I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO JAIL. Which he should have. You were among those who underestimate Watson's skills on the field.
I had told you many times how a bidding war can end up.
Even from the early stage when I showed you links of how Steve Young said 3 first round picks for Watson was a no-brainer.
There were multiple buyers at ALL stages of the process.
It was just you that didn't think Watson could brings boat load of picks.
I had tried to tell you otherwise.
Who was right?
Certainly not you.
SMDHSecondly, your hoping that Mills start next year does not rhyme with your wanting a franchise QB that will take the team to a SB.
You've been trying to tell us that you want a guy who can win it all, yet you still have thoughts that Mills may do so badly that the Texans will have a chance to draft first on 2024.
Again, you're talking out both sides of your mouth, and you don't even realize it.
Nope, not the way he was wildly inconsistent before he was benched again.Do you think Mills could have been more successful with an extra 20-30 yards per game on the ground last season? A few more first downs per game can make a huge difference - especially in key moments.
Out of those skill positions for the teams listed would you please rank them for me.What there was is that they had worse offensive line, some with a worse running game, receiving corp, depending on the year.
But they were never ranked at the bottom.
Burrow - Coming off possibly the greatest college QB season everComing out of college, where do you rank these guys
Burrows, Young, Stroud, Watson, Herbert
Ends to a means in this case has nothing to do with communism. Nice try at deflecting though.Man, I came from Vietnam.
I hate the talk about the end and the means. Communism and all.
Bad memories it bring, even though I was barely 16 when I left the country .
Yep, Mills has some flaws. But he's got arm talent (and good throwing form when he doesn't fall back into bad habits like bad foot toss), physical tools and showed a great ability to adapt quickly as a rookie to put up strongish numbers. So, I'm pretty confident there's more upside up with the right coaching and better cast... Whether that's in Houston after his rookie deal expires remains to be seen. He'll get another shot to start somewhere if the Houston ship has sailed. Still a strong backup QB option to have for the next couple of years. If DM has any smarts, he will be spending as much time as possible working with a QB coach somewhere - that is if he has any desire to be more than a backup in this league - I hope so as he has the physical traits and tools and can throw the ball well enough.
It's understandable that he lacks confidence but he also seems to lack that fire you want to see. Perhaps that will come once he gets some confidence but I wouldn't bank on it.
When I first got here to the States (in Shreveport, Louisiana) I had had some schooling at the Vietnamese-American Cultural Center in Saigon m
My first English teacher in the US gave us an essay to write, kinda like what you did last summer.
And I wrote about the ordeal when the four of us siblings left the country on the floor of a cargo plane , a C-41.
I still has it somewhere in the garage.
Whether I got some slack from the teacher is not the point.
My classmates, my friends, couldn't believe that I was proficient in English.
Yes, I killed it in all the Math and Science classes, but it was in English that I really earned it.
I even had the audacity to sign up for the Speech class in the second semester. I just want to learn and to improve myself even though I was in a clear disadvantage.
It was not the grade that I was after.
I didn't want to prove anything either.
I just figured I wanted to be normal, just as if I was still back in Vietnam.
On that end, it really helped me with my English.
It helped me to adapt quickly to life in America.
I made a lot of friends.
Guys on the football team, basketball team, soccer team, speech team, science team, math team.
I had a chance to mingle with them on Friday nights, go to the town square after games, go to the hang out place afterward, got accepted.
To me, that was a highlight.
To be able to hang out with a lot of different friends in highschool.
I also worked through highschool.
My classmates would see me (among "white boys and colored boys") at the school cafeteria.
Rarely did any of them saw me working after class.
I loved it all and would not change it for the world.
I learned a good bit of things from Mr. Buford, who learned me how to use tools from the hammer on.
What the heck, I just thought I share it here.
Truth. Herbert can play. But not having all his weapons on field together and for him to still do that well….. sounds like some good coaching to me. Somewhere. Someone is coaching him up
Think about how many more games they could've won if they had run the ball more effectively in the 4th qtr.Do you think Mills could have been more successful with an extra 20-30 yards per game on the ground last season? It's harder to be wildly inconsistent when you're handing the ball off more often.Nope, not the way he wildly inconsistent before he was benched again.
