Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

I haven't seen all the filed cases but the ones I did see had an element of she said/he said about them.
Buzbee is trying to establish a pattern - but of what exactly? Nothing has been proven yet which is why Buzbee is bringing in more and more women.
Sling a lot of shyt and hope enough of it sticks.

I thought of that too, but it is starting to look like opportunism on the part of Buzbee and the plaintiffs.
For example, no polices reports have been filed. It also has the smell of hindsight complaining.
To me, the needle has swung back Watson's way.
I'm not saying he is completely innocent in this as he obviously made some poor decisions.
However, looking at other similar cases involving high profile people, these things do tend to get a little overblown and eventually fade from people's consciousness.
I don't see his value decreasing by much.
I do think Texans may hold out a bit longer - just to drive the price back up.
My $0.02c

What needle are you talking about? This is just getting started. You guys around here have some funny ideas about how the legal system works. On top of all that the NFL may still suspend him just for making the league look bad and in their ruling it doesn’t matter if he’s guilty or innocent.

this reddit thread has all the cases and someone helpfully wrote a synopsis of each one:

if they claim to be assaulted and yet came back to him two more times again
That’s a different matter.

we're supposed to believe them just because they're the woman and he's the man?

Not at all what I’m saying. Not just because she is a woman & he’s a man. I’m not saying she’s a prostitute. But if she is & she says no, it means no.

Are you trying to say since she presents herself a certain way, everything is fair game? That we should be able to force ourselves on any woman in high heels & a low cut top? Because that’s what it sounds like you’re saying.

“She looks like a sex worker. It’s ok to sexually assault them.”

Surely that’s not what you’re saying, right?

DW deserves a fair shake and how these women portrayed themselves on IG is part of determining whether their side of the story is believable or not.

Yes. DW deserves a fair shake.

I’m not saying he’s guilty or innocent. But I’m not one of those who can look at a picture taken 5 days ago & determine if they are lying about something that happened a year ago.

Buzbee is proving a point. He is following through on what he probably told Watson if he didn’t settle from the beginning. Pay me the cash or I ruin you. Now when Buzbee tells people to pay him the cash or he will ruin them, those people will pay after seeing Watson go down.

I agree but I dont agree that most fans wouldn’t accept him back if innocent. Don’t think that would be a problem but he’s going to have to change his attitude in general, shut up, work hard and clean up the perv thing because the fan base has a lot of kids. People can forgive a lot, probably more than they should.
I agree. Folks love a good redemption story and so does the NFL. I'm sure Easterby will be hugely encouraging of forgiveness and second chances too, definitely fitting with the Christian philosophy.

This could yet work out in the Texans favor, if they stand by him during this crisis.

A down year to tank for 1.1, see out Watson's suspension, reload draft picks get rid of the terrible contracts then let the Phoenix rise from the ashes. I can see them hoisting aloft the 2024 Lombardi already.

Watson needs to go through his Rolodex err Instagram and give every masseuse he has contacted 5k and get them to sign a NDA.

I could see Carolina being willing to take on DW and his redemption story. He's pretty beloved in the Carolinas and I think many fans there would be forgiving.
Bring the Clemson prodigal son home and give him a second chance...

& I don’t know what Watson can do now, Pandora’s box has been opened.

Even if he settles now, with the 22 current cases, what’s to stop another 22 from popping up later represented by any lawyer, not just Buzbee

I think the nfl will suspend him.
But it is more than coincidence that when perceptions started to tilt a little back for Watson Buzbee suddenly announces another 13 women coming forth.
A little too coincidental for mine.

I've made one point -- how the woman portrays herself on instagram SHOULD factor (NOT determine) into whether her version should be believed. A little sad if this is even remotely debatable.

Trading him now is like selling your stocks in a market slump. You're always better off leaving it in and selling at a peak. I simply can't see anyone offering his true (football) value today.

EVEN IF all of these women were massage prostitutes, Watson still has federal, state, and local criminal charges for soliciting prostitutes and transporting them across state lines. This could also be why Rusty was hired to defend him.

The following pertains to the woman that he allegedly flew in from ATL:

Mann Act (federal law):

In its original form the act made it a felony to engage in interstate or foreign commerce transport of "any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose". Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution, immorality, and human trafficking, particularly where trafficking was for the purposes of prostitution. It was one of several acts of protective legislation aimed at moral reform during the Progressive Era. In practice, its ambiguous language about "immorality" resulted in it being used to criminalize even consensual sexual behavior between adults. It was amended by Congress in 1978 and again in 1986 to limit its application to transport for the purpose of prostitution or other illegal sexual acts.

It is a rarely used law though. The most notable use for it recently was against Keith Raniere, Alison Mack, and other top members of NXIVM.

How it started:

How it’s going:

According to Buzbee, at least one of these women were referred to Watson by a Texans trainer. Another by his personal (not team) QB coach

WARNING: Details in this story are graphic
The third one alleges that the Texans quarterback forced a massage therapist to perform oral sex on him during a session late last year.

It says that Watson scheduled a massage through an app for December 28, 2020 at a Houston office building,

The suit alleges that Watson got aggressive during the massage and was “forcefully telling her to move his hand down to his pubic area.” It goes on to say that he forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The massage therapist says she blacked out.

According to the lawsuit, she now has anxiety and depression and has trouble sleeping........................

