Would you do this trade?

The Saints just sent zack Strief the IR. Adrian Peterson isn't happy with his role in New Orleans. I would really look into this. Peterson still has a lot in the tank. He could make a real difference on this team. Would you trade D Brown for AP????

I would!!!

Peterson wants to be a franchise back, which IMO he no longer has the ability to be. He'd be sharing a backfield here too, with Lamar Miller as the primary pass catching back. Don't think he'd be any happier here than in NOLA.

They have Ryan ramcyzck ready to step in I think.

I think this is in the realm of not going to happen, but just for shits and giggles I’d be ok with that trade if we also included Lamar Miller and then got back some OL and/or DB depth.

They have some decent young players at those positions that could be better than what we have now.

Ramcyzk has looked horrible. They have no one on that team that is even close talent wise and NFL ready as Brown. This could be Bree's last year.

Yeah well, Saints fans and more importantly their coaches seem pleased with him so far.

What has AP done to show anyone that he has "a lot left in the tank"? I'd say AP has shown quite the opposite.

Yep. And he's a little bitch on the sideline. O'Brien would eat his lunch for the crap he pulled on Sean Payton a couple of weeks ago. Dude got into a pissing match with Tom Brady on the sideline, so I doubt he'd take any crap from an over-the-hill prima donna RB.

I would consider trading Miller for AP and a 2018 mid round draft pick. Foreman, Blue and AP could do pretty well and the Texans definitely need the 2018 draft pick. It's not like Miller is all that and a bag of chips.

I understand your logic, but I do not think AP is the team player that O'Brien and Smith like for their team. Dude is quoted saying "I didn’t sign up for nine snaps". But, the truth is he did when he signed with a pass-happy offense that has multiple tailback options.

Plus, we all know McNair does not perceive him as "Texans worthy" after that child abuse case.

Full disclosure: I admit bias. I just don't like the guy.

The trade idea wasn't smart

The fact that a poster thinks McNair will allow a trade for a child abuser is well, what I said upthread. (Stupid)

I'm much more interested in the draft pick than AP.

Ah, no.
Our running game is not a problem.

I'm convinced Brown can't play any more. I'm even more certain he'll never play for Houston. Trade him, not for washed up Peterson, but for somebody we can develop, like Ramczyk.

3 trades in which I would explore the possibilities:

1. OT. Brown- Seahawks might have some serious interest. I've got some serious interest in Pocic which could make this a player for player deal but I wouldn't hesitate in asking for an additional late round pick be included. Getting Pocic could set the interior of the Texans OL (Mancz, Martin and Pocic) for years to come. The beauty of this group, all 3 play Center as well as OG. With OT's quickly becoming a hot commodity b/c of injuries, advantage would go to the Texans in moving a veteran like DB.

2. RB. Miller- RB's are also going down and one team who is probably hoping for a potential deal is Green Bay. Their best RB is a converted WR who was recently injured. I could see Miller really appealing to the Packers based on the way their RB's are used. Again, this is a potential deal that could favor the Texans based on the Packers situation and Miller's production as a RB and receiver. Could the Texans ask and receive a RD3 from GB?

3. QB. Savage- Savage will be on the move next season as his time in a Texans uniform has expired. I don't see Savage willingly accepting the QB2 spot with no opportunity to compete. If the Titans didn't sign Weeden, then the Texans should. Sign him to a 2-3 season backup contract and get Savage on the market before the deadline. 2 teams that come to mind immediately on the side of potential interest; Titans and Raiders.**Please include the Ravens to this list.** It's a shame what happened to Carr and hopefully management has addressed this with the team. I think it would only take reminding these guys that they could soon find themselves enjoying Kaepernick's company on a permanent basis if they pull another stunt like last week. If Keenum commanded a RD6...could Savage possibly command a RD better?

Having an extra RD3 (3 Total) might give the team enough ammunition to move into RD2 for a solid OT option. An above average TE should be available in RD3 thru RD5 and RS has the picks to find an answer. Quality depth should be the focus throughout the 2018 NFL Draft.

