This is the Packers game 2.0

Mental error after mental error and self inflicted wounds. The opposition is beating them and they're also killing themselves. I'm becoming extremely worried about Kubiak's ability to prepare his team for big games against elite competition.

They just aren't ready for the better teams.

Just now, huh?

Bad things happen when you get out coached. They are killing us by exploiting match ups while we continue to run against eight in the box...

Don't match up with elite O, spread us out and tear us apart. Then our O can't keep up. Denver or NE in playoffs is a bad matchup

We have to win out now. If we do, we will get a rematch at home. That game will be all that matters.

This goes way beyond a "matchup problem". The Texans are crapping the bed and are doing a fantastic job killing themselves. This is a snowball game.

We had a better team last year other than Schaub going down. I'm starting to wonder if it will take another year to replace our cap casualties from this past off season and get our young receivers going.

This is all on coaching. We can't put LBs on Aaron Hernandez. That's common sense... Man coverage does NOT work against elite QBs unless we can get pressure and sacks. So far no sacks. Too dependent on JJ Watt. Schaub needs to settle down and throw some to Daniels. Run game looked good first two runs but now we are getting nothing. Pass and run protection is not showing up. Defense has stepped a little in getting those punts but the offense needs to take advantage. Fresh half, if the Pats can score 21 in a half we can score just as much.

2nd and long run the ball.

nothing has changed with kubiak and schaub.

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kubiak and schaub will never be ready for prime time because they are not prime time players at their position.

Matt is Matt not in the elite class of QBs.
Doesn't seem to perform in big games. Not a good sign for the playoffs.
Doesn't see field like Brady. Seems to get in his mind he is going to throw to a certain receiver and then stares him down.
No 2nd receiver doesn't help.

Belichick better coach than Kubiak but Brady sure helps.

We need to hope someone else beats the Pats in the playoffs for us.
Maybe this game will help us in the playoffs if we have the opportunity to meet again in the playoffs.

Hope we get out of the game healthy.

I think we would have probably finished with a better record had Schaub not been injured but I doubt we get any closer to the Super Bowl with him than we did with Yates. Schaub just plays like crap in high-pressure big stage games and the playoffs are all high-pressure big stage games.

The postseason is where Schaub will fold like a cheap suit. I wonder how long it will take McNair to force Gary to go get a different QB? It only took him 4 years to realize that Gary was being overly loyal to his friend the DC.

That's what I think is in the back of the minds of the entire team.

I think they had this idea that IF things went our way tonight, great. If not, let's not get devastated about it (Like I am right now). LOL.

Look! Kubiak swallowed his pride.

A RB who wants a new contract. What a sight!

Lol.. Gruden just hit the nail on the head and even said it... it's coaching.

This loss is squarly on the coaching staff... one team ran a game plan designed around attacking the teeth of a team's strengths and the other team developed a game plan to ram it right up the rear of a team's weaknesses. Guess who got their ish pushed? Gary should be ashamed. With that game plan this team never stood a chance.. even if they played their A game they still would've lost by double digits, the fact that they didn't is the reason why a double digit loss turned into a embarrasing blowout laugher.

I don't know what to think...

I've always teetered on schaub as a top qb and maybe we can win in spite of kubiak...

But I'm doubting both those ideas right now.

But I do think if kubiak had a better qb he could do more with his offense.

Can we once and for all put an end to this schaub as an elite qb non sense?

He's not elite. That much should be obvious.

75% coaching, 25% Schaub getting jittery.

Everyone at the bar was laughing every time I would call out the running play on 2nd or 3rd and long. It's so typical Kubiak. He does not know how to adjust a gameplan against a better coach.

Take it easy with those words of wisdom. Schaub is more than capable, remember

The Texans aren't ready for prim time. Prim would've kicked their sissy asses tonote.

As a die hard Texans fan, I want my team to win a Super Bowl. Once I started to seriously doubt that Kubiak was the guy to get them there, I had a choice to make - pump sunshine about the coach, or make noise to get a new one. I'm still making noise to get a new one someday, because I just don't see him being the answer. One day, enough fans will come to realize the same. Until then, I'll just keep pointing it out like you have here.

For all the guys that want to know why we don't get the national respect that other teams get, this game is a classic example why.

He's not elite. That much should be obvious.

This game doesn't have crap to do with Schaub and nobody claimed he was a "elite QB".. even if he played like a "elite QB" Houston still would've lost. This game is strictly about coaching and what happened between Wednesday and Friday .

I'm the Gloomy Gus around here and y'all need to get off my turf!

To be realistic, this is all weaknesses we've already know about. The strength of our defense is the front seven and with Cushing and Reed out, we're not as effective. The defensive backfield is weak and its getting picked apart by an elite QB who is getting time to throw. The right side of our O'line is weak and became weaker when Caldwell went down. Jones is doing his best, but he's a rookie who's getting used by a pro-bowl veteran. We don't have a true second wide receiver.

