if you were GM who would you have taken?

As I was watching the draft these are the guys I wanted at our picks. I would not have traded up either time.

(16) Brown, Malcom DT Texas
I'm perfectly happy with Johnson, Kevin CB 6'0" 188 Wake Forest
but I would of taken Brown, Malcom DT Texas

(51) Odighizuwa, Owamagbe DE UCLA

traded- 51, 116 and 195 for 43 and 229
McKinney, Benardrick ILB 6'4" 246 Mississippi St.
Not happy with this pick at all. If he is going to play outside I'm not as upset but if he is starting inside our scouts need to be fired. Still if he is moving outside we could of had Odighizuwa, Owamagbe DE UCLA or Orchard, Nate DE Utah without giving up our 4th round pick to get him. If we wanted an inside LB we should of drafted Perryman @ 43.

@ 43 I would of drafted Perryman, actually I would not have moved up to 43. I would of stayed put and taken Odighizuwa, Owamagbe DE UCLA, @51

(82) Clemmings, T.J. OT 6'5" 309 Pittsburgh
Just too good to pass up this late.
(116) Mason, Shaq C 6'1" 300 Georgia Tech
Really feel this guy would come in and start at C right away. He plays with a nasty mean streak.
(152) Emanuel, Kyle OLB 6'3" 255 North Dakota St
Can play inside or out. Versatile player with great hustle that would contribute imediatly on special teams.
(175) Cody Prewitt, 6’2 1/8, 212 pounds, S, Ole Miss
Like him more than Swag.
(195) Waller, Darren WR 6'6" 238 Georgia Tech
He would be put in the weight room and would be lining up at TE.

(216) La’el Collins, 6’4 5/8, 308 pounds, OT, LSU
Would offer him third round money and see if he bites. If not we lost nothing.
(235) Ekpre-Olomu, Ifo CB 5'9" 192 Oregon
Good slot corner.

So who would you have picked?

I don't think the Texans did bad at all considering how the draft fell , I'd have stuck with Johnson #16 as I believe he was BPA , after the move up to2 :43 I'd have taken Kendricks they need an ILB who can cover and I'd have stayed with Strong @ 3:70 , needed a WR and I was shocked he fell that far.

Rest of the draft .... is too much for me to think about right now.

Knowing what I know now, I'd have taken C Cam Erving 1st. I'd have tried to trade ahead of Indy and taken WR Phillip Dorsett later in round 1. I'd have tried to use Hoyer as trade bait to save early round picks.

But who would have guessed that Indy would want a T.Y. Hilton clone with the needs they have on defense and with their OLine ? I'm still trying to understand why they took Dorsett instead of Malcolm Brown ?

they realize the importance of having a burner wr (or 2) that can get behind defenders, we do not.

Realizing that to propose a trade that didn't actually happen I need to give up a lot more than I get back, I make the following trades:

#16 (1000 pts) and #82 (180 pts) to the Saints for #31 (600 pts) and #44 (460 pts). So I am giving up 1180 to get 1060. Also, #51 (390 pts) to the Jets for #70 (240 pts), #104 (86 pts), and #224 (7 pts). So I am giving up 390 points to get 333.

#31 M. Brown DT
#44 E. Kendricks, LB
#70 J. Strong, WR
#104 T.J. Clemmings, OT
#116 K. Alexander, OLB
#152 J. James, TE
#175 M. Bennett, DT
#195 D. Smith, FS
#211 A. Chickillo, DE
#216 I. Ekpre-Olomu, CB
#224 T. McBride, WR
#235 J. Matias, OG

OK, maybe a little cherry picking going on there...

I don't have any problems with the Texans first 3 picks, or the trade ups to get them, no one knows for certain if those players would have been available at our original draft position. I have issues with the day 3 picks.

1. Kevin Johnson-CB, fills a great need, futures pick.
2. Benardrick McKinney-ILB/OLB, this guy offers great versatility and the size RAC likes.
3. Jalen Strong-WR, great value here.
5b. Tyrus Thompson-OT/OG, I think he can play 3 spots of the O-line, LG, RG, and RT. With some work maybe even LT in the future. We need O-line depth and versatility.
6b. Anthony Chickillo-DE/OLB , OLB depth with great size.
6c. Ben Koyack-TE, good bye Garrett Graham and your silly contract. Saves us money.
7. Gerrod Holliman-FS, quality depth in the secondary and special teams.

What we do understand is how to potentially stop that though, and that is why we drafted a DB with our pick. We also understand that great defensive teams generally go to the playoffs a lot and they are a huge factor in winning SB's, and that is what we're doing right now.

What we don't understand is the importance of a QB for some stinking god damn reason.

Until we have that issue taken care of, it doesn't make any sense to stack up a bunch of WR's that some inadequate QB will underachieve with the way that Fitzpatrick did. When the Cardinals had Boldin and Fitzgerald all of those years, they still stunk because they had no QB, and a poor defense as well. The Chicago Bears had a pretty nice cast of receivers this season as well, but Cutler's problems didn't make any difference at all. The NY Giants have a really nice cast of WR's, but Eli plays like garbage, and it doesn't matter all that much now does it?
