How many QBs do you think the QBs have genuine interest in?

I don't think they've fallen in love with any one QB. I believe there are 3 QBs that they'd like to have and 2 more that they could live with. I don't believe the top three are all necessarily on that list of 5 & they're going to work their board possibly getting their QB late in the 2nd or later.

Do you think the Texans have fallen in love with 1 QB in particular? None?

I have said this several times even before OB was our coach.

But if anyone really knows who the Texans do and do not like and they're not on the Texan's staff, then whoever leaked the info should be hunted down and fired. Most of the coaches on the team shouldn't even know for sure.

Interested how you evaluated those 5? I think if they keep 1.1 they draft Manziel or Bortles (if they go QB). They take TB if a trade into late first or Garoppolo at #33, McCarron in third (remember this in a mock to come).

Had time with @10ajmccarron this morning, who had interesting thoughts on college athlete unionization. He has not met with the #Texans.

Guess they are not interested in McCarron

Got this from Kings MMQB today:

1. I think I always love getting the Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft in the mail—you can order it at ourlads.com—and thumbing through to read who Tom Hepler, Dan Shonka and company are high (and low) on. Interesting notes this year: Ourlads has Washington State free safety Deone Bucannon going 13th overall, to the Rams … The quarterback picks are interesting: The first one off the board, Ourlads says, will be Johnny Manziel, 26th to Cleveland; then Blake Bortles 33rd to Houston, Teddy Bridgewater 39th to Jacksonville and Jimmy Garoppolo 40th to Minnesota.

Wow

doing my best to watch and listen, i dont think there's a specific "love". if i had to guess the quarterback that the texans would want more than the others it would be bridgewater. aside from that, i think the texans are seeing this as a BPA pick more than a "we have to have this guy" pick. if they can trade down and get their guy at value, or trade up to get the guy at value, or even wait until the second day - that will be the result.

quarterback is a must have it seems, but i dont think it will be the first pick. my assumption is that the brass believe there are several capable quarterbacks, but arent going to reach and waste a pick to take one over another.

I have a feeling this years draft is going to get the highest ratings they have ever gotten for a draft and Goddell will want to move the draft to May.

The owner loves Manziel

BOB loves Savage

Smith loves the fact that he still has a job.

LOL

Here's the list of the quarterbacks who will be in attendance for the NFL draft:
Blake Bortles
Teddy Bridgewater
Jimmy Garappolo
Johnny Manziel

Derek Carr and Tom Savage were also invited, but declined. The fact that Savage was invited seems to suggest that there are teams out there who think so highly of him that he could go in the first 40 picks. It's very possible that he's the apple of BoB's eye. If they stay pat, it's probably Bortles. If they trade down, it's probably Savage in the second.

I think, out of the top contenders, we care about most about Bortles (more traditional) and Manziel (marketing/buzz).

Wow

Is this everyones first draft? Just because the Texans have not met with McCarron does NOT mean they are not interested in him. The exact opposite may very well be true.

IMHO their mindset is they have focused on one guy who they believe will be able to consistently take them to the playoffs and the best answer to Andrew Luck twice a year. Another factor in their decision is if they pass on the above will he become a Jaguar compounding the Texans strength of schedule difficulty.

I think we have a genuine interest in any QB that upgrades our roster. I also think we will go bang for buck. I don't see the same mistake from the Carr era happening again; taking a so-so QB over the much better pass rusher.

I have a serious worry that we might go defense in the first round and get a QB in the 2nd round. I really don't like those 2nd round guys in McCarron and especially don't like Mettenger from LSU. Both of those guys spell average to me. I really don't want to have to waste a few seasons on an average guy hoping that he'll turn into something when he never had the potential to be a top QB in the NFL in the first place. The only two QB's that I see having really potential to be great players in this draft are Bortles and Manziel. Manziel has a lot of concerns still, but I'd roll the dice on him, because if he does become really good, he'll be great. And if we pass on him and he somehow ends up as a Cowboy, that will be the worse thing that could ever happen if he ends up being a great player. We'll have to hear Cowboys fans rubbing that in our noses for years and years.

You wrote it up far better than I could, but echoing my thoughts pretty closely!