..................The women, thus far, have been referred to Jane Doe in the court documents and are all licensed massage therapists. The first lawsuit came from a woman who said the alleged assault happened in her home last March. The second lawsuit claims last August, Watson paid to have a woman fly from Atlanta to give him a massage at a hotel.

He is said to have made inappropriate demands of a sexual nature.

Buzbee said these lawsuits are not about money.

In an Instagram post, Buzbee said every woman who has filed thus far has only pleaded the minimum amount to invoke the court's jurisdiction.

Mr. Mulugheta might be interested to hear that, according to federal statistics, only between 2% and 8% percent of all sexual assault reports turn out to be false. The research only deals with reported cases but let’s look at that too. Fewer than three in ten victims report.

So, more than 70-percent of sexual assault victims never report to police. And, of those who do report, between 2% and 8% make false reports. Those are the numbers.

Want to hear another stat of note? Of the cases that get reported and prosecuted, roughly one percent end up with a felony conviction. One percent. And we wonder why more victims don’t report.

I'm not sure why there is any comparison going on between Tiger and DW. One has civil (and possible criminal) charges coming and the other cheated on his wife over a long period time with over a dozen consensual and willing women but was facing ZERO charges of any kind. Apples and oranges. DW isn't getting up in front of ANY mics or social media with charges pending.

I don't recall all of the details, but weren't some of Tiger's consensual arrangements of the professional variety?

See right there you are showing that you're not understanding what is going on. It doesn't matter if any of these women give happy endings to most clients or not. It doesn't even matter if they are hookers or not. The argument and case is that he wanted things they were uncomfortable with and they said no.
This is silly, I think. If the women routinely traffic in your "happy endings" then Watson walks. They can SAY they said "No," but there's no way to prove it and their prior behavior (if they traffic in happy endings) suggests otherwise. Preponderance.

Just spitballing here. As someone else said, as the numbers go up ALL of the cases get weaker and more suspicious.

No you just want it to get weaker, in the real world as the numbers go up it creates a pattern of behavior which looks really bad.

Also why is it so damn hard for so many to understand that “prior behavior” means absolutely nothing and if Watson’s lawyer tries to attack the accuser’s character in that way he is going to get destroyed. Ask yourselves this if calling their character into question was such a great idea why hasn’t Hardin done it yet?

This is all OB’s fault with his damn loyalty to Mike Devlin. Watson wouldn’t need all of these massages if he wasn’t getting sacked 60 times a season.
I blame the Texans. Their obsession with baby mommas made Watson paranoid to the point he brought his own towel to these "massage" sessions.
No wonder that guy was so slippery, loose and limber when escaping pass rushers. Talk about Stretch Armstrong.

Well I think it does. I agree wholeheartedly that if "any" woman says stop or no at "any" time, it's game over. But I also think there's not a jury in the world that wouldn't think it's worse to proposition the choir director at church than some hooker at a strip club. I think Busbees strongest clients are the ladies whose websites look like professional massage therapist and I think Hardin will use any images otherwise to try and defend Watson. It's my opinion that the type of masseuse they are, could play directly into who Busbee signs up and who he doesn't, even though right now it looks like he's taking all comers. Now, Watson has a big problem even if all of the plaintiffs are of the unscrupulous type I get that. But if even one is a serious massage therapist I think Watson's problems are worse. At some point, someone will have to put a number on it and I just think someone who does it every day but didn't want to do it that day is not damaged as much as someone who has never done it. So my point isn't that one is wrong and one is right, they are both wrong. I just think there is a gray area when it comes to damages depending on the plaintif.

It's impossible for us non-lawyers to know the finer points of the law, but video/audio taping someone without their consent is illegal in Texas, at least under some circumstances. Unless such recordings are legal in this specific case and exist, I don't seeing this moving into criminal court. As pointed out, it's a case of she said, he said. The big question: What proof is there she said "no"; and what proof is there that he "forced her"? Even if one believes DW is a scumbag, what can be proven?
You are video taped without your permission almost every time you walk into a business. My guess is, that there must be a presumption of privacy that would make taping or recording a person illegal. One would think that during a massage there would be a presumption of privacy but I don't know. As far as proof for who said what, I think eye witnesses are usually important evidence. I've heard the judge instruct me as a juror that 1 witnesses testimony could be considered more relevant than 10 others, but I don't know why Watson would be considered more credible than so many others. Hardin would have to shoot down every one and that's going to be tough.

Buzbee might end up making a commercial like the asbestos compensation ad.
You mean like this one-
"If you've been groped, molested, assaulted, touched, spoken to inappropriately or looked at... too long, by Deshaun Watson or any other member of the Houston Texans call me now, Tony Frizbee "THE TEXAS SCAMMER!!!" Don't wait too long his value is dropping by the minute. Call 1 800 LOWBLOW... I'm waiting!!!

Why Watson you have a bad one young bloods View attachment 8371

Jesus Christ! :shocked

.. So is it safe to assume she's back/soon to be back on the market now?

Goes back to Elizabeth Hurley/Hugh Grant fiasco and my sloppy fast food cheeseburger theory..

You can have Filet Mignon sitting hot and ready at home, but some men can't resist the damn sloppy cheeseburger.

Are you saying there's something wrong with cheeseburgers?
