he will surprise you when we get the proper blocking done in front of him.

i think before we rip the gado morency trade we should remember that gado has already played big in nfl action. he can run in this league.

there are many factors at work in why he hasnt produced that much since he got here and i think many of them are fairly obvious.

The Packer o-line was getting manhandled. They lost too many good blockers in the last year.

That's a fact. Held up for part of the game, but once they were needed to push the Eagles when they were making a statement stand, they couldn't do it.

96 total yards for Morency so far tonight. not bad.

Not bad at all. He made a couple of big mistakes, but I like his potential. Once he learns to protect the ball and make those catches, he could be a great back. One of his criticisms with our offense was his 'inability' to make one cut and run. But he looked pretty good tonight, and behind a better line, I bet he's a regular 100+ yard/game runner.

Weird we traded him. :um:
