BPA. transitions to OLB better in space cannot knock him off his feet will pursue & create havoc drawing double teams off JJ Watt.

2) Deone Bucannon, SS/FS, 6010 211
1st rd. grade. Rover with both range, size strength & speed. Sets safety tandem with last years 2nd Swearinger.

3) Zach Mettenberger, QB, 6047 224
Developmental signal caller fit for O'Brian offense. Mannerisms/arm strength remind me of Brett Farve. Sit rehab & develop.

4) Chris Borland, ILB, 5114 248
Lacks size but makes up for it with smarts & heart. Typical Badger motor, would be a steal & fill dire longstanding need.

4b) Ross Cockrell, CB, 6000 191
Feisty, aggressive, tough corner who bolsters secondary. Would fill vacant nickle role, also leverage in Jackson option year.

5) DeAndre Coleman, DE/NT, 6046 314
Scheme diverse with experience in 3-4. Plays with good leverage and quickness off snap. Just needs to keep Clowney clean.

I like Savage more at 3-1 but he may not be available.

Very realistic.

The LB crew would be amazing and very intense. Clowney/Borland/Cushing are all great blitzers = great pass rush.

Wall off pass catcher, with good combination of size & speed. Willing blocker, to replace Owen Daniels.

Developmental RT with limited experience for position but looks the part with plus athletic ability. Depth.

6c) Kapri Bibbs, RB, 5093 212
Strong base, always moving forward, moves the chain & TD machine (31).

7) Zach Kerr, 6013 326
Wide bodied power nose prospect from small school who fits Crennel base 3-4. Rotational/depth.

7b) Jeremy Gallon, WR/returner, 5074 185
Favorable quickness and speed to compete in the slot as well return specialist.

Arizona traded down to #27 & took my fave Deone Bucannon. Bridgewater to Seahawks er Vikings traded just ahead of Texans. WTF fire GM RS!

All the talking heads had him mid second or later .... Seems at least one NFL GM agree with our assessment of Bucannon.


I've made the statement in two other threads - They had to know that a QB needy team would jump them for Bridgewater. Not that I wanted him .... but IF he was their guy , they had to see that coming a mile away.

So the most reasonable speculation is TB wasn't their guy.

A more complete grade is in order I would say now given recent ramifications involving JaDeveon Clowney micro-fracture survey.

1) Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, 6052 266 incomplete.

However the likelihood of fulfilling his once in a generational pass rusher tag is over. He may comeback to produce & be a valued cog in Texan defense finishing his contract with Texans but all bets off moving forward. Just very, very sad news for everyone involved. The injury was not a pre-existing condition before the draft, although he may have benefited from knee scope after sophomore season, but caused by a fall into a hole on NRG field turf, according to fellow South Carolina alum & Texans teammate DJ Swearinger. In regards to my own mock drafts this does change things a bit & will not be afraid to select a player, despite size limitations or reliable sources/rankings, take best football player available, irregardless of need.

2) Deone Bucannon, SS/FS, 6010 211 A

Snapped up 5 picks before Texans, depending on who you listen or read either #1 or #2 Safety so far in stout Cardinals secondary. Can't wait to watch him play tonight against the Rams. 66 tackles 2 sacks & a pick. A very good looking young NFL safety.

3) Zach Mettenberger, QB, 6047 224 B

When finally activated to start he has flashed potential to be the Titans franchise QB. He can make all the throws, is accurate with a strong arm. only issue is his durability. OF course a lot of people would be taken off the field if pancaked & rolled by JJ Watt. Over 1400 yards in limited reps, 8 TD's 7 picks with a respectable 83.4 passer rating.

4) Chris Borland, ILB, 5114 248 A

Should have flipped Zach with Chris, he was there for Texans in 3rd taken by 49'ers #77 overall just a very good football player despite size, his heart & intelligence more than compensates (same thing I'm going to say this year about Kendricks this year). 65 tackles, 3 sacks & 3 interceptions.

4b) Ross Cockrell, CB, 6000 191 C
Drafted in 4th rd. by Buffalo Bills 109th just 8 picks down from where Texans would have selected had they not traded up for Louis Nix. Not much to report from him, inactive first 5 games Left outside CB behind Corey Graham. Look for him to be one of those players who make second year jump.

5) DeAndre Coleman, DE/NT, 6046 314 D

Undrafted free agent, picked up by Jags then Miami signed off practice squad. Then put him back on their practice squad. Did not factor in his knee injury that happened @ the combine running his forty (just game film) but it was known & he had surgery. Texans could claim him off Dolphin practice squad, if medically cleared 100% (we now must be extra vigilant in this area now right).

6) Rob Blanchflower, TE, 6041 256 D

7th rd. pick of Pittsburgh Steelers. One of their last cuts, now on practice squad. Drafted & still on a teams practice squad so does not deserve dreaded F but certainly disappointing.

6b) Matt Patchan, OT, 6062 302 D

Undrafted but signed to practice squad of Tampa Bay. Graded out 5th/6th rd. grade by ourlads so I'm not alone on this one. Classic developmental OT 5th on roster depth chart.

6c) Kapri Bibbs, RB, 5093 212 D+

Undrafted, sensing theme, but signed to Denver practice squad then activated week 9 then moved back to practice squad with stable of 5 backs. Give him some credit for making to active roster if only for limited time.

7) Zach Kerr, 6013 326 C+

Undrafted, signed by Colts & made active roster. Has three sacks & 16 tackles playing nose guard. Will see him this Sunday in Indianapolis.

I'd fire myself with these results. Clowney condition not fair but reality. Still feel all these players will make it to some degree, early results are very favorable for Bucannon & Borland. Clowney possibly in two years if everything goes well? Overall C or worse just doesn't cut it! This is how I deal with state of Texans draft as well fire Rick Smith!