Or 3rd and short or deep in the red zone.Think about how many more games they could've won if they had run the ball more effectively in the 4th qtr.
Which might have had something to do with Cooks quitting and Collins getting hurt again.Nope, not the way he wildly inconsistent before he was benched again.
Or how about just a competent short offense period. Man, Pep Hamilton was the absolute worst playcaller ever in short down situations. This had nothing to do with the QB being unable to execute.Or 3rd and short or deep in the red zone.
Burrow - Coming off possibly the greatest college QB season ever
Young - Two years of dominant performances in the SEC
Watson - Proven winner with upside
Herbert - 4 year starter with production and upside
Stroud - Two outstanding seasons, still has upside

Fair assessment. I always personally believed Mills ultimate upside was a Derek Carr or Matt Ryan (non-outlier years) type player. That seems about right. Which is why he'll likely get a shot somewhere to see if he can become that... And yes, fair or not, 2022 was his chance. So, we move on to Plan B. Just hoping we get this right because we're saddled to this guy for 3 years if he's a high lottery pick.Fair or not, this was Mill's year to prove he was more than a guy who can play well when things around him or near perfect. Outside of a game or two, Davis performed bottom five week-in week-out. Not many 3rd round NFL QBs get two years as the clear starter.
IMO, Davis Mills at his best is Dak Prescott/Kurt Cousins range player. And that's going to take a tom of time, coaching, and talent around Mills to make it even that far.

I don't either. But more than that, I just don't want them to get this pick wrong. At least with a dev guy like Richardson or Hooker out of the high lottery, the team won't be significantly impaired if they don't turn out. I don't want Stroud either. We will never no because from the coaching and the weapons around him things were far from perfect. In fact they were down right bad. I dont see anything wrong with drafting weapons for Mills to work with and then drafting a QB in 2024. Seems like a good plan to me. Unless you believe in Young/Stroud/Levis, which I dont.
Reading comprehension. It's important in understanding what someone is saying through the written word.Proven winner
Other than Burrow what has any of these guys won?
Those are pretty good players. I gave Mills a Sage Rosenfels comp after watching his first preseason game in 2021. If I had a do over, I'd say Sage Rosenfels...without the mobility.IMO, Davis Mills at his best is Dak Prescott/Kurt Cousins range player.

Especially when other teams are trying to lose, as well.It is hard to 4 win or less bad for four consecutive years.
Mills is a good guy…but wouldn’t be good with 10 future hall of famers around him. He is total and utter garbage as an NFL starter and needs a one way ticket to the USFL or XFL so he can weasel his way back on a roster as a #2 somewhere. Hopefully the team in Outer Mongolia or on a deserted island somewhere so I don’t have to watch that trash again. I’d rather pull my eyeballs out with toothpicks than watch that trash play again.
TK apparently didn't understand my question then.Reading comprehension. It's important in understanding what someone is saying through the written word.
Like when @thunderkyss asks, how do you rank these QBs coming out of college? Deshawn Watson had just completed a college career where he went to back to back national championship games, winning one in his last season in dramatic fashion. Largely because of his performances.
But when it’s time to make plays, he failed big time. So to expect him to do it with less passes, I believe it would’ve been the sameIt's harder to be wildly inconsistent when you're handing the ball off more often.
Give him Tyreke Hill and Kelce and I bet you see a different result. But when it’s time to make plays, he failed big time. So to expect him to do it with less passes, I believe it would’ve been the same
Pretty sure we witnessed 3 game winning drives on the road in the division this year. But when it’s time to make plays, he failed big time. So to expect him to do it with less passes, I believe it would’ve been the same
No it didn’t have anything to do with his play before and shortly after the biweek. Go back and look at the timetable dude versus trying to come up with these excuses for Mills poor play, the led to him get benched again.Which might have had something to do with Cooks quitting and Collins getting hurt again.
