NFL Random Thought of the Day

I wonder if Haskins is aware of how cheap he'll be to sign next season? He'll definitely be on a very reasonable prove-it contract next season......just to show he can carry a clipboard and spot start when needed. His chance of starting in the future may have passed. With this thought, I'd sign Haskins on the cheap and let him be Watson's backup in 2021.

I'm sure you guys already know, but I'm going to admit I was wrong, way wrong about the state of the AFC. I really thought 9 wins was going to get a team into the play-offs, especially considering there's an extra spot this year. But the AFC ain't playing around this year. 10 win minimum.

Bare minimum a 10 game winner will be out. There could be an 11 game winner on the outside looking in.

That's crazy considering the extra playoff spot. Not often 10 wins isn't enough in the normal playoff format.

I'm hearing talking heads applaud the Raiders, Gruden/Mayock for quickly turning the Raiders around.

Have they? Right now, aren't they pretty much in the same place they were before Gruden/Mayock?

I guess its kinda subjective ..... they have made some improvement , particularly offensively going from 25th in scoring offense last year to 11th this year but the defense went south.

They lost a couple heartbreakers and still have a chance to finish .500.

I hate that we're out of the playoff race & this game really has no meaning for us since we don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick.

But I sure do appreciate our situation as opposed to being a fan of a team that has to beat a bad team just to have a chance to make the playoffs... & be losing by two scores middle of the 3rd qtr

Kyler Murray has hobbled off in the Cards Rams game. Coming back now but still walking funny (always seems to walk funny to me anyway)

Care to explain? A Dallas player came out with the ball. One ref said otherwise while another ref disagreed with him. There was no way to prove it either way so the call 'stands'. 99% of the time the team coming out of the pile with the ball gets possession. The Cowboys can suck it but I thought it was a terrible call.

Clear shot of Giants guy with ball and down on the field and clear control. Play should have been dead

During those scrums you don’t see that often but that shot of clear control allowed NY to keep the ball. Right call

THE 49ers are expected to tap linebackers coach DeMeco Ryans as their replacement for defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. One future Hall of Famer that played with Ryans is a fan of that idea.

Ryans only started coaching in 2017 and played in the NFL as recently as 2015. He was a Defensive Rookie of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowler for the Texans in six seasons with the club from 2006-11. Defensive end JJ Watt was Ryans’s teammate for one season in 2011 – Watt’s rookie year and Ryans’s final season with the club.

OK that's pretty cool because the best down lineman to ever play for the Texans just endorsed the best LB the Texans ever had as the future DC of the 49ers now that Robert Saleh
has left as San Frans DC to be the Jets new HC.

We'll see but I think this is going to end the same way as Nick Saban in Miami.
Nick Saban left Miami because the owner overrode Saban on signing Drew Brees and forced him to sign Dante Culpeper instead. Nick left not long after. I have heard Saban say on a couple of occasions if he could've signed Brees he might still be in Miami. Unlike Nick and Miami, Shad has given Urban full and complete control. Spurrier left Washington, walked away with $10 of millions left on the table because he couldn't deal with Snyder interfering any longer. This is not the college coaches failure, this is the owners failure.