There's nothing in the previous paragraph that we didn't know going into this game. The difference is the Patriots are a very good team that can expose all these weaknesses at once. That's why they are Super Bowl Champions.

We've taken a step forward from last year already but there is still more we can accomplish this year. Bring on the Colts and lets take our frustration out on them.

Bob, force anybody out? Seriously? Do you not know whoe the head coach is of the Houston Texans? Incase you forgot, he is the guy who is 58-51 in 7 seasons and went 6-10 and still did not get fired.

Schaub will be this teams QB for the next 4 years...

Not being funny, but do you really think we'll beat the Colts? Either home or away?

Really?

Man what is that sound I hear?

Freaking bandwagoners jumping off the wagon!

When did a rookie QB turn into Tom Brady?

I hope you enjoyed that ride on the wagon. You can still return your #99 jersey with a receipt.

Yes.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say the two losses this year were aberrations.

Comes down to one thing for me: You don't get penalized on third down and extend their drives, maybe those games are within reach.

You know its bad when you lose to a bunch of unknowns whose names the announcers can't even pronounce... and they laugh about it!

I really think the number one the scoreboard is more of a reflection of how a couple plays go the wrong way for you and you're in a huge hole. We made some stupid plays and if a fumble bounces back to KJ, this game would have been a lot different.

Nothing changes next week. Andrew Luck is not as good as Brady. Go in there and hit him and frustrate him, but don't get penalized on 3rd down.

I feel the same way. Probably why I still believe this team is elite. Maybe the QB is not elite but I've always felt like our elite players were just at other positions.

If Kareem recovers a simple fumble, that P.I call is not called then I do feel like this is a different game. The defense held up for a long time after that, but it's hard to get motivated as a defensive player when your offense isn't moving. Eventually they were just going to fold. Always happens when a offense can't score sometimes it seems like the defense just loses motivation.

The defense held in there for a while. Had it not been for those two unlucky plays then who knows?

Good question.

If so, then the Texans are pretty much ready for prime time based on last year playoffs.

"Based on last year's playoffs".. How much can you really base on last year's playoffs? Their only win came against a rook and when they had to step up in competition they shot themselves in the foot... sound familar? If anything last year's playoffs has been a precurser to what we've seen this season. Feast on the bottom feeders and have a inability to get out of own way against vet talent. This team is way beyond judging ourselfs against up and coming wild card caliber teams. We need to start K.O.ing teams in our own weight class if we want to win a chip and tonight we got a weggie and locked inside our locker left to beg for the custodian to walk by.

Not sure what game you are talking about?

They almost beat the Ravens. You make it sound like they were blown out and embarrassed when it was anything but. A few mistakes by a rookie 3rd string QB cost the Texans a trip to the AFCC game.

Exactly, takes you back to the penalties against Green Bay. Both of those actually came on 4th down--Posey lining up offsides and Barwin leaping. Both of those drives eventually lead to touchdowns.

Tonight, they came on 3rd down. The early holding on Harris when they got a stop and the terrible PI call on Manning on the deep throw on 3rd and long.

I'm not saying these penalties are the SOLE reason they lost both of these games, but it's what you and hradhak alluded to. A couple plays here and there change the course of the game.

Then again, sometimes you just find a way to make those plays. Or in this case, avoid making stupid plays that cost you.

Tonight doesn't change the fact that this team is capable of winning its last three. It's a tough task, but I think they're more than capable of completing it.

Tonight's loss was on coaching. Plain and simple.

Team wasn't focused, they made mistakes, they got down early and the Patriots never looked back.

Simple as that.

Let's say Kareem recovers that fumble.

Then what?

Is our offense going to do what they failed to do at any meaningful point in the game? Go on a long TD scoring drive?

You can what if all you want to...i can just as easily what if about half of our games this year and make us 7-6...

But I won't because we won them. We made more plays and had more things go right.

Tonight, we got out asses kicked. Own that.

There's no question we got our asses kicked. I think his point is still valid. We let the game slip away and then panicked. There's no question though that we have to play better. The refs are always gonna rob us a few times a game. Nonetheless, you gotta make plays. We didn't execute, but those little things early on set the tone for the game and we pretty much mailed it in at half time.

Exactly. I don't think any of us here are saying that if those plays don't happen, we win the game.

I think it's more like trying to highlight certain plays that dictated the way this game was going to go.

I believe it's also fair to say those few plays tell the story for the game too.

Well just earlier you were what-IFing away our wins so I am surprised.

I didn't say we deserved to win or anything, just that not even luck was on their side today. Those two plays (The TERRIBLE P.I Call and the Kareem Jackson fumble) made it 21-0 and that is pretty big.

I'm not going to fret too much about it though. 11-2, most of us would have taken this before the season.
