It's not just about race, it's about politics and political correctness. The NFL has become politicized with a liberal bias. Saw a headline this morning that future Super Bowls in Texas are threatened because of that bathroom bill.

Sure if they want to. I doubt they signed him because he's black though.

I thought they might IR stash him last season to keep him. Check out some of his YouTube videos.

He can actually kick field goals too.

Not to politicize this thread ..... but have you ever noticed how its the people who complain most about race that's calling everyone else racists , separating everyone into their nice little demographic groups while the rest of us ignore race for the most part ..... race is just not on my list of give a damns.

It's kind of funny, I was talking to a Gator fan friend about the Florida-Florida State game the week of the game. I was telling him "y'all got a good punter, that could actually be a big deal considering how good your defense is." And he just laughed and took it as an insult, but I was totally serious.

Good punters can change games, as much as bad punters. I'd like to see us excel in special teams for the first time, so I hope this guy can show out at camp.

Yeah, I guess next week we'll find out about the first black water boy on the Lions or something.

Why is this always some sort of news? Why can't this guy just be an individual that got a job?

Last couple of years the guy booting the ball hasn't been the problem. Actually, he's had to change his game so as not to outkick the coverage. Every time the return man has time to catch the ball, locate the first man down & make him miss, that's our coverage team not getting down field fast enough.

No doubt there is an "elite" group of return men. Guys who don't need five or six yards to cleanly field the ball & locate that first guy, but we give up return yards to just about everybody.

I don't know that speed is the answer. We seem to have trouble getting off the line & around blockers.

On the flip side, when we're returning punts, we can't seem to block anyone & our guy is having to field the ball & locate the first man within three yards and that's difficult for anyone to do.

Agreed. See no purpose in this thread. A young punter, no matter the color, should be thrilled to learn and compete with a guy like Lechler. Go to camp. Learn the most you can from the best punter ever ,and get your shot here when he retires.

No one is dancing around anything but you. Nowhere in the article you posted does it mention anything about race, skin color or anything of that nature, yet you're the one who put it in the title of the thread.

They wont install new restrooms , they'll just use the "unisex" ones meant for parents with opposite sex or small children or the disabled .... and make the lines longer than they already are.

Sorry, I was reading other parts of the paper which is full of examples of real racial issues and tensions.

Forgive me for thinking that Reggie Roby and Marquette King did enough where the idea of a black punter, while unique was non-news worthy and certainly not fodder for humor.

I don't recall Marquette King .... But Roby was a hell of a punter.
