Rolando McClain to Ravens

I like the moves they made. They lost guys but quietly replenished

Rolando McClain, rumored to #Ravens, is only 23 years old. 2009 Butkus Award winner. Was @PFF's No. 7 run-defending ILB in football last yr.

Makes sense: Rolando McClain, Oakland's former first-round pick, starred at Alabama, the alma mater of Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome.
Evan Silva ‏@evansilva 26m

Pro Football Focus also charted Rolando McClain with just 3 missed tackles in 2012, 3rd fewest among ILBs with 500+ snaps. 2-down thumper.

I was about to post this. This could be a good move for McClain if he can put his demons behind him. McClain has talent and if he can harness it in Baltimore and keeps his nose clean I think he'll be a good fit and allow the Ravens to keep Courtney Upshaw on the outside where I think he's a better fit.

BUENO!
Ray Lewis will personally get involved in saving this young man's career by mentoring him and doing that dance of his as often as it takes to motivate him. This will of course mean that Lewis will need to be on the Ravens staff in some capacity and keep him on the sidelines for to foreseeable future.

Lets face it. He's never going to go away and to make matters worse Rolando McCain who is a turd in every possible way you could describe one (probably got a peanut sticking out the side of his head) will finally live up to his potential and become an All Pro for the Ravens.

I would really love for that to happen but I've read a few places that Lewis is going into broadcasting. I'm not sure for who though. I'd much rather see him stick with the Ravens in some capacity than to wind up on the NFLN. That would be close to the proverbial straw for me to have Ray Lewis and Michale Irvin on the same set at the same time. Both talk too much just to hear themselves talk.

Both great players in their time but on a personal level I can't stand either one of 'em. I can't get to the mute or FF buttons quickly enough.

*(Looked like corn to me)* :truck:

I think Ray Lewis has already signed a contract to be on ESPN.

There is a reason he is called SloRo. Kind of hard to miss a tackle when you're trailing the play. With that said, word is he told the Raiders not to draft him, so I suspect he felt he didn't need to try with them. You may see a different Rolando in Baltimore . . . then again, maybe not.

That is why I like it. They won't pay him a ton and overall they seem to get the best out these guys. Even with a 2 down guy if he is making tackles, that fills some of the void. It was like Ray Ray was all over the place at the end.

I guess Ozzie Newsome, a Bama alum, thinks he knows something about McClain that everyone else doesn't. Good luck with that. He's been bad news since he entered the league.

They have replenished well. On paper
The Ravens manage their cap/team as well as any team in the NFL. Giants/Seattle etc.... They do it with a mixture of bringing in FA's and hitting on about 60/75% of the draft picks. Newsome knows he can find SEC sleepers late in the draft due to his Alabama roots. Dont be suprised to see guys like LaVar Edwards,Rico Johnson etc.... become Ravens in the 4-6th rd.

Man this guy is a complete buffoon. Can't believe the Ravens signed him. What a waste of cap space. Might be better off singing Haynesworth.

Give the guy a break...... who doesn't get arrested every now and then? Its not like he was an accomplice to a murder or anything and got a suit all bloody.

Like I was saying.

I believe SloRo was cut from the same Alabama cloth as JaBustus Russell.

I'd be surprised if the ravens don't cut ties with this imbecile after this. Than again, they are the ratbirds.
It happened the other way around.

Rolando McClain Retires From NFL
The Ravens placed the inside linebacker and former first-round pick on the reserve/retired list Wednesday afternoon, General Manager Ozzie Newsome announced.

“Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL,” Newsome stated. “We have placed him on the Reserve/Retired list.”

McClain signed a one-year contract with the Ravens on April 12, but was arrested just 10 days later in his hometown of Decatur, Ala. It was the latest in a string of off-field problems for McClain since entering the league in 2009 as the eighth-overall pick.

Not really understanding this statement about then again they are the ratbirds. You say that as if they have the same history as the Raiders or the Bills over the last 12 years. The Ravens have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL and just came off a SB win. The last sentence here is pretty inaccurate.
