We have played 2 crap teams in Houston, and this is the first time on the road. We did manage to lose to this same crap team at home last year.

The Houston at Texas Tech game will air locally on regular FOX at 3:15 PM. I'll definitely watch it. Eat 'em up, Cougs! If they beat Texas Tech on the road and reach 3-0 they should sniff the top 25, IMO.

Renowned sports statistician Jeff Sagarin has his college football rankings up. He has the Cougars at #41 and the Red Raiders at #57. The winner should get a bump in the rankings, but maybe not into the top 25.

First team to score 50+ points today will win? Both offenses look very capable of scoring 2 or 3 TDs per quarter. Our defense is better than it's looking. Some sloppy tackling on Texas Tech's second Touchdown.

The way Tech's offense can strike fast they're taking superstar DT Ed Oliver out of the game. I've only heard his name mentioned once so far in the game. In terms of a good play he made.

Going to be hard for Ed Oliver to win the Heisman award.
Because of games like today when he can be taken out of the game.

Oh nice. Houston regains a 21-14 lead late in the 1st quarter!

Let's say the Houston Cougars can run the table this year and win their conference championship. Going 13-0, and that's good enough for a top 8 ranking and they burst the College Football Playoff bubble and make it into that Final 4.

How can high-scoring shootouts like today prepare us for a tough showdown with teams like Alabama and Clemson? At some point our defense has to man up and play much better than this.

As a non Power Five Conference how can we become legit?
I want to see the Houston Cougars become big time one day.

Texas Tech's QB already has like 375 passing yards and 4 TDs. He's on pace for 750+ passing yards and 8 TD passes today. As Texas Tech leads 35-28 at halftime. Our pass defense and pass rush better play a lot better in the second half.

On that last TD pass right before the half.
Agreed, Tech's QB had all day and a huge window to throw.

In fact, rewind the TD pass there. Tech's QB could have walked it in. There were no defenders directly in front of him. Closest guy is 3 yards away (Ed Oliver, who was being blocked).

In the red zone it shouldn't be that easy to score. Less room to operate.

Ed Oliver was stone walled man on man. So discouraging. He didn't even get any penetration on that Touchdown pass... Ed Oliver's play today has been a huge letdown to me.

Our Defensive Coordinator needs to rip apart his playbook. We should just dial up some exotic blitzes. Tech's offense is just shredding apart our base defense right now.

After we tie it 35-35, they score a TD in 2 minutes...
42-35 Texas Tech early in the third. Boy oh boy.

Our defense needs to force some turnovers then.
Just blitz the hell out of them. Try to force the action.
If we get burned on a blitz so be it. We're sucking anyways.
