NFL playoffs 2013-14

Drew brees and Aaron Rodgers comes to mind. They're not going to have to leave a man in the box to spy on Peyton. He doesnt run. So another player to drop in coverage.

Seattle is not the behemoth D you are making out.

Take a step back from Brees and Manning. Matt Schaub hung 355 yds on them and 2 TDs.

Yea your right, ill replay Sherman's antics to my fourth graders and tell them that as long as you play good you can say anything you want.

I'm guessing you aren't a parent.

Yes and as a parent I teach my son that batman is a role model not a pro football player.

Stoner bowl

Colorado and Washington

That's freaking hilarious. That's so good I bet it'll stick during the next two weeks.

After all, the sticky stuff is the best kind. :hides:

How long have you been watching sports? He just made the biggest play in the biggest game of his career. You can't expect everyone to just shrug their shoulders and think that play was no big deal. Trash talking is one of the best parts of sports, and Sherman can walk the walk and talk the talk. I loved his interview.

Where are you pulling this role model stuff from? Did you watch the game with your son? Did you have to explain why Sherman said what he said?

So what you are saying is that it is okay for Sherman to say whatever he wants without a filter?

Do you coach at the youth level? If so what kind of values do you try to instill in the young kids apart from learning the game and elevating their skills.

You're entitled to your opinion as am I, and yet I wont try to belittle you for making your case. Have a good one hoss.

When I played ball I was taught to knock the guy on his ass, then help him get up then knock him on his ass again.

You win with class and you lose with class.

Yes -- at least the getting into Stanford part.

yeah, let's see

-Stanford graduate
-One of the best in the world at his profession
-As far as I know, no significant criminal history
-okay is admittedly has a jackass side to personality

Yeah, think I would live with the job I have done with him.

Yeah sherman can say what he wants cause hes paid as a professional. You having arian teach your boy about marriage? Allegedly

I agree.

Lesser kids in situation would have been in serious trouble. He was lucky to have a very sensible mother from all accounts - whom I'm sure will be having a word after today, and had he good sense himself to keep his head down and do well athletically and academically in one of the top colleges in the country.

That said, 20 seconds after a game is mot the best time for a truly reflective interview.

Brilliant play though.

1st yards allowed, 1st in point allowed, 1st passing yards per game, 1st in total takeaways, 1st Ints

this is the best defense we seen in quite a few years...decent game by Houston be damned.

Richard Sherman wants to be Mayweather in a football uniform. You'll either like it or hate it. I personally hate it. He's a divaish attention whore. I call him Nicki Minaj in a uniform. I would love to to see that dude run up on the wrong dude in the streets talking.

I just saw the interview after the game. My opinion is the same. Sherman's a wiener that needs to grab hold of the reins. Maybe if he valued his opinion of himself a little more he wouldn't get so bitchy about what other people think, I dunno. JMO, is all.

His play did all the talking he had to do. I guess that's the philosophical difference between old school and new school. We were taught to, as is the refrain today, act like we've been there before. Whether it be a championship or a good play during a game or a win. We already did our talking, the scoreboard says so, win or lose.

Once in baseball we were beating Westbury so bad they turned the scoreboard off so Sharpstown, who were playing Bellaire next, wouldn't see Waltrip 18, Westbury 2. We hated Westbury because they were trash-talkers and we were talking back at them. I'll never forget when our coach pointed out the now-blank scoreboard and said, "NOW tell me the scoreboard doesn't talk your talk. It was screaming your ability at them."

As for trash-talking being a cool part of sports. Again, don't get it. As I said earlier, I got into with players on the other side, but generally speaking nothing good could be had from pissing your opponent off, especially in football.

Old school is just different, I guess. I hope one day the pendulum swings back to less talk, but I'm not holding my breath.

Mayweather is an ass, who beat his girlfriend and served prison time, Sherman an ultra competitive athlete who went off once in the heat of the moment without swearing.

