SOTT: Texans Risers Coming Out of Texans OTAs

The Houston Texans wrapped up OTAs last week and after 10 practices the team got some quality work done prior to mini-camp. Rookies were introduced to the veterans and they experienced NFL level practices. While the veterans shook of some rust from the off-season, they still worked out efficiently under controlled circumstances.

The seasoned veterans on the team took days off to give some of the younger players some much-needed reps, but overall the team was focused on the task at hand. Even without pads there were some standouts during the 10 days and they showed some solid progression heading into mandatory mini-camp.

Great read and glad to see Crick beefing up, maybe he tries to beef up and take over the NT position, which IMO is up for grabs.

Last year he played at ~285. To be an effective NT, I believe he needs to carry more like 310 with his 6'4" frame.
What are they saying he weighs now?

How much does Cody weigh (has he got a job yet?), How much doe Mitchell weigh?

Is it just me, or does the description of Alan Bonner's style remind you of Wes Welker? Deceptive speed, excellent body control in and out of routes...

That was a really good quick write up. Msr. Thanks for sharing.

. The third year version of Reed looks leaner and faster than previous seasons. He has worked at inside linebacker the entire OTAs next to Darryl Sharpton with the absence of Brian Cushing and Tim Dobbins. Reed looks quicker and faster on the field and not as muscled up as 2012
If this is accurate, that's great news. I understand the need to be strong and physical, but at olb burst is really important.

If reed has lost weight and gained some explosion I may have to re evaluate him. I was not impressed with him as an edge player at all last year as a pass rusher.

I think with all the guys we have now, we'll find a good edge rush and I don't think wade is going to sit around all year waiting for guys to find something that's not there. We have guys now.

I'm also curious how jagared David is doing. I think if he's learning the play book he has a great opportunity to make it as a back up ilb here. Dude is a baller and I'm almost positive when the pads are on he'll show up more.

Cody still doesn't have a job.

Cody - 307 (seen him up as high as 310)
Mitchell - 300 (seen him up as high as 305)
Crick - 290
