We Are In Purgatory

season is pretty much done and we have nothing to look forward to.
we dont have a young team that we can enjoy watching grow.
we dont have a qb we can see progress with every win or loss
were not a team on the rise, but were not a team that can win it.
our coach is not getting fired until the end of the season, and HE WILL try to win as many games as possible to save his job. he can probably get us to 8-8 which means we wont get a game changing qb in the draft.

we are in the worst position in the nfl right now. worse than jacksonville because they at least have the 1st pick.

oh, and were already in cap trouble, imagine how much its gunna hurt to pay watt and kj.

how the f did we get here?

:mcnugget: Other than say AJ, Daniels and Schaub, who is old??

We were in purgatory after the Seattle game. I think we've moved on to hell. Because if listening to Gary Kubiak's post-game presser blather isn't some sort of sick, horrible punishment, I don't know what is.

We have come full circle. Colts back at #1 prob for next 10 yrs, and the titans are now the benchmark for #2 team in division.

What a ****ed up world we live in. :)

We've been there since the 70's. Bad call on Renfro's TD catch, Montana's drive, Elway's drive, Bills meltdown, etc. The list could go on...

Houston's cursed when it comes to football. We get screwed or find ways to screw it up.

those damn colts. what did they suffer, like 1 yr since getting manning. and that one year got them luck and set them up for the next 10 yrs.

jeez.

Despite massive talent difference: '05 #Texans (2-14):26th in scoring, 32nd in pts allowed. '13 Texans:26th & 28th #Turnovers

convince me. tell me how we can do this. i want to believe.

simple

yates or keenum comes in and gives us that spark kinda like in in 2011

and maybe we don't make the playoffs but we can start winning and maybe get to 9-7

and u know what we can just strat playing to be a spoiler team meaning start winning and pull playoff hopeful teams down with us into our misery LOL

like

Knock the colts out from seeding

Kick the titans WC hopes away

beating NE and Denver

I'll tell you.. we have to suck this year.

This isn't purgatory.. it's a cleansing, a gate, a doorway, a bridge (whatever the **** you want to call it), we must pass over it and move through it to move forward.

I rooted for us to go down in flames against the Rams and before people say I'm not a fan, because I rooted for my team to lose, or rooted for Schaub to extend his sole ownership of the NFL record of pick 6's.. I did it, because I'm a fan. A fan that realizes this current team's max potential is mediocrity. As a fan I expect more and when you're stuck in "not bad enough to make change, but not good enough to win it", that's when you're in purgatory. So I hope they fall on their face, because a change has to be made.

The only way this team is going to rid themselves of what's truly wrong with this team (coach and QB) is for them to fall flat on their collective faces. I'll still tune in and watch every second of it.

So you'll be happy with a 8-8 season that leads to the status quo and no change for the future? What you just described is "purgatory"

Me hoping these problems hit them now and lead to change IS rooting for them to win.. in the future. As currently constructed, they aren't going to win crap of any importance. This team is lucky they aren't 0-6 right now and nobody doubts their talent level, so the problem that they're having goes beyond talent.. it wreaks of poor leadership and it stems from the HC and QB.

As a Spurs fan also, I believe in this. The Spurs went thru a year like that when David Robinson got hurt. We were able to draft Timmy and the rest is history. I hope it is the same for the Texans.

i would agree with you IF we wouldnt get screwed with schaubs contract. were locked in with this guy this year AND next. cant cut him because of the massive cap hit. were stuck.........purgatory!!!

I took my nine year old daughter to the game yesterday and in the 4th quarter, out of the blue, she shook her fist at the Reliant field and said "you are a factory of sadness!" It literally made me laugh out loud. That was the highlight of my entire day.

For those of you who haven't seen it, this is the video that she got the phrase from (I showed her the vid a few weeks ago, and she remembered that line):

A Factory of Sadness

No. I think he means he hopes the team turns it around and never loses another game this season. That should be all fans goal until they are really eliminated from the playoffs. Yes, once they are out of contention "wishing" for total failure so there is a regime change or higher draft pick is prevalent among fans. This season seems lost already and I fully expect the team to lose the next 2 games. I'll still root for them to win though.

It doesn't matter anyways. Fans have so little bearing on what happens on the field you can wish in one hand and...well you know the rest.

A high colonic, and I'd say we are moving through it.

