7) Johnnie Farms, NT Memphis, 6100 322

Trying to upgrade every position possible, making hit of selecting QB less painful looking at the bigger picture. Hopefully Blake even as a rookie is an upgrade over Schaub. Choose Jernigan because think he could fill Antonio Smith role & kick inside sub packages, would take a push here. Turner seems like he would be able to upgrade RT position over what Texans had last season in Newton. Gaines would replace Brice in nickle coverage. Jordan is athletic pass catching TE to replace Owen Daniels while Zumwalt would line up next to Cushing, replacing Sharpton. Included two 5th rd. comp picks to be awarded very soon. Adding two intriguing offensive weapons to bolster depth. Huff can play both safety positions runs well & plays hard while Farms is my sleeper pick, looks like a pure nose guard with Poe like first step & good base to engage double teams. Almost forgot to include extra pick just acquired via Oakland, so took a WR with return ability & back-up to Martin as slot receiver, has big hands & ran a sub 4.5 forty.

I like the draft, but don't think Jernigan fits our new style of 3-4 system. Now if Wade were still around he'd fit the Texans needs perfectly, but not this 2 gap system. He's just not big enough.

Most of Crennel's DEs have been 300+ lbs. He might fit in there.

I just don't think Jernigan falls this far tbh. Let alone your concerns.

If that guy is 300 lbs, he's not 6'1" more like 6'5"

If he's 6'1" he's not 300 lbs, more like 270

Looks like a football player though.

combine says he weighed 299 @ 6'2" He looks like a shade under 6200 & little over 300 lbs to me, more compact than long.
Slightly undersized, stoutly built, country-strong run stopper with the ability to drop anchor inside an odd front and develop into a solid, 3-4 movement nose tackle. Strength is his calling card despite his relatively modest size.

He looks thicker than Antonio Smith, similar penetrating style, good hands/footwork, non stop motor for bigger guy, not rotational but every down DL who moves around per line calls. Thanks!

Antonio is 6'4" 290.... For a 6'0"-6'1" guy to weigh 300 lbs, he'll have to have that spare tire thing going. I searched for other pictures of Timmy Jernigan, looks like he may have a little extra junk in the trunk, which could explain it. Like Earl Mitchell carried his weight in his lower body.... which is cool for a DT/NT....

That picture you showed earlier, the guy looked like a body builder.... 10% body fat at the most. He'd have to be taller than Antonio Smith if he weighed 300 lbs. Like Jj Watt or Mario Williams.

changed it for you, spare tire, junk in the trunk, lol. two things he does well, keeps his pad level low & explosive with violent hands.

That wasn't necessary. But even that picture, the guy looks remarkably thin if he's 6'1" 300lbs. That's some really dense muscle.

Shouldn't be looked at as an insult, but he looks more like a 6'4" ~ 6'5" DE than a Warren Sapp like 6'2" 300lb DT.

I would be concerned with Jernigan at NT but ok with him replacing Smith. My guy to do that is Tuitt.

Projecting Powe to be Texan starting nose but rotates out 3rd down or when play calling dictates & Jernigan kicks inside because he is plus penetrating DT. Have you checked out my NT prospect in 7th, remember where the other Poe was from? Can lightening strike twice?
