DW4 Traded to Cleveland

I'm quite happy and very blessed. These entertainers have no effect on my life. Other than the enjoyment of seeing them progress through high school/college/pro's. Heck I dont like pro football near as much as I do college ball. It's why I enjoy the draft.

But nice try at deflection. Agreed with the last sentence of your post. But we must treat them with love anyways. However this doesn't mean we cant think Derrick's a horrible human being and pray that one day he will see the light and become a selfless human being. I wouldn't bet on this ever happening. Nor would I ever want my family ever around him.
I think R. Kelly is an amazing artist but a proven pedophile. Bill Cosby is the reason black stunt people were used vs white people in black face, but he's a proven rapist. I can seperate the entertainer from the person especially in sports and hollywood. I think OJ did it or at least had a major hand in it, but he's one of the greatest runners ever.

Who would be up for grabs on ATL?
CB Terell, S Grant and G Lindstrom?

3. OT Ikem Ekwonu
8 CB Sauce Gardner
37 WR George Pickens
43 DE Drake Jackson
58 TE Trey McBride
68 RB Kenneth Walker III
74 G Jamaree Salyer
80 ILB Brandon Smith

Good Lord. I just rebuilt the team.

This is why they will be better off without Derick than with him.

Agreed.

If he wasnt intrested, why would he take a meeting? Being in the afc isnt a deterrant. I mean hell, he he BOB as a coach and Tim Kelley as oc, so I doubt he's scared of the afc. The Browns are his best option to win with those 2 backs and that playcalling. Even with Baker Mayfield they won 11 games.
Because he's a very dumb guy, who craves attention. You're acting like he's a normal rationale human being.
It also wouldn't surprise me that wants to include a couple of "lesser bids" so that if he picks a "suboptimal" choice for the Texans, he can say he didn't choose the team with the least return.

I don’t think Watson will be able to hold out and drag this out like some think he will. These teams are going to want to have a decision soon because they have to know what direction to go this off season.

Also a lot of free agency is on hold while the NFL looks to see where he will go. There are moves being made but it’s mostly the other big names like Wilson or Miller.

From my understanding Texans aren’t even letting someone at the table unless they can meet the ante. I also don’t think they are letting Watson know exactly what each team has offered because frankly that’s none of his business.

Ouch if you are in the Browns FO

And THIS makes it sound worse

The Browns want an "ADULT at QB"...........oh well, then Watson is certainly the wise choice! :toropalm:

It would be if the Texans were in the driver’s seat. Unfortunately Watson is looking to F over the Texans. It doesn’t matter to him that they paid him 10 million last season and didn’t hit his punk ash with fines. What I heard today was Atlanta is the team he wants to play for. They came into the running because him and his team reached out to them.

Give me two seconds as Texans representative to make this statement to Watson and Mulugheta.

You two will waive your NTC for the deal that best works in the Texans interest. Try to deal a second blow to this organization and all offers will be turned down so we can personally watch your NFL career flame out with you sitting on the sidelines. You will get paid but we will find each and every way to suspend you with no pay along the way. So you either get on board or you can quit football and watch whatever endorsement deals you have left dry up.

The Brown’s picked up Mayfield’s 5th year option at 18.9M dollars. Browns won’t find a taker for Baker at that price or even half that price. With the CFL and USFL off the table, the Browns would have to cut Baker or pay his contract for 2022 to get another NFL team to take him.

Browns have a 18.9M dollar hit for 2022 before taking on Watson’s contract…..unless they renegotiate Watson’s contract while giving him a fairly substantial signing bonus to off-set his cap hit it’s going to be interesting to hear how far the Browns are willing to go to have Watson wearing brown and orange.

If a deal could be struck….it’s going to be the Browns dropping their pant this go round.

Browns Get:
QB- Deshaun Watson **That’s It!!!**

Texans Get:
2022
RD1-013
RD2-044
RD3-078
RD3-099
2023
RD1
RD2
2024
RD1

It’s going to cost them in picks since they’ll get to keep their current team in tact once Watson arrives. The compensation is going to be high b/c the 2023 and 2024 picks could be much closer to the next round. I just hope Caserio is familiar with the movie “Deliverance” when he’s talking with the Browns.

Not a factor but as with "I got the highest contract!" DW can possible say "I got a team to give up all that!" Remember Tunsil saying when he heard what was given to Miami "I would have traded me, too!"
I actually don’t think he is like that. It’s hard for me to explain but every picture I see of him, young or old, he seems to be passive and distant, not in an intelligent way but in a lost way. He seems like a lost loner to me and perhaps football is his touchstone. But I still can’t wait to trade his ass.

But Nick wants to add a few young players in that deal. So it’s going to be more than just draft picks.

I said him because he’s always saying that in a lot of his responses when it comes to this type of topic. He also told me on here that if they don’t draft the players he wants. And the players that they do draft doesn’t pan out, he’s going all in on them, mainly Lovie. ( paraphrasing). It all started when Lovie was hired as the HC. He claimed Cal is not allowing Caserio to do his job. Therefore, the draft is all on Lovie, since Cal is not allowing Caserio to do his job.
Doesn't make sense - I can't see Cal brokering the deals that Caserio does.

As I've stated before it's not just about the draft picks if Caserio is receiving Young players on rookie contracts as he allegedly stated and others have hinted at. Those have to be figured in and at this point we don't know who or even if. For example Carolina's Chinn and Brian Burns trump's Atlanta's cornerback Terrell.

