So are we going to get any good free agents?

Or are we going to build completely through the draft? I just HATE Jacoby hasn't been cut like most here, but we need to at least keep the O-Line together and add a reliable reciever on O. This is getting depressing, and will get worse once Peyton winds up a Titan.

Dude we can't even resign our own Oline what makes you think we can sign anyone else.

I'm so confused how people have so much rep around here when they are nothing more than reactionary fans who won't even let the FA period settle a bit before they freak out.

Reviewing many mock boards, it appears top 4 WRs Blackmon, Floyd, Wright and Hill may be gone by #26. If you let JJ go (and I'm cool with that) we need two WR in draft. With our new needs (as of this moment) Center, OLB, RG and a back up RT, it may be taxing the system to draft two starters if you let JJ go. If we could get one of top 3, I'd be okay with AJ, Walter and draft pick although I see Walter as WR#3.

Even with Chicago locking up Brandon Marshall? They were expected to take a WR in the draft, were they not?

Yes, we will. And they will be our own free agents.

In free agency, sometimes the best free agents you can acquire are the free agents that were already on your roster from last year.

My hope is that all our free agents (at least the ones the Texans desire to have back) are out seeking better deals than what the Texans can give them...then they see that the money from a new team is either equal to, or only slightly more than, the numbers we offered them. At that point, we have a good shot at keeping that free agent on our roster.

But if we lose guys, we will have the draft. We found Arian Foster as an UNDRAFTED free agent, so it's possible to find good players out there.

No need to panic. You won't gain anything from worrying.

NO! We did our grocery shopping last season.

Do people understand what a budget is anymore? This just in, the Texans are up against with regards to the Cap.

You can't buy a Porterhouse with a hamburger budget. You can't buy Champagne on a Beer budget, etc.

Another thing:

These top free agents that are flying off the board...they cost a LOT OF MONEY.

So we're nearing the stage of free agency when teams have blown the vast majority of their cash on one or two "top tier" free agents. And they have to re-sign some of their own free agents too! We're not the only ones sitting still and watching things from a distance.

Once the big money grabbers are gone, teams will settle into a groove and spend very wisely and show restraint. This is where, IMO, teams begin to offer money to their own guys that they know another team cannot match or exceed. And if a team DOES snatch away one of our guys for more money than he's reasonably worth...then one or two of their guys will be available because they cannot afford it all, which means teams will spend wisely and be judicious all the way around.

This initial barrage of free agency is always helter skelter like this. It's fast and furious and you always see the premium guys go first. The remaining 26 teams or so...they're hanging back in the alleys and waiting to emerge after the other 6 teams have left the scene.

Haven't seen the Patriots do anything. Haven't seen the Steelers do anything. Haven't seen the Giants do anything. Texans have done nothing yet. The top teams don't need to blow gobs of money on a guy like Garcon or Vincent Jackson or Mario Williams. They already have a great roster as proven by their 2011 season.

Everybody needs to relax. Drink a Dr. Pepper or something.

The temptation here, IMO, is to see BIG NAMES scrolling across the bottom ticker on NFLN or ESPN...and we think, "Holy crap! The Redskins just got Pierre Garcon! OMG! Vincent Jackson went to the Bucs?!?! For $55 million?!?!?" and suddenly we think our team is getting worse and teams like the Bucs and Redskins are supposedly getting instantly better.

Let it all settle, let's get into the 2012 reg season and see who is better and who overspent. Vincent Jackson is good, but there is a history of injuries AND a bit of instability in his attitude toward authority. And now he's been paid mega bucks to play for the Bucs who still have problems all along their roster. Let's see if he shows he's worth that big deal.

Hell, Fisher paid Innegan $50 MILLION! to be a cheap shot, slow, nickel CB at best. What a stoopid move by Fisher. $50 freaking million. LOL. Do we want to be THAt team? I don't. Rick will handle his business. I am sure of it.

You mean like the Eagles did, or the Redskins have in the past? Are you sure that is the model you want to follow?

While it was fun last year being linked to lots of big name DB's, that's not what the Texans should be doing every year. As everybody can see, big name free agents cost big time money.

I will expect the Texans to sign a few guys for depth purposes but nobody that costs more than a million or two against the cap if that.

i'll feel a lot better if we retain myers (most improved lineman we've ever had) and biscuit. after that, it's whatever. i'd like to get another WR, but i'm pretty confident we'll address that in the draft.

I'll be happy as long as we address our O-line in some way. I'm OK with the idea of replacing one starter, but trying to replace 3 worries me.

This is why I'm still chilling out about all of this. I really think we'll be okay once all the hub-bub slows down and the affordable players are left. I really do think we'll end up with Myers and Brisel. No Mario but we'll survive.

The waiting game is how the GOOD teams play the free agency game...

I will be happy with our FA period if we can get Myers and Brisiel back. That would allow us to go after a WR and OLB in the first 2 or 3 rounds of the draft.

I am getting furious. How in the hell are the Cowboys and Redskins making these signings (Kyle Orton and Pierre Garcin) and yet out cap situation is so bad we can't sign anybody?!?!? Something smells fishy.

I am getting a little vibe that Dollar Bob has returned due to likely record breaking season ticket purchases and knows he can just sell us on "next year" once again. He made his big splash last year and now can wait another 3-5 years before he makes his next big splash.

Am I missing something?!? We release Winston, we keep Jacoby, I guess we are letting Myers, Briesel, and Mario walk, meanwhile the teams that just got slammed by the Commissioner are signing guys like Garçon (who would definitely help us as a #2 WR) and Orton (who would be a great backup plan if/when Schaub goes down with his yearly injury). Wtf?!?
