Payne Explains: Foster's 31-yd run

So, basically, Foster went down with the first hit. :jk:

On the Duane Brown show last night he said at half time Arian went to the OL group and asked them to keep doing what they had been doing & he promised to play harder, break tackles & dedicate himself to running harder. Duane said the group dedicated themselves to playing harder, get on their blocks quicker, hold their blocks quicker, get to the second level faster.

No one can deny there was a big difference between the two halves.

Nasty little cut block by Smith there. Nice release into second level by the rookie Ben Jones. Myers showing how it's done. Then Arian tosses that DB off him, "Get off me, biach."

Seth Payne is a great follow on Twitter. Funny guy.

I guess that's why Payne is the Texans ambassador.

It would have been even nicer if they had to decide to dedicate themselves from the start, LOL

Yeah, I noticed that too. Clearly should have been a penalty on Smith because the lineman was engaged and it came from the side.

Ehhh. should've been a penalty on us. Myers & Smith blocked the same guy 1 high & 1 low at the same time.....can't do that. I bet if we were in foxboro, the yellow hankie comes out....nevertheless it was a good run by Foster to hit it as soon as he saw it rather than trying to string it out like he tends to do sometimes.

isnt that an illegal chop block by smith..

Edit here is the rule:

Article 16 A chop block is a foul by the offense in which one offensive player (designated as A1 for
purposes of this rule) blocks a defensive player in the area of the thigh or lower while another offensive
player (A2) occupies that same defensive player in one of the circumstances described in subsections (1)
through (10) below.

CHOP BLOCK ON RUN (BY A LINEMAN)
(6) On a running play, A1, an offensive lineman, chops a defensive player after the defensive player has
been engaged by A2 (high or low), and the initial alignment of A2 is more than one position away from
A1. This rule applies only when the block occurs at a time when the flow of the play is clearly away
from A1.

Our two OLmen were adjacent so no foul.

I know you're joking, but I think it should be said, I'm sure they thought they were playing hard & dedicated from the start. But when Foster asked them to keep it up & that he'd play harder, they probably thought they could take it to another level if Arian can take it to another level. I doubt any of them were thinking Foster was half assing it.
