Everyone is overreacting

I know we are 0-3 and mario williams has done nothng for us. I know we have been losing games in embaressing fashion, but honestly, the best of fans should have been ready for those loses. I wasnt expecting our run defense to be so bad, but give the team at lesat until week 6 to get things together. We have alsmot ALL new coaches, and hardley anyone at the positions they were at last year...i think on offense David Carr, Andre Johnson and Chester Pitts are the only people left at their old positions on offense and on defense Dunta Robinson, CC Brown and Glenn Earl are the only ones playing the same positions on Defense (3-4 to a 4-3 means everyone up front is doing something new). I'm not saying that everything is well and we dont have any problems, but to see how far and quickly the attitudes on this board have changed is incredible.

You cannot call Mario a bust yet, really, thats *****ic...judge him after the season and judge him on how he actually played and improved if he does improve, not his stats (he's a DE people).

Also, to those who think we should have drafted reggie now, but who had earlier supported mario...you are blind. I supported drafting bush before the season, now i know mario was the right, if not possibly unlucky decision. Our defense has played horrifically so yes, we definatly should have been taking the concensus best DEF. player on the board which we did.

The offense has looked great all things considered and would be scoring many more points once the def. stops allowing 8min drives and getting the ball back to the offense. 3 and outs are part of football, just cause you have one doesnt mean thats the end of your possession for the quarter like it has so far this season.
 
yes and look at why we allowed 8 min drives. we would do fine on first and 2nd down and it would be 3rd and long and we just plain couldnt stop them from converting. thats coaching, thats bad play calling. the first 2 downs showed the team can play defense, the 3rd down is all on the coaches and the DC. you play a soft cover 2 with 6 db's and then try to stop a screen to a running back or wide reciever and you are gonna lose.
 
I don't think this is overreacting. Sean Payton is a rookie head coach. He has the Saints at 3-0. At least the Detroit Lions have been able to stay competitive in their games. The Jets aren't playing bad either. Right now, it's between us and Oakland as the worst team in the league. I expected more from this club. Yeah, maybe I was too optimistic thinking we could get 9 or even 10 wins, but I expected them to look like a professional team at least. At this point, we don't.
 
Picking up Drew Brees in Free Agency and drafting Reggie Bush looks like the best decision made by any team this past offseason. If you guys had done that I think you'd be in much better shape.

The Saints are starting 1 rookie..... None on Defense.

teams are converting an abominable 68 percent on 3rd downs against us This is totally unacceptable. Coach has to fix it now or we wont have a chance no matter how good we play.

We are giving up almost 500 yards a game on defense. Drew and Reggie couldn't help much there.

Eh, wrong I think. Not that Drew and Reggie wouldn't be upgrades at their respective positions, but if you haven't noticed our defense is playing so poorly it's irrelevant what our offense does.

Of course you are overreacting..... it's three weeks into the season, and we are on track to finish exactly how the majority of the posters on this board thaught we would end up.....

5-11...... 7-9........ somewhere along that line.

yeah.... we gave up 1500 yards in three games..... that ain't right... does warrant some concerns......

but we want to fire our new defensive coordinator, our new Defensive line coach, we want to trade away this #1 overall for a happy meal.

It's not like Kubiak put this group of 53 guys together anyway. Most of them are not his guys....... they aren't anything like his guys. They are the best of what the other guy sold McNair on.

Weaver is his guy. Mario is his guy...... Demeco..... he's one of Kubes guys...

If Kubiak could pick from anyplayer in the league, & any player/players he wanted in the draft..... these are the guys he would pick.

Not Morlon(I play LB like a FS) Greenwood. NOt Sanders....... both who would be on the bench if Wong or Faggins were healthy. As good as Dunta is supposed to be, Kubiak may very well not have drafted him where we did........ he might have, but we don't really know.

3 out of 11 guys on Defense were hand picked by GaryKubiak...... the others..... was stuff he just had laying around.
 
You made many good points...Injuries especially have hurt this D.

Things will get better for the D...Some day...Until then, I would like to see better schemes from Smith and more enthusiasm from the players.

I have watched the game film 3 times now on dvd and it's just plain awful and I refuse to accept that as a fan.

They should be held accountable and flamed every day in this forum until they at least show some kind of progress and/or HEART.
