Texans vs Bungles next week in Wild Card Playoff

Tony Dungy and group just predicted a Cincy win against us. What do they know? Said we aren't playing well and Bengals should have a fairly easy time.

Did you not just giggle when they did that? I mean, it was so funny.

The template on us needs to be broken and re-cast. Winning in convincing fashion vs Bengals will do that, IMO.

I don't blame him and I trust that it is his honest opinion. This game could go either way, but I'm hoping the Texans can squeak out a win, even if it's only a one point victory.

Interesting note about the Bengals: they are 0-7 against playoff teams this year (Den, SF, Hou, Pit x2, Bal x2) and 9-0 vs. teams not heading to the playoffs (Cle x2, Buf, Jac, Ind, Sea, Ten, Ari, Stl).

Everyone is going to pick against us because we have a 3 game losing streak.

Yep. The main NFLN crew, their "A" team of Mooch, Baldinger, Deion, etc., seem to analyze and notice the finer points of the game.

The "B" team of Dukes and that weird white dude with spikey hair who talks out of the side of his mouth, they are so weak on analysis.

The CBS main crew and the NFLN main crew, IMO, are the best at calling things correctly. Everyone else seems lost and grasping at straws. Lazy. Scoreboard watchers.

I think I just saw on TV that the Texans would play NE if we win the wildcats game. Not Balt. Did I confuse this?

essentially they're the 08 Dolphins. beat all the teams they should and none they shouldn't.

the lowest remaining seed will play the Patriots. so if the Texans win then the other game will either be the 4th or 5th seed, meaning the Texans will play the Ravens no matter what.

If Houston wins they will face Baltimore in the divisional round. If Cincinnati wins they will face New England. New England cannot play the lowest remaining seed (Houston) and Baltimore can't play the highest remaining seed (Cincinnati).

I think you saw what I saw, which would suggest the winner of Hou/Cincy would play NE, because it was laid out like a bracket... However, under New Englend it says they'll play the lowest seed that advances, and under Baltimore it says they'll play the Highest seed that advances... Texans would be highest seed to advance if they win, meaning they'd play Baltimore... If Cincy wins, seeing they're the #6 seed, they'd get New England...

Nah. I figured someone...Patrick, Dungy, or Harrison...would EVENTUALLY mention the Texans sandbagged 90% of today's game and was a 2-pt. conversion away from beating Titans starters.

But no, that wasn't important information when considering our chances next weekend. No mention of the Ravens beating the Bengals today. No analysis regarding the Bengals' loss record vs playoff teams compared to their record vs non-playoff teams. That would be too hard for them to utilize and discuss.

When asked which AFC South is the best, Rodney Harrison chose his old team, the Patriots. Shocker!

Boomer Esiason, today, emphatically picked his old team the Bengals to beat the Ravens.

It's just funny to watch these guys go goo-goo ga-ga over their old teams. Sentimental fools.

Yes, our game might be a close one. But those two guys on NBC acted like we already lost it. LOL.

essentially they're the 08 Dolphins. beat all the teams they should and none they shouldn't.

We had a season or two similar to that. Our wins were vs normal teams and our losses were vs great teams.

A few posters pointed it out, and it was a good predictor (most of the time) of how we'd do in upcoming games.

Makes sense. Thanks to all for the clarification.

Dungy and another guy on NBC pregame show, just now, said the Texans have lots of problems on defense...look shaky...and that the Bengals should win.

It's as if they didn't realize we played 2nd and 3rd stringers on BOTH sides of the ball.

These guys on TV stage sets, they're not even analyzing things. Texans lost today, so that means Bengals will win.

Amazing.

Dungy hates Houston for some reason. We never beat him but he has an ax to grind.

We lost today because this was a non important game to us. It looked like preseason out there today. Seriously, who goes for two in that situation?

We are going to kill the Bengals.

Yep. Like I said, we stand an excellent chance of winning our very first playoff game. It's the second one I'm worried about.

We are just going to have to take a deep deep breath and keep telling ourselves we are not the Oilers, we can make it out of the second round of the playoffs.

Only the Bengals, Titans and Raiders remain eligable for the 6th seed. With the Chargers beating down on the Raiders, that would eliminate the Raiders and Titans. Which means we get the Bengals next week.

So, who's the QB for the Texans I wonder. Delhome or TJ? TJ beat the Bengals at their place in a very meaningful game for both teams.

TJ starts, Jake finishes.

The time & date of the playoff game is going to be announced during halftime of the Dallas/Giants game

Why do you say that?

I think that Gary might just be intent on starting TJ regardless of his injury status and inexperience, but I think that TJ won't be up to the pressure of a playoff game and that Gary will have to call on Jake to try to salvage a win.

Pundits will observe that the Bengals have a rookie QB too. That is true in the strictest sense of the word, but I don't consider Dalton a rookie any more, just as I wouldn't call JJ Watt or Brooks Reed rookies. They have all seen enough NFL snaps in my view, while TJ hasn't.

I truly believe that our best bet in the playoffs is Jake plus our running game plus our defense. Obviously just my opinion.

The last time I saw Jake in the playoffs he threw 5 int's.

Now he is 36 and this is the first action he has seen in a year. I like Yates' arm, and his mobility over whatever Jake has left in the tank.

Our first playoff game! Should be a memorable day. Time to get behind the Texans Houston! Forget about the loosing streak and all that. This is a new season and Reliant is going to be rocking!!! Go Texans!

Another guy's opinion. Fair enough.

Some fans prefer the QB with the mobility and the arm over the one with playoff and Super Bowl experience who has lost a step. I prefer the latter, but we will see what Kubiak does next week.

We may not have a choice depening on Yates status. Yates already beat the Bungles this year in Cincy, so I'm not too worried about his ability to play. We need to play all 4 quarters though and not start out slow like we did last game

Can I talk you into to taking down the clutch city avatar?

It is what it is. At the end of the day we may be talking about two bowls of poo.

I don't know.

I haven't contemplated the implications of leaving it up or taking it down.

Your thoughts? Anybody else's thoughts?

I'd like to think we're clutch when it counts.

Why take it down? It's a good label. Clutch City!

The Texans lost 3 games in a row to end the season. On the surface, that doesn't look good. But if you look at this in context, it's not as dire as it seems. This team clinched early, in week 14. I try not to look at the Texans through homer glasses. However, when I ask myself "In what aspect are the Bengals better than the Texans?", I come up empty.

Running attack? The Bengals are OK. The Texans have one of the best in the league. Passing offense? Again, Bengals are OK with Dalton, Green, and Gresham. The Texans should be fine with Yates, AJ, and Daniels. Not to mention one of the best pass catching RBs in the NFL in Arian Foster.

Defense? The Bengals are solid. The Texans defense is better. Better in points allowed, yardage yielded, turnovers forced. Better. The Bengals are a good team. Worthy of that last playoff berth.

The Texans are just better.

It kinda pisses me off that all the talking heads are saying we were lucky in beating Cincy and keep pointing to the sack/strip of Dalton as the game sealer. No mention, whatsoever, of how lucky Cincy got when AF fumbled deep in our own territory. Now I'm pissed at myself for allowing myself to get pissed at talking head blow hards! SANTA MARIA!!!