Not when he’s throwing at their feet or sailing passes. Man stop the madnessGive him Tyreke Hill and Kelce and I bet you see a different result.
Looks like the next Stafford to me, unless the Chargers fix that team quick, if it’s not too late already.Truth. Herbert can play. But not having all his weapons on field together and for him to still do that well….. sounds like some good coaching to me. Somewhere. Someone is coaching him up
Brandin Cooks mailing it in most of the season did not help.Agree. We ain't trying to say Mills is a Burrow/Herbert/Allen, but it is blatantly obvious to any serious student of the game that Mills was in one of the worst situations in the entire league.
You can bet any one of the aforementioned three would also have looked mortal last season if they were in the same situation.
Before Cooks mailed it in the dude couldn’t hit the side of the barn standing right next to it.Brandin Cooks mailing it in most of the season did not help.
The fact that he left college with just 11 starts as a starter should have been a flag. That works in the NBA but not the NFL.
Is there anything I said that wasn't the truth?
If they would just get better at getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers they would have won a lot… sorry, forgot. We don’t have any play makers.Think about how many more games they could've won if they had run the ball more effectively in the 4th qtr.
So how would you rank them?Proven winner
Other than Burrow what has any of these guys won?
Watson- 51-7, no more needs to be said
Young- The only Alabama QB in the lasy 4 QB's not to win a national championship (McCarron/Tua/Jones/ heck, you can even throw Hurts in there)
Herbert- Speaks for itself
Stroud could even beat Michigan in his last 2 yrs of starting, unlike all of the other Ohio St. busts that made Michigan their step child.
Good point.Fair or not, this was Mill's year to prove he was more than a guy who can play well when things around him or near perfect. Outside of a game or two, Davis performed bottom five week-in week-out. Not many 3rd round NFL QBs get two years as the clear starter.
TK apparently didn't understand my question then.
I wasn’t talking to you. I wasn’t answering any question you asked.Sorry I wasn't clear in the question I asked TK.
Passing is his main weakness. But when it’s time to make plays, he failed big time. So to expect him to do it with less passes, I believe it would’ve been the same
I saw him make some plays when they let him play. But when it’s time to make plays, he failed big time. So to expect him to do it with less passes, I believe it would’ve been the same
Since passing is his weakness, then why is on this team, or in the NFL for all that matters. One dimensional is not a recipe for success in the NFL. You’ll need the threat of the psss to keep defenses honest. Or they will stack the box, like that did last season to stop the run.Passing is his main weakness.
Handing the ball off is a no brainier if you're struggling as a passer.
No. Cooks quit much earlier than it got public. He wasn’t the dependable Captain at any time in the 2022 seasonBefore Cooks mailed it in the dude couldn’t hit the side of the barn standing right next to it.
And the time table shows Cooks quit way after the biweek. More than Half the season was played already.
BurrowSo how would you rank them?
Burrows, Young, Stroud, Watson, Herbert
I'm certainly not against goingIf they would just get better at getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers they would have won a lot… sorry, forgot. We don’t have any play makers.
we could draft a QB with 1.2, then an offensive playmaker at 1.12 & 2.2 & as long as Caserio is perfect everything will be everything
I saw him make some plays when they let him play.
When they bottled everything up & ask him to make plays on demand things didn’t go well for him.
I do get it. I understand wanting to move on. I just don’t like options right now. I saw all the bad you saw, still I think the best thing we could do to truly fix this team has nothing to do with the QB.
We’ve got to do something about QB. We’ve got one on the roster right now. But I don’t want to spend big money in FA. I don’t want to spend high draft picks on QB.
I’m looking at a list like this, most likely two of the inexpensive options will be in TC competing for a starting job.
Cooper Rush, but Dallas would be stupid to let him go.
CJ Bethard, high probability he’ll be in SanFran of the Gulf Coast.
Nate Sudfield… hmmm.
No he didn’t. He quit when Easterby was canned.No. Cooks quit much earlier than it got public. He wasn’t the dependable Captain at any time in the 2022 season