David Johnson, Jacob Martin, and B. Mingo have me jaded on receiving players in a trade.

I shouldn’t judge this FO with the prior.

That's what I would suspect since looking at the media-reported team offers certainly are not "equals" in value. But although the Texans might not be sharing things with Watson, it is not unlikely that some or all teams are. Be aware that when meeting with each of these teams, Watson is accompanied by his "representatives."

That would be great, but the Texans can't suspend him..........all would be at the mercy of Goodell and his "discipline committee".........entities that are just as likely to protect their interests instead of the Texans'.

Would be foolish anyway. Whether we Like it or not, these guys control everything. We don’t come to see the owners sitting in the owners boxes or the HC’s talk into headsets. We come to see the players play.

it would be in the best interest of NC and the Texans to play along (to a point) with DW4 so that all parties are reasonably satisfied with the outcome. I believe that is the approach NC has taken & so far it’s been effective..at least it appears that way from the outside.

yes, I don't what day is the breaking point for the Texans or for the interested teams, but decision will sooner than later even if not today. All invivled will give Watson a little time, but those other teams want to know what going on before too much of the off season gets away from them.

and while I am more than a year plus ready for this spit to be over, Watson just got the equal for four legitimate job offers. Wouldn't you take a day or two to talk with family, mentor, etc to make sure that you taking the right one for you.

The Saints have also been creating cap space by restructuring players’ contracts, and Field Yates of ESPN reports that they’re now up to $29.9 million in cap space. Watson will have a $35 million cap hit on his current contract, so that’s how much space the Saints would need to acquire him. It’s possible that they could create another $5.1 million in cap space by including a player with a salary of at least $5.1 million to the Texans as part of the deal. Bottom line, if the Saints don’t get Watson, the salary cap won’t be the reason.

  • The Saints opened up some extra cap space earlier today. According to ESPN’s Field Yates (on Twitter), the team restructured the contracts of defensive tackle David Onyemata and offensive tackle James Hurst. The moves saved the team an extra $7.015MM. Onyemata inked a three-year, $27MM deal with the Saints in 2020, and he already reworked his contract last offseason. A year ago yesterday, Hurst inked a three-year, $9MM extension with New Orleans.

It’s also worth noting that the Saints have restructured the contracts of quarterback Taysom Hill, cornerback Bradley Roby, linebacker DeMario Davis and safety Malcolm Jenkins, as Field Yates of ESPN.com (Twitter link) notes. Between those moves and other restructures, the Saints now have roughly $30MM in cap room, which would be enough to absorb Watson’s contract.

I agree with you to a point. Sure, take a minute…but at the same time, he’s been sitting on his ass for a whole year & he’s had more than enough time to contemplate. I’m also sure there’s been some back-channel communicating thru agents too.

The other thing too is we’re assuming this is him holding everything up b/c of how it is being reported. For all we know, He may already know where he wants to go, he’s just waiting to announce. we may just be waiting on NC and the team to hammer out the details /finish negotiating.

Especially with New Orleans 2nd meeting and clearing out contract thing that is now underway.

Cal is letting Caserio do his job. Only Caserio's job description has been revised. Caserio is no longer responsible for hiring the HC and the coaching staff. Remember last year in the Culley debacle 1.0 where Caserio had the coaching staff hired before hiring Culley?

This year after it became clear Caserio was well on his was to be repeating another Culley debacle 2.0 head coach search comedy show, Cal had to step in, hire Lovie and make some changes. It was clear to all that Caserio was not the manager Cal thought he was.

If you've watched the Lovie and Caserio press conferences and interviews after lovie became HC, then you would know that changes have been made. Lovie said he would be the one to hire his coaching staff. And he did. Lovie said that he and his coaching staff would be bringing in players that fit their systems. And they are. Lovie standing front and center at Georgia's Pro Day while Nick was still in Houston should tell you something. Lovie taking away Caserio's headset could not make it any clearer that there is a new sheriff in town.

So what is Caserio's new job description? Assist Lovie in player personnel decisions to include: when directed to sign FA's, process trades, oversee scouting dept., coordinate the draft, processing the coaches staff draft picks, taking calls about trades, advising Lovie on trade ups and trade downs. Some folks say that Caserio would not stand for this. I remind them that there are $30MM reasons why Nick Caserio is loving it. Nick is probably now relieved that he's no longer on the road to becoming Scott Pioli 2.0.

All due respect this is 100% conjecture. It's like taking a few known facts and weaving a book from it and you'll just fill in the details to suit your POV.

I get it, but let's at least call it what it is - made up whole cloth weaved from a few known threads.

Most of the crowd who expected Watson to spend years behind bars are now saying that he’ll probably face a suspension once traded. If this were the case, Goodell would be suspending Watson whether he’s with the Texans or his new team. If he’s with the Texans and gets suspended, that could give the Texans a few options…..like cutting him and voiding his contract. Of course this move hurts the Texans since they get nothing in return and Watson becomes a UFA. It could hurt Watson since he may not get the same contract right away. On the lower end….Texans would void his pay during the suspension. Might hurt if the suspension is 9-10 games or for the season.

But that wouldn’t be smart business. Those team shouldn’t disclose that type of information at all.

Saints will likely restructure most of DW4 contract. His salary this year may only be $3MM.

Agreed and really it doesn't help their case because, depending on what they offered, he knows that team is going to be losing out on a lot to get him so if he goes to a team because they have X player and then finds out X player is part of the trade package it might change his mind. That being said teams have done dumber things.
