BUENO!
The Texans constantly running right at (or within a yard or two of) the one man on New England's DL we simply have no chance of being able to move. Wilfork is the guy you run away from. You make him chase the play, you don't run close enough for him to trip you with one of those big hands. Damn I wish we had drafted him when we had the chance.

On that note Foster this year looks more and more like just another guy playing in a system that he fits in but who isn't actually all that special. He looks like any one of those guys who followed Terrell Davis in Denver when in previous years he ran more like Davis himself. This is a concern because if this offense isn't clicking then Arian isn't clicking and tonight Arian wasn't clicking.

Brandon Harris wrapping his arms around Wes Welker, holding him for the duration of the play like that, and then acting like what he did wasn't necessarily a penalty. Jesus that guy sucks. I mean, he sucks in ways that Kareem Jackson didn't even get close to in 2010. Brandon Harris is clear evidence that the Texans will still keep a stiff around for a few years if they blew a high enough draft pick on the guy. I hope we never see this guy playing again. He makes me want to see Alan Ball get back ASAP and back when this season started I would have bet the farm that was something I'd never say. We need secondary help badly. I hope Routt can be salvaged and as I said Alan Ball has been much better than I expected. What baffles me is how our drafted CB's are all such ****. How can one franchise draft so many lousy corners?

Matt Schaub throwing that pick in the end zone. He stared down his receiver, he completely ignored every other option on the field including Arian Foster who was so open he might have run to the end zone without being touched. When the lights are brightest and the entire world is paying attention Matt is literally worthless. He threw for 527 yards in a game this year and set an NFL record. Yeah, well if memory serves David Carr tied a record for most consecutive completions in 2006 playing in this system. Getting excited about Schaub's statistics is like drafting David Klingler because he threw 962 touchdowns in three weeks while playing at UH in the Run-and-Shoot. Texans need a QB and Gary Kubiak is never going to admit it or do anything about it. Bank on that.

I don't share your view on Schaub or Kubes, but I agree with a lot of the other stuff.
Foster really was overused this year. 1 run for 15 yards coupled with a several 2 yard runs is not good. He used to be hard to bring down and now falls with every hit.

I dunno why we kept running at Wilfork, that never made sense. We were afraid of the right side of the line all night. And we never pitched it outside either.

Schaub has a bad habit of staring receivers down and trying to hit home runs. I just don't think he saw the FS, but he certainly didn't look at Foster who coulda scored on his own there.

I'm hoping this is a blueprint for Kubes to see what worked and didn't against the Pats. The players need to take a lot of blame though. We didn't execute at all.

HAHA na just my way of saying in short i put all the blame on kubiak, we all know he runs the offense, and this was the worst performance i have ever seen by the texans.

Errrr, repeat from the GB game......??? That is what worried me. We repeated a lot of the same mistakes from that game....

Yeah, but I think a few calls go our way (2 3rd down penalties that ended up leading to scores), a fumble bounces into KJ's hands and this would be a vastly different game.

I'm not saying that we played well, but we got behind early and then panicked.

(1) running up the middle when we were Wilfork's b*&^
(2) Schaub seemed to be off, as he is from time to time, but can't do it against elite offenses
(3) putting slow LB's on Hernandez
(4) see #1
(5) D stops NE 4 in a row and O gives us ZERO points, that's on Kubes and Schaub - snowball's chance in Hell of getting to the SB there

I personally thought that was a little ticky-tack. It was 3rd & 6. He gets 5 yards, he & Welker had arms all over each other. He actually got clear around 6 yards.

Technically yes that was holding, but really.... shouldn't have been called.

I'm still impressed with Harris, I think he's definitely better than McCain. He's got to grow up, real quick I agree with that. But Kubiak & Wade should have got him in the game earlier. McCain's been struggling all year.

Yeah. There were definitely failures at every level. Kubes definitely did not adjust (or gameplan). Wade stuck with man coverage and gave mismatches far too often. When we play them in the playoffs they'll have Gronkowski also.

The thing that really gets me is that our offense was terrible. We stuck with Foster for far too long, Tate and Forsett never got carries. We threw it to Jean and Martin when they have Jacobyesque hands. Walter didn't show up. OD was nonexistant.

