was sort of hoping Martin would not have a nickname that had anything to do with K(anything) Mart.

I noticed that other teams are having rookie camps.

Any info on why the Texans aren't having a camp for the rooks.

If its been posted elsewhere I missed it.

The Texans will have 10 OTAs: May 21-22, May 24, May 29-31 and June 4-7. Their mandatory three-day mini-camp will be June 12-14.

Rookies, including eight draft picks and a reported 21 undrafted free agents, will report to Reliant on May 13.

“We’ll spend that whole net week with them preparing them for OTAs, so we’ll get a good five days in,” Kubiak said. “What I do at the back end of the OTAs with our mini-camp is I like to kind of dedicate that to our younger players, now that they know what we’re doing. They’re up to speed offensively and defensively, and our scouts and everybody in the organization can get a better feel of evaluating who can come help us come fall time.”

Kubiak said the first thing the Texans do with rookies is dissect how far along they are physically.

“All players are different,” Kubiak said. “There are some guys way ahead, and some guys need to really start from scratch. That’s our job as coaches right now, to figure that out as they come in. You’ve got to make sure that you don’t just throw those guys right in with your vets. I mean, our guys work, boy. I tell you, Cedric works the heck out of ‘em, and we’ve got a team that’s really impressive out there right now, in great physical condition.

“So it’ll be a rude awakening for ‘em, but I think that’s what that first week is for. They kind of figure it out. We get ‘em in the locker room, they get to go sit down next to Brian Cushing, J.J. Watt, Matt Schaub and get all that stage fright out of the way and kind of start to fit in, and then we get into OTAs where they can relax a little bit and start to figure out what’s going on so that they’re ready to compete once training camp comes.”

If this is not the first time we went big for linemen I would be suprised, That being said I am exstatic about a 300+ pound lineman and also about Posey, better yet the whole damn draft went good for me lets get ready for some football.

I agree, so in order to rectify this, we need a new nickname for him pronto!
I recommend: Steel Blue Light Special!

Kmart was the first retailer to introduce the blue light special, so make it Texan and voila! A new nickname! :D

Huh?

Duane Brown 320LBs
Wade Smith 310LBs
Antoine Caldwell 311LBs
Rashad Butler 317LBs

Only Chris Myers was under the 300LBs range(289LBs), and even Eric Winston and Mike Brisiel were at 300LBs.

I don't know. Maybe should have left #59 and #90 out of the equation for a couple of years. Not sure I can adjust to Marcilus having Meco's #. Just not right. Think I would have perferred seeing him with #90.

Who the hell is Loiseau?

well... linebackers and DEs have to have numbers in the 50s and 90s.. and guess what? 59 and 90 were the only 2 numbers left...

of the two numbers i would have rather seen mercilus taken 90 just because thats a nice pass rusher number.. 59 would have just been given to another lb soon enough..

I'm with ya G-ma. I think Demeco will be remembered as an all time great Texan. Not only because of his on field play, but his leadership skills, and his involvement in charities, and the community. He was like our version of Dre on defense IMO.

Mario was good while he was here, and I admired his play. I was never as big of fan of his, like I am with Demeco though.

UDFA pickup from a small school in Massachusetts I think. Supposed to be a ferocious special teamer, guy who might be able to fill a 2 down run stopping LBer role.
Wonder if he could also develope into a FB if only in a backup role ?
We had a UDFA LB (from Wake Forest I believe) here a few years ago who they were trying to convert into a FB. The more the positions he can play, the more chance he could make the roster.
