An honest assessment from a diehard Ravens fan

Daravenator

The two glaring reasons the Texans lost were Jacoby and Yates. And in my eyes, Yates gets a pass. He never played with a lead, he was under a lot of mental pressure playing in his first road playoff game, and he was playing against a good defense (although at times it did not look like it) at their house.

Had Schaub been healthy, I think the Texans would have won by 10.

No matter. Foster is a beast, as is AJ. Your defense is about as tough as they come. All-in-all, Houston stood tall today. I know losing sucks (I've been there three years straight and may be there again next Sunday), but for the Texans first-ever post-season, they made the rest of the NFL stand up and take notice.

:bravo:

That's pretty much my assessment.

Blah, blah, mf'n blah, blah

Tell me something I don't already know.

I think the Texans played better than the Ravens today but 4 turnovers is impossible to overcome. Good luck next week against the Pats and I hope Ed Reed is able to play.

Thanks bro. Good luck in bean town

Close to a perfect assessment of the game. We were the much better defense today, if B-more fans can't admit it they're just as drunk as we are. With Schaub under center and no pressure we easily make big drives. Schaub is clutch without pressure (as are most qb's) and would have won by 11-13.

Bottom line, we lost. We gave up the ball 4 times and lost. The L is the only stat that matters.

I agree with you. It sux ball sax right now, but at least we made a game out of it after falling behind so far. Damn Jacoby Jones.

Pretty chicken**** to be that rude. Daravenator has been making some good posts and is being very gracious in victory. Try to show some in defeat.

I think the Ravens D should get some major props though. They held onto a 4 point lead for like...what more than half the game? Applause for that. Of course with Matt it would have been different but next year I guess. Just hope we don't run into Haynesworth who always falls on the guy and hurts him somehow.

I'm pissed and not in the mood to be gracious. Now if you can't understand that, no one can.

GL next week and I also hope Reed comes back healthy for you. The guy is an NFL legend.

I have watched Reed since The U. Although he may have lost a step this season, and his tackling wasn't up to par due to his neck injury, he has a nose for the ball. He is a sure-fire first ballot lock for Canton. I hope he can come back healthy for next week more for his sake. I know he wants a ring, and although even winning next week is no guarantee, you certainly won't get one if you never make it to the SB.

Right on man! Thanks.

Go Pats! :jam: ;)

I think the Texans had a performance in the playoffs (vs Cincinnati & at Baltimore) that leaves me feeling like we'll be back in the near future so I'm not anywhere near as upset by this game as I might have been. When you get down to your third QB you're obviously going to suffer. That he was a rookie just made things worse.

We'll be back next year. I'm sure of it.

I can understand that right now. Trust me we aren't here to annoy and rub it in.

I think many Ravens fans actually LIKE the Texans as a team and after this game we'll like them a lot more. They are built the same as us. Play great Defense, run the ball, pass when required but lay it all on the line.

I personally will be cheering for the Texans, when they aren't playing the Ravens of course.

In my book your whole Defense "Played like a Raven" today.

I can't even fault TJ as a rookie for most of his INT's. Webb has shown this year he is one of the best cover corners in the league, and Ed Reed is...well Ed Reed. He got baited into some bad throws. Experience will eliminate some of those, not all because even the Top QB's get baited into bad throws.

Ok, If I was rude to him I'm sorry and to g.black - sorry for being personal.

However, that first post is how I felt - so that is what I typed.

That's cool. I am disappointed that the Texans lost, too. But that does not mean it is OK for us to take that out on other posters, especially visitors that are behaving in a gracious manner.

Thank you for doing the right thing here.

:tiphat:

I agree. The only thing that really sucks is our season is over. I really enjoyed watching our defense play ball. Watt, Barwin, Reed, Cushing.

Now there is an emptiness inside.

Yes, I gave you negative rep for that post. I chose to express my dislike for it that way instead of replying in here and talking to you like you were an angry baby (because I've "posted while pissed" myself). I personally don't value the rep system very much so if that made you feel bad then I'm sorry. I thought it was preferable to talking to you about it in the thread. Guess not.

This team isn't going anywhere. The good thing is that we have one hole to fill this offseason. Other than that we are building depth and adding to our strengths. A lot of poise was shown by the entire team today. (Sans the guy who tried to field that punt)...

I feel better about this team than I have about any team at any point in Houston football history. Anyone remember when we lost to the Sonics in 93? The feeling you had going away from that series, like we have a shot to do some great things... That is what I walk away from this year. We have so many young players on both sides of the ball... The teens will be our decade, mark my words.

I'm over that too Herv-I deserve it anyway. I'm signing off. I'll remember to not post when angry in the future.

It just goes to show two things .

1. You have to play clean in the playoffs especially on the road .

2. The Texans' with a rookie QB were almost good enough to overcome a killer mistake and several others .

The good news is we are in the tweeking mode and not in the building mode .

Ugh the only downside is that all Houston sports fans have to look forward to is the Rockets getting yet another 14 pick (or sneaking into the 8th spot) and the Astros stinking it up.....looong time till football season again

Hey! I got a great idea! Let's hammer on each other! That should make the offseason go faster.

It sure is a helluva lot nicer to be "what if"ing after a close loss in the divisional round of the playoffs than not being in the playoffs at all or getting blown out, like it was looking in the 1st qtr.
I'm very proud of my team and what was accomplished this year.

I don't watch basketball anymore. I quit after the officiating got to be the worst of all of the pro sports. I got tired of shelling out money for tickets and watching zebras make "amazing" calls night after night. I was a huge baseball fan growing up but us moving to the AL has kind of taken that passion out of me. I'm looking forward to the Dynamo though!

Some people need an honest assessment of their lives if their team losing a football game affects them to the point of being rude and generally not a nice person. Pssst.

It's just a game. The sun will still come up tomorrow. There are more important things in life.

Imo, dont even sweat it. Who the eff cares about your response? It was nothing out of line and Im sure the Ravens fan read it and probably expected a few of those to be honest anyway.

You should have seen what it was like after the Ravens beat the Steelers the second time this year. :roast: The comments were, well, brutal.

Congrats to the Ravens for the win.
I am more mad at our team than the Ravens.
Does that make me an arrogant Texan fan?

Thanks to all the Raven fans who showed up to talk football including the ngata guy who created that thread. You guys have been a pleasure to have around. You guys represent well. I hope to see y'all come back from time to time.

Go Ravens!

I think the Baltimore@Houston game next year will definitely be in primetime.
