Just win baby!!!

So, we had the poll in the TexansTalk section of the forum, “What does losing week 1 mean?” and the winner (by a landslide) was depends on how they played. With that in mind, let’s look at week 1’s losers.

Bengals
Still my favorite to win the AFC North. I forgot how good the Bears could be. I thought the Aj Green yap was hype. I don’t any more.
Ravens
They looked bad. Flacco was back to “regular season” Flacco. Oher left the game early with an ankle injury, he’s day to day, may not miss a game… but that could spell longterm trouble for the Ravens. Jacoby is also day to day. Not a big part of their offense & they’ve got a rookie who might end up stealing that job (WR2). Defensively… I know it’s Peyton Manning, but 7 TDs in one game, that’s bad. It’s just week 1 but they look like they’re in trouble of not making the play offs for the first time in Flacco’s career (which is a shame because that’s the only time Flacco is worth watching).
Browns
Someone had to lose. I think that is unfortunate as I believe both clubs (Miami @ Cleveland) are on the upswing. Miami is further along defensively, so it made sense that Cleveland was going to have trouble scoring. Brandon Weeden threw 3 INT to 1 TD, Trent Richardson never got loose, can’t find a WR in the stat sheet, but Jordan Cameron is the real deal. With Baltimore & Pittsburgh looking rather anemic, the Browns may sneak into the #2 spot. Will that be good enough for a Wild-Card?
Steelers
Surely the Steelers aren’t this bad. We’ll find out a little more when we face Tennesse next week.

Calvin Johnson was robbed of another TD, but they still beat you by two scores. AD was AD, strong running day 93 yards & a TD, but where was everyone else? This is not the way to make a statement against a divisional foe; the 4-12 NFC North last place divisional foe. Detroit made a statement, they’re in the race…. Are you?
Packers
Nothing to say. They are who we thought they were, they just got beat by a good team. A damn good team.

Raiders
I personally don’t think anything has gone according to plan for the Raiders in quite some time. That guy wasn’t supposed to be your QB, that guy wasn’t supposed to be your best WR, your RB was deemed a bust quite a while ago. But I that was the first Raiders game I thoroughly enjoyed watching in a long, long time. But you got Lucked. Future is much brighter than I thought a week ago.
Chargers
Looked good in the first qtr. Looked good in the 2nd qtr. Looked like a totally different team in the 3rd & 4th. I’m hoping they’ll end up being that first team, give Denver a run for their money, smack them around a little bit. If they turn out to be that second team… lol
Cardinals
Honey Badger. That’s all I got to say.

Jaguars
Lol
Falcons
You’re in it, but the division race will probably go just like this game.
Buccaneers
You should have won that game. But that’s not saying a lot. You scored 17 points against the Jets, woohoo. You play Atlanta & NO twice. Go ahead and mark those down at 2 losses & play like you’re in a 5 game hole to start the season. Forget about winning this season & start get ready for 2014.
Panthers
I honestly haven’t seen anything from this game but the score. Nothing about it makes sense. I need to watch it to see what happened, but looking at the box-score… not sure I want to put myself through that.

Giants
It’s difficult for me to recognize how good this team is. I don’t know what it is. But for some reason I think they’re just another team, but Eli is better than I think he is. I gotta stop denying that. Nicks & Cruz….. wow & Randle played like a first rounder.
Redskins
Something doesn’t look right here.

Bills
I’m impressed with the Bills. That was a good game & I think their future looks bright. Ej Manuel may not be a franchise QB, but he’s going to be pretty good. Several things still need to be worked out, but I think they’ll be in the wild-card race with Miami

Patriots:

I know they won against the Bills on the road, but Brady and the receiver corp did not look good working together.

Browns (I feel this deserves expansion)

I have no clue how any of their faithful haven't thrown in the towel yet. It never ends. And this week they'll get a pizzed off Ravens team that got schooled by Manning and started on the road when they shouldn't have. Its going to be ugly.

Getting pissed off is only going to help them so much. If the Browns can get after Flacco (& I think they can), they'll whup'em. That will be a huge confidence booster for them.

Steelers
Surely the Steelers aren’t this bad...

They are. And don't call me Shirley.

if and when the steelers get back to having a "steelers" offense, they'll be good again. they still have a top 5 defense, but the ugly spread out rex grossman "fk it i'm going deep" crap on offense that they try to play is costing them games. they need an offseason dedicated to creating a big ugly run game and they'll be on top for as long as dick lebeau is with them.

RGIII looked wobbly at times, just like he looked in his last game of last season........he shouldn't have been out there this soon............his presence was more of a reflection of an arrogance of the player, coach and physician. Expect RGIII to enjoy his sideline attire once again this season. You know what they say, "Crutches make the man."

AD had one carry of 78 yards, then another 17 carries for 15 yards. Hardly a strong running day.

RG3′S mechanics a cause for concern

September 14, 2013, 2:06 PM EDT

When Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III stepped on the field for the first time since blowing out his knee in January, he looked like a guy whose recovery is still a work in progress, rather than a player who is all the way back.

That’s the word from former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski, who said on ESPN’s NFL Matchup that Griffin isn’t throwing the ball well because he’s still favoring his injured knee.

“His mechanics are flawed right now because of the injury,” Jaworski said.

As Jaworski showed a Griffin interception, he talked about how Griffin’s footwork was all wrong.

“He never gets his weight on the back foot. As this ball comes out, it’s going to lack energy,” Jaworski said. “His front foot, which is where your weight should transfer to, actually pulls back. So you’re losing the body momentum, the ability to drive the ball with the hip snap, to get the ball to the outside.”

Jaworski said that Griffin will pass the ball better when his knee starts to feel better, but right now it’s a major issue.

“He had a very serious injury,” Jaworski said. “He is protecting that right leg. I get it, I understand it. But you’ve got to be able to make these throws. And I’m sure in three or four weeks, he will be making these throws. But right now, his mechanics, in throwing the football, those deep throws down the field where mechanics are critical, he is struggling.”

According to ESPN, Griffin had 11 off-target passes against the Eagles, more than he had in any game in his rookie season. Griffin may have been medically cleared to play, but he still needs time to shake off the rust.