AJ in the FB spot? Really? What made you think that would fool anyone.

Still, we have a few penalties go our way and this game wouldn't be so out of hand.

I would like to hear Kubiak's genius explanation for lining AJ up in the fullback spot. I really want to hear that. I mean there's gotta be some crazy stuff going on in that head. I know it's super easy to forgive, because it doesn't actually hurt anything, but for any coach to think that does anything but make him look insane is just puzzling.

Working?
I came away tonight with 3 main observations about our team:

1. This team cannot handle unpredictability. When we play against great QBs, game tape doesn't necessarily help you prepare. They are so great partially because they can change things on the fly. They become so difficult to predict, and we have no hope of stopping that. Brady, Rogers, Manning. Those guys have the ability to beat us on their own.
I think it's the same reason that we fold whenever a backup QB comes into the game unexpectedly. We haven't got the ability to adapt quickly, and we get picked apart.

2. Our team is regressing. This is not the same team we saw in the beginning of the season. We were blown away by New England and almost destroyed by Jacksonville and Detroit.

3. You will never be able to trust these Texans. I had a gut feeling tonight we'd be blown out, but I ignored it because I thought it was the demon from the 2-14 season tormenting me again. Turns out I should have paid attention. We went 7-9 and hopes were high. Then we went 2-14. This team, right when they look to be taking off, always seems to have a way of bringing expectations crashing back down.

1. its not unpredictability- man coverage with little pass rush against elite qbs & wr's/te's is a bad matchup for us

2. destroyed..... really? anybody can see we're not playing as well lately but that jags games was just the D giving up 4 or 5 huge plays that let them hang around

3. ah the capers era of 7+ yrs ago. great comparison. very relevant.

That was exactly the way I felt before the game. I just had that gut feeling but I kept trying to convince myself that the team would at least show some fight and not be outclassed.

1. Chad Henne is an elite QB to you now?

2. Yeah, we were lucky to get out of both of those games with a win. 4 to 5 huge plays to Justin Blackmon and Chad Henne and you just write it off? Maybe 1 huge play. 4 to 5? We weren't letting them hang around, we were clawing tooth and nail not to be embarrassed by the Jaguars. They had that game in hand and gave it away

3. You realize Kubiak inherited that team right? If you don't like that one, how about when we went 9-7 and everyone in Houston and the national media was talking about how we were ready to become an elite playoff contender and then we barely hit 6-10 the next season?

I told my neighbor about an hour before kickoff we were going to get destroyed. Sucks we did. I call that feeling 2-14 syndrome. Actually, maybe is should be called 6-10 syndrome.

We finish 3-0 all is forgiven. I feel a losing streak just started.

Matt Schaub - way to show up in primetime. Funny how you have your worst games against the best qb's. Insecurity much? And after ESPN wrote a great article about how you are fighting to be mentioned with the elite qbs you performed like that? You better nut up because in the playoffs it aint gonna get any easier.

Arian Foster - The next time you bow in the endzone why don't you do when your team is still in the game and not getting bent over by a donkey. Stop telling Kubiak you can keep on playing you and overloading you with carries. Tell him about Ben Tate. He is not a threat to you.

Tightends - I saw Casey. Where was Daniels?

WRs - Schaub was having a terrible night but you need to catch the ball. I am looking at you Kevin Walter. (This comment excludes Andre Johnson)

JJWatt- You are a great player. But the greatest players show up in primetime. Patriots did a good job of taking you out of the game. I don't know if I should blame you or Wade.

The rest of the DL line - Just FYI there was a game on last night.

Connor Barwin - I heard you were still on the team and showing up to practice. How about showing up to the game or cleaning out your locker?

LB's - getting exhausted.

Kareem Jackson - Did you find out that your girl friend was cheating on you? Death in the family? Your head was not in the game.

DB's - You remind me of 2010 DB squad.

Kubiak - Did you know you have a player named Ben Tate. Use him. Over and over and over. He needs to starting getting the ball and give Arian a rest.

