2019 Texans free agency

Disappointing free agency so far for shore: not a single addition for the OLine and we've lost half of our starting D-backfield.
First, I am in no way an apologist for the organization. They have a full compliment of draft picks and a hefty amount of cap space. But losing Jackson and Mathieu at those price points is completely understandable. This defense needs to get faster, and those guys weren't getting any faster. I don't know what the end game will be. But, I'm sure someone will take the Texans $$$ and they will find DBs with more speed than those currently on the roster.

If I'm wrong, I'll bring the tiki torches to the march on NRG.

Trying to hold off and see what happens since it’s only been day 1 . But what I’m not going to do is sit here and act like GOING AFTER ******* TASHAUN GIPSON is being selectively aggressive.

Have I not been consistent?

The Texans are a cheapass org and today is just another day in the life of a Texans fan.

btw, Fred suck it and I mean like a cheap hooker needing a fix.
Since you asked, you have been consistently hateful, stupid, delusional, and well, inconsistent.

You are BOB and Gaine's biggest fan. Now you want everyone fired because they didn't contact Trent Brown with a $70 million before it was legal to contact him. You used to say protecting Watson was important (although you did celebrate his injury in 2017) now you want his neck broken. You say the league is "fixed" and that only a fool would bet on the NFL. WTF? You KNEW that the NFC Championship game was fixed, the Rams were going to be gived the win - but you didn't bet on them? That is foolish (and inconsistent). You have been prattling on about #Changes On Kirby now you are saying same old same old.

BTW, the Texans have considered the impact on the salary cap of signing or not signing a player. They have never considered the impact on the McNair's bottom line so to call them "cheapass bastards" is hateful, stupid, and delusional. Although that is the one area where you are consistent.

Kareem Jackson was gone from a football standpoint. the Texans need a different type of corner than he is and unless he was playing safety fulltime there was not a need for him. Honey Badger bet on himself last year with a one year contract and won a market overpay. good for him.

Safe to say that Brian Gaine views cap space like Bill OBrien views timeouts! Losing KJax will hurt the team .. he was the only guy on defense that would set the tone with huge hits. Mathieu will be easier to move on from since he was basically a one year MERC. Nothing very inspiring after day 1 hopefully it gets better.

I feel like I'm on an island here in that I'm old enough and have been following the Texans long enough to remember more face-palms over the years in regards to KJax than cheers for outstanding play. I don't understand why this was a surprise to anyone, let alone a disappointment - he said it himself on IG that there was 99% chance he wasn't coming back and obviously he wasn't joking. To be a good franchise you have to be willing to let some of your older/viable players go (re: Patriots). To me, KJax was asking for it and made the decision simple for Gaine. Now he wants to bash the FO for supposedly not talking to him or discussing options?? Don't let the door hit you bud.

I don't mind the Texans sitting out the original feeding frenzy of FA. The Foles, Collins, Brown, Alexander contracts are bananas.

What does bother me is guys like Kelechi Osmele and DeSean Jackson getting acquired by teams for late round picks. Those are the kind of moves the Texans should be making.

I still think there is more to that deal than what is being told. Raiders are giving up a solid player AND a 6th just to get a 5th when they already have lots of draft picks? No something seems off about that and if they really were willing to take so little for him then forget just the Texans how did no other team hear about it? Jets aren't known for their genius front office so how did they get ahead of everyone else on that? I think its part of a larger deal and it was something only offered to the Jets for whatever reason.

This is total BS when it comes to posters here.

Speaking for myself, I could care less about being right. I care ( Obviously more than the Texans org does) about putting the best product on the field possible.

These are your own words.

In a way I want to see Watson get his neck broken to prove a point.

You wanted them to sign Brown to help protect Watson. So did I. But I’m not hoping anyone gets hurt just to prove a point.

Its kind of telling in a way that two of Bill OBriens college kids at Penn St - Jesse James and Adrian Amos didnt even think about coming here when those two positions were in definite need.
It's also telling that the Texans have never drafted a Penn State player since O'Brien became head coach. Maybe he's just not pounding the table for them? Maybe he's saying, no thanks?

cool way to spin it, maybe his 'players' dont want anything more to do with him. I mean its not like TE or S are a need on this team or anything.

Lol if our QB guru and offensive genius really goes and pays big money for Bell. RB is the most overrated position in the modern, pass-friendly NFL. You can just find someone cheap or plug in a rookie (as Foreman showed until he got hurt).

What we know is Amos and James signed contracts with teams not named the Texans...that's it.

Who would want to play for O’Brian? Imagine extending DeShaun Watson, keep tagging Clowney until he holds out, Watt retires..... inability to keep own first round picks there is something not right, Kevin Johnson cut, for nothing but salary dump (2015 16th overall pick) now Kareem (2010 20th overall pick) both in first week. It’s not like a lot has been Gained, outside of first either.

except when that RB is also basically a slot receiver and one of the best blocking RBs in the game. Im fine with keeping Lamar Miller, but I would only think of moving him to a secondary role for a player like Bell. You're assuming the coaching and philosophy here in Houston is one that is conducive to having rookie players actually thrive and flourish. Only defensive rookies seem to perform well here, I wonder why.

The Texans strategy is now obvious. Gipson was cut by the Jags so signing him doesn't affect potential comp picks they receive by losing Mathieu and Jackson. They're going to re-sign their cheaper depth guys (Blackson) but let their more expensive guys walk and get the picks.

This is the same thing the Patriots do. Difference is they have Belichick and we have O'Brien.

Lol yea I Was about to say, we can't afford to just let people walk and easily replace them. Man im not trying to overreact but its getting to that point.

New Texans S Tashaun Gipson is getting a 3-year deal worth a little more than $22 million, source said. Less than half what Earl Thomas was looking for.

The optimist in me still wants to think BOB can become a great coach. I haven't seen the on-field indicators that I'd like to see but I do like the culture he's brought and I actually think the strategy you've mentioned is the best for sustained success if they hit on their talent selection (which Gaine has shown promise at). Cal seems all in on BOB/Gaine or I don't think they'd feel comfortable being this patient. We just need BOB to learn from mistakes and grow. It's a possibility at least.
