NFL Random Thought of the Day

Shoutout to three Texans friends who visited Stadium 31 on Sunday to complete their quest to see the Texans play in all NFL stadiums!

Awesome! What do they still have left? But that couldn't have been 31. Vegas and LA are too new, and we haven't played there yet. I'm assuming they might have seen those Texans play those teams at their old places?

Urban is about to want to "spend some time with family" again.

Uh-oh...

the last tweet was a video of the middle girl (or another girl that might just look like her) grinding all over Urban. I guess it got deleted.

Edit. Here's a youtube video. FF to 6:50 if it doesn't doe it on its own.

Oh, no... lol...

PFF just put out numbers that said Parsons (Who took double teams to help free up guys like Gregory) and Diggs that had 2 ints yesterday were 2 of the worst defenders on the Cowboys defense yesterday.

You can make numbers say whatever you want them to say.

I know that they traveled to every Texans road game and possibly counted the old stadiums. I will confirm.

That Parsons and Diggs kid are legit.

Roethlisberger had already been dealing with a pectoral injury sustained early in the season. The Steelers and he have looked terrible. Now it is reported that Roethlisberger is dealing with hip issues. Although not previously reported, I strongly suspect that with his extensive ankle ankle injury history that he has had progressive compensatory hip joint trauma/degeneration in addition to direct traumas from being sacked 526 times over the years.

An update on Gronkowski..........he has 4 fractured ribs AND a punctured lung. Tough mutha! Amazingly, after the hit, he played the remainder of the game, was targeted 5 times with 1 catch.

So what hit caused this, or was it a succession of hits?

Another week, another missed pass interference call on last play of game
October 5, 2021,

Last week, officials missed a blatant instance of pass interference (actually, two of them) in the win by the Chargers over the Chiefs. This week, it happened again.

On the final play of the Browns-Vikings game, with Cleveland leading 14-7, Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins threw the ball to the end zone on a play that started 32 yards from the end zone. Browns defensive back Greedy Williams mugged Vikings receiver Adam Thielen in the end zone, keeping him from making a player on the ball.

Watch the video embedded in this link. Clearly, the Browns player has Thielen wrapped up and prevented from getting to the ball. No flag was thrown.

Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy has pointed out the failure to throw a flag, saying that he’s “anxiously awaiting” an explanation from the league for the failure to make the call.

He likely won’t be getting one. The NFL has taken a zero transparency approach to officiating controversies, with no one from the league office ever being made available to publicly explain the reasons for close calls and, when necessary, to admit that mistakes were made. The league benefits from bad calls that happen in the cluster of 1:00 p.m. ET games, minimizing the attention given to any specific blunders. By keeping their heads low and their mouths shut, the NFL also doesn’t draw attention to a situation that otherwise could be ignored, or at least minimized.

It’s not a sustainable approach. Without transparency, people will believe that the fix is in. Without accountability, people will believe the fix is in. Without a mechanism for helping people understand why decisions were made (with something more than perfunctory language that fails to delve into the details of each call and non-call), people will believe the fix is in.

In an age of exploding legalized gambling, the last thing the league needs is a critical mass of people who think the fix is in.

**********************************************************************

With so many recent potential and overt game-altering calls/no calls, and the new policy of essentially no transparency, it becoming more and more difficult to ignore the elephant in the room.....................the opened flood gates of legalized gambling on football.

I just found out something. Did you know that every NFL football already has a GPS tracking chip embedded. But the NFL is only using it to track player data for Next Generation Stats. This is despite the fact that it is capable of determining where the ball can accurately be marked down, if the ball has crossed the first down marker or the goal line, or if the ball was snapped before the play clock ran down, or to determine if a receiver was hit prior to him actually touching the ball, plus probably many other situations that require non-subjective decisions. The question is, what is the NFL afraid of...........a fair and honest game?

This has been repeated by several sources.
Meyer often made recruiting visits after games while at Florida and Ohio State.

So, this was just business as usual.

That might be a normal practice in college, but sounds like it's unheard of in the NFL, especially for a 1st year coach, with an 0-4 record. I don't know how he regains any sort of authority in that locker room, when a good part of his job as a HC is to make sure his players stay out of trouble.

And when you put yourself on that self-righteous pedestal of being the ultimate family man, you can't afford slip ups like this. This pic isn't even the worst of it. Scroll up a bit. I posted a video that surfaced after his apology press conf, where he's acting like he's trying to grab a bowling ball.

The NFL game is played by two groups, the players and the officials. Both can determine the outcome of a game through mistakes. For the players, that's fine, it's "part of the game". But for the officials you don't think of it in that manner, but it's there. They can determine the outcome of the game as much as the players do, and until that's fixed, the game is susceptible to outcomes NOT determined by player action. Which is wrong, especially when you throw in gambling.

Baker Mayfield is still dealing with the effects of the left shoulder injury he suffered against the Texan 2 weeks ago. He hasn't looked good since, but the Browns say that his non-throwing shoulder injury (subluxation) is not affecting him. He has worn a harness on his left shoulder since the Texans game. Just an FYI, when a non-throwing shoulder is injured, it still affects a QB. Accuracy requires the non-throwing arm to "balance" out a throw. Without that "balance," accuracy becomes a problem.

Christian McCaffrey Press Conference

Sounds like a player you would want, not only for his performance prowess, but for his attitude. He speaks out about Thursday Night Football games. Very much worth listening to.

This is his first experience with a hamstring tear...........he is anxious to play Sunday................I hope he tethers his enthusiasm for one more week, as even with that extra week, he remains significant risk for recurrent injury.

week 2/3 without a manning cast... with that London game, and the European soccer international break, there will be an nfl game on my tv from early AM to well into the night on my tv Sunday.