Not true. 3 million cap hit next year and 7 million the year after. That's not terrible if he's replaced by someone on a rookie contract.

Gary Kubiak and The Mediocrity Treadmill everyone!! :hurrah:

Some folks didn't appreciate my Rockets mediocrity treadmill analogy, but we're mired in mediocrity all the same. Major changes are required.

Speaking of blather, After each and every loss Gary takes the blame, players take the blame, Gary takes the blame. players take the blame. But really has anything changed?

and I root for them to fail, because whatever lands in that "one hand", you might as well grasp it, squeeze it, and throw it against the wall, because the outcome will still be the same. "wishing" for this team to turn in around is like believing in unicorns and believing in magic... they are non-existent and it isn't going to happen

I wish for this team to win also.. I just recognize the fact that they aren't going to win what I expect them to as currently constructed.

no I wanna win the SB and next year make changes and win the SB again etc etc etc

anything less is un acceptable

In the NFL there isn't a "uncutable" contract.. We're already in "cap hell" and are (luckily) 2-4, we can easily absorb Schaub's cap hit and win just as many games.

Yeah and I want to wake up every morning next to Kate Upton, the fact that I realize that isn't a possibility doesn't make me less of a fan or a dreamer. It just makes me a realist who recognizes Kubiak and Schaub have to go and I'm never going to wake up next to Kate Upton.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/54311/matt-schaubs-guarantees-run-out-this-year

It doesn't look like we owe him a nickel after this year. So it will just be the prorated cap hit from his signing bonus which shouldn't be too bad, since a rookie QB contract won't cost near as much as Schaub's.

sup fellas?

maaan! I feel like we Ravens fans are in purgatory as well. our offense is pure garbage at the moment! we could have beaten the packers had the offense done something with the football when they had the chances. now, we're 3-3 and have to go into Pittsburg next week before our bye.

Please use the nsfw section to post pics of sex toys.

Seriously though even if we dump Schaub and draft a young QB it won't mean jack schit if Kubiak is still the HC. I don't think it will take 3-4 seasons to make this team competitive/playoff bound. But a clean slate has to occur and I doubt McNair has it in him to fire Kubiak.

I agree Scahub and Kubes have to go but just because they leave why do we have to give up on winning ..????

We're somewhere, purgatory, hell, Tennessee, Dallas. Wherever it is I'm not diggin it.

Its getting bad, really bad. Yesterday, I didn't even watch the game! This is marks the first time in the history of the Texans that I didn't either watch, or go to the game. It felt kind of good though, after the game was over my phone started blowing up with calls from my friends. When they told me they got their asses whooped, it didn't surprise me, it was kind of what I had expected. Then again.... I DVR'd the game and gave it a go late last night, and damn was it bad.

When the team is getting to the the point to where I didn't mind missing watching a game, that's bad.

Nope. Y'all won the Super Bowl last year. You don't get to pretend to be in purgatory for at least 5 years. I'd gladly trade positions with you if it meant we had a banner that says we were the best for that year.

yeah raven yall have won 2 SB yall don't get to have this honor

Guess how many SBowls we have ZERO

We have never even been to the SB

I understand your frustration and of course, i'm glad that my Ravens won the Super Bowl last season. but that was last season! we are 6 weeks into this new season and to keep it real, the Ravens offense is stinking up the joint week after week after week! receivers can't get open! running backs can't run! O-line is pure trash! Flacco holds the ball too long at times and can't sense his way out of a collapsing pocket if it were a wet paper sack! our defense is playing better and caring this pathetic offense...once again!

Well, at least the music's good!

Season is not done, not close to it. They still control their destiny with a ton of AFC games ahead of them and 5 more division games ahead of them as well.

The record looks bad, the team looks bad, but the season is not done.

That's pretty much worst case scenario, a bad draft pick, no playoffs, and Kubiak around even longer.

why would u think that how about 9-7 we hit on the draft pick fire kubes and go to the playoffs again next year ...???? wouldn't u like that

can we get some confirm on this. i thought it was like a 13 mil cap hit next year?

It's only 3.5 million in dead money, but would free up 10 million against the cap. You can cut him and designate him as a June 1st cut and you're out next to nothing.

I have a MAGIC UNICORN and colored like a rainbow. Only you can't see him. Because he's MAGIC. I can see him though.

But for the rest of what you've posted in this post and the last several, yeah, I agree. :handshake:
