NFL Random Thought of the Day

Playing with espn's playoff prediction machine it looks like Tampa Bay is likely to find Ishmael 11-5 if they can beat Dallas today. They would finish the season ato New Orleans then Carolina at home. They would be the 3rd seed into the NFC.

Has he made bail?

I wonder if Goddell will let him play.

Probably depends on if Floyd has had any prior convictions while in the NFL. Of course God'ell does what he wants. See the different handling of the Minn/Pats/Steelers deflategates.

He also had problems with taking in Arizona's playbook..............the Pats' playbook will be much more challenging, especially if he is drinking at nights while he's "studying."

This is Floyd's fourth alcohol-related incident going back to his time in college. The first two were swept under the rug. This is his second DUI. And Arizona didn't cut him because of the DUI. They cut him because he tried to hide from it and make excuses instead of just owning up to it. He doesn't get it. At this point it's safe to say that he never will.

He's only caught 53% of his targets in his career. His median stat-line for his career is 47/841/5.

Not worth the headache. If he was a #1 caliber WR then I get why somebody would take on the risk. But he's not. There are literally dozens of guys without his off-field troubles that can give you the same production on the field.

Sucks to be the Chargers kicker. He had two chances in the last four minutes to tie the game against the (formerly) 0-14 Browns. The first one was blocked; the second one (with about a minute to play) was wide right from 45 yards.

Derek Carr is down w a leg injury as well. Maybe we should start Brock and save Savage for next weeks game?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes. Also think going to get Herschel Walker was a bad move for the Vikings.

Why in the heck did Norv Turner leave? that's what I want to know. whatever differences they were having, this season may have turned out very different for them.

Sam Bradford ain't what's wrong with that team.

In other NFL news from the internet:

Cleveland Browns Promoting Commemorative Apparel

After they beat the Chargers with a last-second missed field goal by San Diego, the Browns took no more than minutes to begin selling championship-like merchandise to celebrate their first win in 377 days.

You are correct that they could have missed the playoffs without Bradford. So the question is, was it worth it to mortgage their future to get 8 wins and miss the playoffs, instead of getting 5 or 6 wins and still having their draft picks? I still say no.

Bradford may not be their "problem" but he was never going to be the solution that pushed them to the next level.

They did what they thought was right at the time. Agree???

If you could just bottle up what Garoppolo has shown over 93 NFL passes and assume he’d keep doing that in a different environment for the next 10 years, you’d be thrilled to trade just a first and fourth for him. But we know that’s not guaranteed. Brock Osweiler had seven promising starts with the Denver Broncos last season, he was a former second-round pick and the Houston Texans gambled a big contract on him. That didn’t work out.
No matter how good Garoppolo has looked in limited action, you’d be trading a lot for a player who will be making his third career start on opening day next season.

And unlike a potential Garoppolo trade, the Texans didn’t even have to give up any draft picks to get Osweiler.

lissen up Texans fans... ya just don't know, ya never know

Except Jimmy G has a much quicker release and is much more accurate than Os ever has been. Kubiak dumbed down his offense for Os. BB not so much.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but how many of you all saw the "hit" the Cowboys punter put on the Lions returner Monday night?? I've seen it twice, why wasn't he flagged? I know about the rules of the "running back" and all that, but it looked like he went head first. No intention of trying to tackle him "normal". I don't know, maybe I just don't like the Cowboys, but that looked bush league to me.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/i...he-could-make-some-sad-history-153939401.html

One is that Reggie Bush — once one of the biggest stars in college football, the former No. 2 overall pick in the draft and twice a 1,000-yard rusher — is having a historically bad season by running back standards.

Hat tip to ESPN.com’s Jeff Duncan on this one. Bush currently sits at minus-3 rush yards heading into the season finale at the New York Jets and could become the first back since 1955 (per Pro Football Reference) to have 10 or more carries in the season and finish with negative yards.

I am sure that the bills will make sure that he gets 4 yards, but if they dont...

It's the small things in life that get appreciated the most lol

Multiple reports are coming out the 49ers will be firing Chip Kelly after only 1 year..........along with their GM.........definitely looks like a house cleaning.

Aren't O'Brien and Kelly buddies? Maybe Chip will show up in H-town as OC?

ESPN just said Kubiak may step down due to health reasons.

This does not surprise me at all.

Form a previous post at the time Kubiak was diagnosed as having "complex migraines":

Re. Kubiak's "condition," I was asked to explain my concerns and especially as it relates to the relationship between "complex migraines" and TIAs and strokes.

It is a known that complex migraines increase the risk for TIAs and strokes. It is not clear why a migraine TIA or stroke happens , but there are several changes during a migraine, which may be important for explaining this phenomenon. At the beginning of a complex migraine attack, the blood vessels constrict (narrow) leading to reduced blood flow with reduced flow to the brain resulting in a TIA. [This is as opposed to the compensatory vasodilation (widening) of the blood vessels in that occur later changes in the progression of complex migraines.] This process can also cause changes in the blood, which cause clots to form. These, in turn, could cause a blockage in an already narrowed blood vessel leading to a stroke. Dehydration and vomiting during migraine can cause low blood volume, which decreases blood flow to the brain and makes blood clots more likely to form. If you have other risk factors for stroke such as atherosclerosis (build up of irregular plaques in the inner walls of blood vessels), this could happen more easily. Strokes will not necessarily occur during a migraine attack. There are several possible reasons why having the condition may increase the risk of TIA or stroke. These include migraines contributing to damaging the blood vessels through the release of vascular and neurological chemicals, and migraines increasing the risk of fluid building up in the blood vessel wall tissues again constricting the lumen (inside) of the blood vessel and/or leading to the layers of the walls separating (dissection). This can lead to bleeding or clots forming in damaged blood vessels.

Hope I've presented this complex issue in an understandable format.

I have little doubt that Kubiak has continued to experience TIAs despite treatment. With the ongoing high stress of coaching, the probability of blood pressure spikes and subsequently suffering a full-blown stroke lurks right around the corner. He's making the only right decision.