I'm finding the Sherman reaction confusing when we've had 3 hours of Harbaugh repeatedly screaming obsenities directly at other people.

Sherman has been putting on this act and craving attention since he came in the league. I haven't cared for his antics for a while now. He admittedly loves the villain role. He doesn't have the jail record of Mayweather, but he's still young. If you think this is a one time thing with ole' Dicky boy then you're mistaken.

News flash: football players talk ****.

Shocking.

Anyway, great games. I'm rooting for the Seahawks against the Broncos because I put a preseason championship bet on them.

I know all about his playing style and his interactions with other players - it is the same as many, many other players in he league.

This is the first time that he has gone off on one like today - and I think your suggestion of his clean jail slate being down to him being young is completely uncalled for. There have been multiple reports about him being a completely different person on and off the field hat do nothing to suggest that he has a criminal record waiting to appear.

He doesn't play in a style that I would, however his biggest crime today was calling another player mediocre and displaying vanity. He didn't even curse. I'm far more aggitated by continual close ups of Harbaugh screaming abuse at officials...

football is entertainment.

sherman is entertaining. better than all the current boring athletes that say your typical politically correct answers.

"first off i want to thank god. both teams played hard. it was hard fought win. i'm proud of my guys."

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

maybe the nfl should just stop interviewing players right after they make a big play in a intense playoff game vs. a heated rival to get to the super bowl

Its uncalled for because I said he could enventually go to jail since he's young? Whatever dude...... Sherman has bumped his gums off the field for years craving attention. I don't like the dude. You don't mind it. To each his own. He's still Nicki Minaj in a jersey to me and always will be. Have a good night!

I love Vancouver by the way! Can't wait to go back!

I'm more upset at Pete Carroll being a 9/11 truther ****ing ******* being one of two coaches in the Super Bowl than I could ever be about Richard Sherman.

you take how you want to.

I'm black and if you asked me of my opinion of Richard Sherman before tonight, or even last year I would have told you he's a clown. A talented clown, but still a clown. Now you can proceed with whatever thoughts and insinuate whatever else you would like.

It comes down to this. These are entertainers, not role models. Football is an intense, violent sport in which players put everything they have in to it. It is what it is. Deal with it.

Hey thats fine - you can dislike the dude all you want. I get annoyed sometimes when there is an assumption someone's professional life is the same as their personal - I'm just not seeing a kid who avoided gang life as a kid and returned to Stanford to get a head start on his masters degree as a potential jailbird. Each to their own - and as I say, I definitely wouldn't act in that style if I were him.

Glad you like the city, must be a bit of a change! First pint is on me when you're in town next.

Sherman following what Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco did... nothing new.

And plenty of people hated their acts..... if someone makes it known that he loves the villain role then since when is everyone supposed to love it? I think its fun for the game, and talking to some buddies of mine they love him. I kind of find his act somewhat phony and don't really care for him. Not everyone likes the Joker either...... He's the Joker to me.

all day the only thing I was thinking Man How would things have been different if Peyton manning came to the Houston Texans 2 years ago ..????

would Keivn water still be here turned into a 1k Star reciver same with Dressen

Would we have made the SB...?????

So many what ifs

I didn't have a problem with his post game interview. I did have a problem with Sherman going up to Crabtree slapping his behind and forcing a "sportsmanship" handshake to an opponent after a dramatic lost. It was an obvious a mocking and taunting manner. I wish Crabtree coldcock him right there for being an ahole.

And as for Sherman crying about Crabtree talking smack to him, this is football! Trash talking is as natural as crowd noise. What? Because you Richard Sherman, an all-pro cb, you should be exempt from being talked to in that manner?

If Seattle wins the SB I would be concern for Sherman's health. This dude could OD'd on his own ego.

Seattle away from Quest field is a different team....They're also young. The Broncos have the advantage and veteran leadership....should be a good game.
I love this. If you like him, he's veteran leadership, but if you don't, he's just an old, worn out has been or never was.

I'll go with the latter.
