Backup Quarterback

As of the this posting, we have only 1 QB on the roster, DW4. Based on the injury history of Watson and our porous OL, the backup QB is extremely important as they will likely see considerable action. There is one FA QB I would like to see us consider behind Watson - Tyrod Taylor. His skill set is very similar to Watson and he has proven success. I wouldn't be too disappointed to see Fitzpatrick again either.

It's interesting that 40% of the FA QB's have been on the Texans roster at some time.

I can't remember if I actually read this or heard it on the radio, but rumor has it the Texans are waiting for Jax very own Blake Bortles to be released and want to pick him up to be a backup to Watson.

Nooooooooo, give that money to Taylor before handing it to Bortles. They should be commanding about the same type of money.....just a guess.

I've mentioned Bortles before. As a backup, I'm actually A-OK with that. I wanted Taylor and out of remaining FA, I'd kick the tires on Fitzmagic and RGIII. But if Bortles is on the market, ya I'd be interested.

Dude has a good arm, lots of mobility, and is both experienced and still young with at least some more room for growth. Ya I get it - he has his major issues and will never be a good starter - but it's a BACKUP you're looking for. By design, he's not going to be a starter level talent.

Maybe the Texans certified QB Whisperer or Guru could help him become a Pro Bowl QB.

Texans spending $$$$ in FA?

I guess if a player wants to come here on the cheap it could happen.
Dang SteelB are we gonna have to hold your hand again for an entire football season beginning in the first few days of free agency ?

I don't have any confidence in Bortles - he turns the ball over and fumbles. I would prefer Fitzpatrick over Bortles. But I wouldn't be surprised if we sign Bortles.

You have confidence in Fitzpatrick?

A big fat NO on Ryan Fitzpatrick.. For one reason or another he always ends up starting for the team that signs him.

Won't really matter who the backup QB is. If he doesn't have the escapability Watson has, this o-line will get him killed. Therefore we'll be pulling QBs out of deer stands if anything long term happens to DW4.
