As I find out, during surgery they confirmed and repaired a ruptured MCL, a ruptured medial capsule, a torn meniscus...................as well as the ligament I was sure was also ruptured...........the ACL [for this combination of injuries, definitely sustained a formal dislocation of his knee]. In a multiligament trauma, the ACL is commonly staged. In Chubb's case, the ACL repair will be addressed sometime in the next 2-3 months. Also undoubtedly, there has been significant articular damage................additional to the time he previously in 2015 sustained a serious multi-trauma to his knee............a dislocated knee, 3 torn ligaments (posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral and lateral collateral) and articular cartilage damage. The surgeon and team is now reporting that he will return for the 2024 season. If he is even able to return at all, which I believe is questionable, you will not be seeing the Nick Chubb you know. He'll likely also be looking at microfracture surgery.

The Giants would be so much better if they played Neal at LG and Thomas at LG. My Giants ol would look like this,

Thomas, Neal, Schmidtz/Brederson Peart.

I would hope to add Alt in the draft in the 1st next year.

I've watched zero Raiders football this year. What happened to Wilson'? I thought that guy was a dude.

Garoppolo is still in the Concussion Protocol after 13 days. It is interesting to see that this year, the NFL seem to be treating concussions with a little more respect. No concussed player has returned to play in the next game. This is in stark contrast to previous years when players were cleared just 4-5 days post concussion. I saw no way that a player could have gone through the Protocol appropriately in that period of time.

Tytus Howard hasn't been signed to the 53, yet. But Rivers was released today to make room for someone. Assuming it's Howard, and except for the rust, will he be close to 100%?

Bakhtiari needs 5th knee surgery, out for season

David Bakhtiari needs at least one more surgery on his left knee -- the fifth since he tore it on Dec. 31, 2020 -- and he won't be able to return to the Packers this season.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- David Bakhtiari needs at least one more surgery on his left knee -- the fifth since he tore his ACL on Dec. 31, 2020 -- and he won't be able to return to the Green Bay Packers this season.

The question is whether, for health or financial reasons, the five-time All-Pro left tackle will ever play for the club -- or any other team -- again.

The upcoming surgery, Bakhtiari said, is to address the lateral femoral Condyle cartilage tear he sustained during the initial injury. The reason it wasn't repaired from the start, he said, was because there was a chance it wouldn't be problematic going forward.
 
RB Saquon Barkley was originally reported on Sept 18 to have sustained a minor low ankle sprain. He is listed as "Questionable." It is unlikely that he plays, which makes it the 3rd week he will have missed. The reports have later been changed to high ankle sprain. Expect that he is ready to return 1-3 weeks from now.

QB Richardson landed on his right shoulder while rushing. Looks like an A/C separation. Went in for xrays.......probably to rule out clavicle fracture and/or determine classification of separation.
 
Colts Richardson has had Grade III A/C shoulder separation. It is reported that he will be out for 3 weeks. It seems that anything less than 5-6 weeks is not likely. Richardson is going to have a 2nd opinion by a shoulder expert. Also, further shoulder damage must also be carefully ruled out.............~20% of these high grade A/C tears are associated with intraarticular pathology with most of these being superior labrum anterior posterior (SLAP) lesions (lesions that are missed in 20-25% on MRI). The only gold standard to evaluate this is via shoulder arthroscopy. If either his Grade III tear or labrum is deemed to be best treated with surgery, he could expect a 3-6 month recovery.
 
Cowboys special teams ace C.J. Goodwin has been reported by the team to have torn his pectoralis muscle. He has actually ruptured his pectoralis tendon.............he will be done for the season.
 
Kevin Stefanski: Deshaun Watson will be out there as soon as he’s functionally ready

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson missed Week Four with a right shoulder injury and his status for Week Six is up in the air at this point.

Watson remained inside the team’s facility while the rest of the team returned from their bye week with an on-field practice session. During a press conference, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the quarterback will be back on the field as soon as he is “functionally ready.”

Stefanski said last week that Watson was medically cleared and didn’t feel capable of playing against Baltimore after a pregame warmup, but General Manager Andrew Berry said no one watching that workout thought Watson was well enough to play.

“He’s doing everything in his power, working around the clock with rehab. He’s just doing what he’s being told to do in terms of his rehab process,” Stefanski said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

The Browns will practice again on Wednesday and they’ll release their first injury report ahead of next Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
 
Looks like another Cowboy will be hitting the dirt...........the Cowboys will be placing LB Leighton Vander Esch on at least 4 week IR for a neck injury. In college, he missed 3 games for a neck injury.

From what I have been able to find out, he was born with cervical spinal stenosis, a condition featuring a narrowed spinal column in the neck. The health issue leads to increased pinched nerves and possibly bulging or herniated disk. In 2019, he sustained another neck injury and missed the final 7 games of the Cowboys season. Then in 2020, Vander Esch underwent minimally invasive neck surgery to correct the anatomical constrictions.

He is to undergo an MRI today to further define his injury.

The full details have now trickled in. Here they are, per a source with knowledge of the terms.

1. Signing bonus: $10.248 million.

2. 2023 base salary: $784,556, fully guaranteed.

3. 2024 base salary: $7.804 million, fully guaranteed.

4. 2024 per-game roster bonus: $510,000, fully guaranteed as of the third day after contract execution.

5. 2025 base salary: $11.98 million, $7.152 million of which is guaranteed for injury at signing. The $7.152 million becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2024 league year.

6. 2025 per-game roster bonus: $1.02 million total.

7. 2026 base salary: $11.98 million.

8. 2026 per-game roster bonus: $1.02 million total.
 
Bills TE Dalton Kincaid was evaluated for a concussion in Sunday's game and was cleared to return to play. Today, he finds himself in the concussion protocol.

Every time I feel the NFL may be becoming more conservative in concussion evaluations, they revert to old ways.

14 % of players in the Concussion Protocol still get cleared within 1 week.