Ordinarily i'd be in favor of trading brown for draft picks (perhaps a 3 or a 4 AND 6.) However, im not convinced we wont "brock it up" by trading brown and our own picks to get rid of him. Im still bitter over that trade i guess.

Not just no, but hell no. Unlike the OP, I don't feel he has much left in the tank at all. I'd be shocked if he is playing anywhere at all next year. I'd be a lot less shocked, if he was released by the Saints during the season. If you want him, just wait for him to be released, but my feeling? He's done.

I also feel he's too much like Foreman style wise. Lastly, beyond the fact that I don't like the guy and think he is a child abuser, he is a me first non-team guy. Why we would trade a good LT for a guy like AP makes about zero sense to me.

If we trade DB, we need to think young as in either a draft choice or younger prospect with good upside. Why would you trade a good LT for a washed up has been with a bad attitude?

I would never trade for AP. If we do trade DB, it will be for either a young, promising DB or a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

Foreman and Miller should be splitting carries evenly. Adrian is done, he can't see the lanes anymore. It's like watching a guy take a running head start into a wall. Lateral movement gone. Can't pass block. Can't catch.

HOF back though.

While we're at it, we should get a first from the Steelers for Sua'filo.

Yeah, that's what your post sounds like to me.

What a stupid thread.

Well at least it wasn't the same Old regurgitated stupid conspiracy theorie bullshit hate everything Texans do because I'm so much smarter than them post that you spew with 99.9% of the time.

Just because I haven't like how the Texans FO has been run for the past 15 yrs doesn't mean I'm smarter than anybody. In fact a team that can re-sign a broken Schaub and a roided up Cushing and still make billions seems pretty smart to me.

I read something somewhere that Brown to the Giants in a trade would be doable. They need a Tackle in a big way. The Texans need another draft pick next year.

Instead of trades, Texans should focus on resigning ascending talent, like Bouye (Clowney is next) developed in their own system, instead of letting them make it to the open market :rake:
If you think Dwayne Brown is an ascending talent you should stop stepping on those rakes.

I would like to update an earlier thought. I think the Texans could get a favorable offer from Green Bay for both, Brown and Miller since they are in dire need of both an OT and RB in order to stay competitive. What could or should they expect in return?

We have 3 TEs with 2 on 1st and 2nd year deal. Also would not trade three 3rds for a second for online..now..maybe once draft has shaken out and we know who is there. I would trade Brown for Browns own second round. Don't want Weeden on field game day. Can't see Savage remaining with team we trade with. He has to want courtship in free agency.

It would be out of character for the Packers to do something like that... moreso during the season.

If the Giants keep losing wouldn't tanking be wiser for them? Why would they trade away draft picks for Duane Brown or any other player? They may end up with a top three pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. They'd even be wise to explore that rumored Eli Manning trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Honestly, looking at the Giants depth chart on the offensive line, and now wide receiver, they look like an expansion team. I don't think they'll play any better than 4-12 this year. And likely 3-13 or 2-14.

The latest 2018 NFL mock draft that I've seen (updated yesterday) has the Cleveland Browns drafting QB Sam Darnold out of USC with the 1st pick. They have the New York Giants with the 2nd overall pick drafting QB Josh Rosen from UCLA.

And the Texans, hmm, I don't see us picking in the 1st or 2nd round. I'd have to go to the extended third-round mocks before I see a selection! I do see the Cleveland Browns picking multiple times in round one and round two, with all of our picks in their possession. At least our original picks won't go to waste. Well, it's the Browns so they'll probably draft a couple of busts with those selections.

If I'm the Browns, I might be watching Rudolph (Ok State) who could wind up at the top of the QB heap by the time the draft kicks off. Rosen would be the 2nd option and Darnold 3rd.

First, can he block?
Second, what makes you think he'd be a fit here?
Honest questions. I don't know the answer to either.
First, NO. Graham isn't much of a blocking TE.
Secondly, I think he would be an excellent fit in this offense.
I'm not sure if I'd make the trade though. The Texans need Brown at LT much more than a TE, even with Fido on IR.

A player on the field is better than one that is holding out, though.