Wade - Hey evil genius defensive mastermind. You secondary sucks. Fix it. BTW, with all the great QBs coming into the league and it being a QB friendly league, you may want to invest in the secondary. And you star player got taken out of the game last night. You couldn't find a way to get him in a better position to get Brady?

Gimmicks - This team is full of them! From Shaun Cody and those videos, to the "ninja assasian", to "Bulls on Parade", to the letterman jackets, Bob McNair knows how to sell a gimmick. How about less gimmicks and just focusing on winning a Superbowl. Because if you didn't notice, the Texans keep getting drilled by teams and players that have them.

Respect - You don't get with a winning record. You get it with a Superbowl. And you certainly don't get it when you constantly choke on prime time games. No Monday Night Football for this team.

To the players that showed up -

Andre Johnson - Thank you. For everything.

Donnie Jones - I hope you didn't break your foot on the ball the number of times you had to punt.

The Waterboy - That was some high quality H2O.

Ben Tate - You better get in Kubiaks good graces. This team needs you.

This is the end of my rant. Still a Texans fan. But when your team screws up they need to know and fix it and put it behind them. The Colts better be ready to take a butt kickin like we did last night.

Matt Schaub played a horrible first half. Instead of taking what the defense was giving him which was plenty of open receivers underneath for chunk yardage he went for the home run on the first couple drives. I guess he felt he needed to air it out to compete with Brady or something when he should have been playing smart instead. Once we were down a few scores we just went in to a huge tail spin.

And I was certainly scratching my head at the play calling. One thing is for sure, we didn't tip our hand on what we intend to do in the playoffs....lol. Unless that plan is to lose miserably.

I disagree with those two points. The secondary is blowing because apparently only JJ Watt is receiving a paycheck. They were constantly double and triple teaming him, and he got to Brady (albeit too late). WTF is the rest of our front 7 then?

Who cares about gimmicks. You win, they're great, you lose, certainly not why we lost. Though I hope they burn the jackets.

Or Hell, if they like them that much take them away and make them earn them back, we'll pretend we're a college team.

I honestly thought we were going to see a beat down blow out, like the Ravens game.

& we did. I was just wrong about who was going to be doing the beat down. I thought we'd be the one getting to the QB, batting down balls, & befuddling their offense. But they out-Texaned us.

They flipped that script like a Rosencopter.

I think Schaub just didn't see the safety who came across and got the pick. Could be several reasons he didn't throw it to Foster, but he obviously should have in hind-sight. I think he stares down the #1 receiver (for the play called) sometimes, but I'm pretty sure he didn't see the safety coming across or he wouldn't have tried that.

PS-I just realized you were'nt just talking about that play. I guess I was still thinking about it.

The rest of your rant I can get behind. This... He was beating the crap out of Tom Brady. Didn't record a sack or a pass defensed, but he had a good game against a good QB. The man needs help. A back end that can cover man to man for 2 seconds would have been good last night.

All this talk about elite QBs beating man to man.... I'm just not buying it. Chad Henne can beat man to man if we can't cover for 2 seconds.

I guess it depends on the definition of "cover," because I thought a lot of those guys were covered. That's how an elite QB beats a blitz; he completes quick passes to receivers even if they are covered. Other than that, a lot of guys just looked like clutzes out there last night--like KJ trying to recover the fumble and several guys trying to make tackles. It's like they forgot to put their seriousness caps on under their helmets.

Good rants. We need to get it our of our systems and be pragmatic about this team in the playoffs. To much blind homerism and koolaide baths around here lately. This team has some issues that elite teams will exploit to dominate.

The only two players that looked like they showed up last night was JJ Watt and Andre Johnson. No surprise there.

But from coaching - all three phases - down to players, the rest of the team has been watching too much hype on NFLN & ESPN and believing it. They strut around when they have not EARNED the right to strut.

They have earned nothing but a ticket to the playoffs. That, in and of itself, is not an accomplishment. Regular season is always just a means to an end. They had better figure it out, or they will be one & done come January. I guess another AFC South "championship" banner is something to look forward to...but nothing to brag about.

I was worried about our secondary.... forgot about our pass rush (frek'n Titans game)

I never imagined their twenty whatever ranked defense was going to stop us from scoring or winning the TOP.
