Tbh I like him as a RT. I like his pass protection a lot.Just an excellent pick.
This could actually be Wade Smith's replacement if Brooks stays on the right side.
Just throwing out options. Quessenberry could play any of the positions except C along the line.Tbh I like him as a RT. I like his pass protection a lot.
But whatever, I just think he's a good player to have and develop. He definitely has starter potential.
David Quessenberry, OL, San Jose State: A former walk-on tight end who started the past three seasons at left tackle, Quessenberry was asked to play virtually every position up front for the North team this week. With a broad-shouldered, long-armed frame (6-5, 294 pounds) that looks capable of handling another 15 pounds with some work in an NFL weight room, he drew positive notes from scouts during Monday's weigh-in and played well throughout the week. He demonstrated athleticism, strength and the mental toughness to handle the jump in competition as well as the constant position changes. Quessenberry was one of six prospects individually highlighted by Phil Savage, the Senior Bowl's director and a former NFL general manager.
He can play C too.Just throwing out options. Quessenberry could play any of the positions except C along the line.
Nice.
And Brooks could go over to LG.Great pick - Quiz at RG and Williams at RT. Both will challenge to start.
Exactly. Great fit and value. I thought he would have been long gone by now.A steal this late. I had him going much higher than the 6th round.
There will be stiff competition for the starting RT spot.
Reminds me of Logan Mankins who kicked inside from LT to become a pro bowl LG.A steal this late. I had him going much higher than the 6th round.
There will be stiff competition for the starting RT spot.
Hell I thought he was an option in the 3rd when they took Brennan WilliamsExactly. Great fit and value. I thought he would have been long gone by now.
Only one other tackle left on the board that I think could start this season in Quessenberry .... Glad they got this pick out of the way.
I thought so when I saw your Texans mock but now I know it. Dayumm you're good!Hell I thought he was an option in the 3rd when they took Brennan Williams

Texans sign their four sixth-round picks: OT David Quessenberry, WR Alan Bonner, DT Chris Jones, TE Ryan Griffin.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/david-quessenberry?id=2539301I don't know if the Texans know exactly where they want him to play or if they even maybe see him as a guy that could back up both guard and tackle spots.
He said that during the rookie camp he was playing inside and outside.
It will be interesting to see which guy taking reps at which position in TC and PS.I'd rather Williams go to LG and be Wade Smith's future replacement. I think he and Duane Brown would be absolute beasts over there. I love how he tries to punish defenders in the run game and I think he's a really good run blocker.
But his pass blocking on film was awful. He did so many things wrong and and he got his QB killed a couple times.
Maybe it's all technique, but to me he just looked uncomfortable as a pass blocker on the edge.
If he doesn't improve there, I'd want the Texans to move him to guard and work Quess as strictly a tackle. His pass blocking is 100% better than Williams.
Scoutings a very subjective thing. We look at hundreds of guys every year, and if you do this for a number of years, it ends up being in the thousands, probably, the number of players you evaluate. What happens a lot of times when youre gathering information, when youre talking to staff at a school, youre getting a lot of subjective information that you have to put a value on based on what you interpret his ability to be. What happens with scouts, you do see guys that you kind of like as a prospect, and it doesnt always have to be a first-round draft pick. It could be a seventh-round type draft pick where you just think, You know what, that would be a really good guy to get at a certain point in the draft. I kind of felt that way with David. I scouted him going into the senior season. In the spring, he weighed about 282, so he was a little lighter than the
prototypical tackles you see, but he got his weight up to close to 300 and probably played in the 290 and 295 range, and then when you talk to the staff there, they note that he was a former tight end who walked on and eventually grew into a tackle. I also like the fact that even though it was a non-skill position, he was elected captain for them twice. So you like those aspects about his personality and character, and then when you watch him on tape, he is a good athlete. I thought he was a good technician when you watched how he played. I thought he was a very effective run blocker both on the line of scrimmage and at the second level. He did a nice job in pass protection. He actually played part of his season, I believe, with a sprained ankle, so some teams may have looked at tape when he was injured and they may not have liked (him) as much, but I actually liked the fact that he gutted it, played tough, worked through the injury. When he was available in the sixth round, me personally, he was a kid I was kind of excited because I thought he was a very good value for the potential return in the prospect. I think hell be a good guy to see if he can develop.
I'm confused ? Are you talking about Quessenberry or the other offensive tackle we drafted, Williams, who is already injured ?I fully expect him to end up on IR by the end of preseason, with an unconfirmed injury we had no prior knowledge about.
a.k.a we are saving him for next year
Yup, happens every year. I haven't ever tracked any other teams MO. Anyone know if this is common throughout the league?Could be either one, it seems like every season one of our draft picks/UDFA's that we really like but don't have a spot for on the team ends up on IR for mysterious reasons, This season I'm putting my money on Qberry
Verrrry Texanny!they note that he was a former tight end who walked on and eventually grew into a tackle. Yep, Q's a keeper for sure. Can't believe he made it 'til the 6th. Great snag by that GM that so many folks at one time beat on like a buck toothed, pimpled, red headed step child .[IMGwidthsize=600]http://prod.images.texans.clubs.nflcdn.com/image-web/NFL/CDA/data/deployed/prod/TEXANS/assets/images/imported/HOU/photos/clubimages/2013/08-August/temp_BB16714--nfl_mezz_1280_1024.JPG[/IMG]

A quick-footed huge load to move, who moves a load. I would love to see him eventually tried at OT.[IMGwidthsize=600]http://prod.images.texans.clubs.nflcdn.com/image-web/NFL/CDA/data/deployed/prod/TEXANS/assets/images/imported/HOU/photos/clubimages/2013/08-August/temp_BB16714--nfl_mezz_1280_1024.JPG[/IMG]

+1 I'd like to see him get a chance at RT.A quick-footed huge load to move, who moves a load. I would love to see him eventually tried at OT.
Have been thinking about this more lately. I am not a fan of Newton. I know some on here think Newton is going to develop, but I don't see it. Qberry looks a lot more technically solid than Newton, and he's plenty powerful, I think.+1 I'd like to see him get a chance at RT.
I believe this is the issue....I'm not sure if his offseason knee surgery is to blame or what but he has regressed from the end of last season.
