Isn't it like the 4th year in a row to have NE on the road?

I want the Texans to open with the Colts. Don't care where. Just want them when Luck is still rusty and the Texans defense is still healthy. I also would like the Eagles early. Rather go against Foles than Wentz.

Considering they haven't played the Colts in Indy before December since 2010, I wouldn't mind getting that road trip out of the way in the first couple of weeks or so.

Yeah, but I thought the schedule, not the list of opponents (which has been posted a few times already ).

I didn't see the schedule posted on here JB. OP posted the home and away games. I just posted the order in which the games will be played.

If the team is coached well and we stay healthy, I don't see any reason we can't go 15-1.

Given those limitations and inevitabilities, we'll go 8-8.

Guess we don't have to wait too long to see how much of a ***** Bill O'Brien is this year.

Hopefully he's learned to trust Deshaun Watson to seal the game.

Too bad Texans/Cowboys is on during the baseball playoffs. Whatever, decent schedule setup I guess. Same as usual whatever. Not many primetime games which is good.

Gonna be a great tailgate. Cant wait
Yeah I hear ya, if it were at noon I could catch a buzz and enjoy the game. SNF means stay sober and drive home to Austin area and head to work after a shower.

Then there is the whole we tend to suck at primetime. Yeah I was there years ago when when packers and Rodgers came to town and beat the hell out the Texans on I think MNF. That was a long and sober drive back lol

Haha i was there too. It was a massacre. I only had to drive to Katy though. I always take off the Monday following Sunday night games to avoid that miserable midnight regret feeling

Yeah gonna see if I can make arrangements.

Yeah worse case I'll just have to be sober. Haven't done that since packer game lol.

On a personal level, as a season ticket holder, not a big fan of the night games. Especially Thursday and Monday.

On a football level, tough start with 3 of 4 on the road, including the Pats opener.

3 division road games in the 1st 7 weeks, then closing it out with the Superb Owl champs on the road in late December and then J-ville.

Pretty challenging schedule based on just that.

Otherwise, I see a lot of winnable games there. Watson and the "new" offense and RAC back in charge of a healthy D, have the potential for good things.

Houston Texans have tough start on road vs. Patriots, Titans

The NFL has released its 2018 regular-season schedule. Here's a look at what's in store for the Houston Texans.

Breakdown: The Texans must take care of business in the middle of the 2018 regular season, because four of their six toughest games start and end the season. They start the campaign on the road against the Patriots and Titans and finish it with a visit to the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles before a home game against the defending AFC South champion Jaguars. Houston will have a chance to help itself in the division early, as the Texans finish their road AFC South schedule by Week 7 when they travel to Jacksonville.

Home cooking: The Texans have the easiest home strength of schedule (combined .391 winning percentage in 2017) this season, with home games against the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants, who combined to win seven games last season. Houston’s schedule does balance out on the road, however, with games against the Patriots, Eagles and Jaguars, so it’s important the Texans take advantage of the easier home slate, especially because they will finish with four of their last six games at NRG Stadium.

Texans could go streaking: While the Texans have a tough schedule to begin and end the season, they have an easier stretch in the middle, which could help them gain ground in the AFC South. Houston has a chance to get hot, with games against the Dolphins (home), Broncos (road), Redskins (road), Titans (home), Browns (home), Colts (home) and Jets (road) in Weeks 8 through 14. If the Texans want to go from fourth place in the AFC South to being a playoff contender, this is where they’ll need to handle their business.

Strength of schedule: 32nd, .453

Vandermeer's Views: Thoughts on the 2018 schedule

Usually when the schedule comes out I have more complaints than when I’m preparing my tax return. But this year I find myself with the fewest objections ever.

Yes, the Texans open with three of four on the road. But one of them is Indy in week four. That means for the first time in nine years the Texans play the initial game of the season series up there. Hallelujah!

Also, I love opening at New England. There’s probably no good time to play there but I’d rather see them in the opener with no Belichick look-see at the new wrinkles in the Watson offense. Plus you want to play the Patriots early. In eight of their 15 seasons since winning their first Super Bowl they took a loss in either week one or two. That’s hardly an earth-shattering metric but I’ll take it!

It’s notable that there are no prime time games on the road. That means no red-eye flights home for the players. I’ve been begging for the Thursday night game to be at NRG Stadium and I got it with the Dolphins visiting on October 25. This means the team gets to spend a short-week Wednesday in the facility prepping, instead of traveling.

Last season the NFL sent the Texans on the road for their final three division games, all in December. This year, we’re back to having Jacksonville here for the finale. And it could be big! In fact, the division slate starts with three games on the road then the return engagements here in Houston.

The event of the season is likely the Cowboys visit on October 7 for Sunday Night Football. It’s only the third ever visit for Dallas and fifth game overall against them. And it’s the first prime time date with the Cowboys since opening night of franchise history.

Since we’re on the subject of the NFC East, there’s that little matter of playing the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Texans visit Philly on December 23, one of four possible inclement weather games on the schedule. The trip to Philadelphia is a week after a trek to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to play the Jets. Going to the Northeast back to back isn’t preferable but it could be worse as the Jets game is on a Saturday.

My least favorite trip is Washington for personal-professional reasons. The Redskins have the worst visiting radio booth in the league. It’s low and in the corner and the game feels like rumor once the teams cross midfield. But let’s not shed any tears for me. I’m the luckiest man on earth to get to do what I do.

All Prime Time games at home. The Thursday night game with the Fish is kind of blah though. I'm glad the dam Colts get to come to Houston at the end of the year, finally. Three home games in a row is tough for me to make em all. Long drive, so I'll pick one.
No TV conflicts with the team from Arlington. This is good for me because down here they will show the North Texas team.

The Texans schedule reveal was from the hit kid's game "Backyard Football"

I played that and Backyard Baseball growing up so that was hilarious to see. Twitter seemed to enjoy it, also.

Easiest schedule in the league. No excuses.
No sarcasm emoticon?

Shockingly, it's an accurate assessment....based on last year.
