AJ has Mild Hamstring Strain

MRI reveals "mild" hamstring strain. AJ is day to day, according to Sports Radio 610 text alert.

Just got it myself! Now...take it slow, and dont go crazy w the all out Deep routes when he gets back on the field.

The next time we AJ will be in limited action against Tennessee, or the playoffs. TJ's job just got a little harder.

Save him for the playoffs!!!!

Seriously, in 9 seasons, he's never even sniffed the playoffs. Let him rest and get ready for the biggest game of his life. I have a gut feeling that he would not only rise to the occasion, but carry this offense on his back if he had to.

Seriously, this. No freaking point in having AJ play another snap before our home playoff game. We don't need him at all, just win 1 more game and we lock up the division. No need to risk him for the last 4 games, he's too important and we need him to play against the Steelers, Ravens or Jets in the first round. Save him until the games matter. If we drop 3 without him and are playing for the division on Jan 1, then play him, but I don't see the Titans winning out anyways.

MODS, I know everyone is up with all that's happened. But is it possible to consolidate all these AJ threads (at least the more recent ones)? Too much repetition occurs and the continuity of thought is lost. Thanks.:)

Simply shut him down until the playoffs. Can't justify running the risk of not having AJ in our first ever playoff game. At least one will be at home and even if we have to go on the road the next week he's earned the right to experience this.

shut him down until the playoffs? You saw how sluggish he looked against Jacksonville. He needs to get in game shape, not playing for almost an entire season will put him in good shape for the playoffs. I hope he can play in atleast the last 2 games of the season just to get in shape and hopefully test the hammy a bit. I really feel sorry for the guy I know he wants to kill it right now. He looked destroyed after they help him off the field.

Or get injured again:stirpot:.

Not to mention Tennessee plays the Saints next sunday, that will help us out.

I get that he needs the reps to get back in game shape but with four more games left I don't think we've got the time for him to heal and get in game shape. We'll be lucky if he can just heal and be able to go come playoffs.

Of course it's all speculation on our part. We don't know what AJ feels like or when he'll be ready.

I won't be buying into the "save him" talks. Our season tickets were expensive so I'll be expecting our high-dollar stars to play if not injured. Also, Andre looked average out there. He needs reps.

Keep in mind that 1/2 of all hamstring strains will be reinjured within 1 year. But, more strikingly, 1/3 of all hamstring strains will be reinjured within the 1st two weeks after return to activity. Putting AJ back on the field in 2 weeks will not guarantee that he will play in any playoff game. Remember, he must now be considered as being treated for and rehabbing from two separate hamstring injuries.

On the other hand, letting him rest until the playoffs does not guarantee freedom from reinjury, but it does guarantee him more time to heal, and that he deservedly sees the field at least one playoff game.........whether he completes it or not. Under either of these scenarios do I expect him to be crisp as before his 1st injury?........No..........and that will not be entirely based on the fact that he will have been out of shape. IF he is able to return to the Andre that we have known, it is unrealistic to believe that will happen before next season.

Then, of course, he's Superman, right?

This is my perspective. My entertainment is not more important than putting the team in the best position to win a playoff game. And he certainly deserves a chance to play at least one post season game in his likely HoF career.

It's not our decision as fans and paying customers, though. It's ultimately on AJ, Kubiak, and the training staff, to make the best decision for the player and team.

Playoff success trumps expensive season tickets ..... :kitten:

:mcnugget: Not unsurprisingly, I missed y'alls convo....

Wait! What?? Won't be buying into saving AJ for the playoffs? We're expecting our stars to be playing, irrespective of their injuries? Color me completely lost on this conversation....

You're in a position where you can sit AJ out for a couple/few weeks!!! DO IT!!! I don't care how much your tix set you back. The chance he comes back later on in the playoff run, the better.

But he should be 100% come next season right ?

The only reason I would think bringing him back before the playoffs would be if the game against the Titans would give us the best record in the AFC. If we get to that game, and are in the position to clinch home field for the playoffs, we need Andre on the field if the training staff and him feel comfortable.

I realize how hamstring injuries are prone to recur, but you can't play scared. If home field is on the line, we should seize every opportunity to take it. I can't imagine how opposing teams will deal with Reliant Stadium if the fans put on the same performance they did against the Falcons.

Agreed. It will take him 2 games before he is back.

I don't know how your "irrespective of their injuries" comment pertains to my post.

I can buy a "resting your starters" thing in week 17 but I expect us to be out there entertaining the crowd. *Especially* Andre who looks as rusty as can be after missing several weeks. There's a lot of season left in 4 games. Keep the engine running, keeping it nice and warm. A cold engine all but guarantees an early exit.

I myself am partial to a G-string without the anchovies.:tiphat:

Ummmm .... Never mind.

I was gonna make a very crude joke about anchovies and them being fish, and you wanting a G string without and how that would be a guy ...

Then I remembered I'm a girl ...

man I spend way too much time on this board, I wonder what's going on at Southern Living?

Kimmy, I was trying to be subtle, but you saw right through it!:chef:

This is good news. Lots of rest, build him back up and get the hammy ready.

Because he needs to be ready to go BEAST MODE in the playoffs.

But he should be 100% come next season right ?

I'm hoping just like everyone else. If he had the classic surgical repair of the originally injured tendon, I would feel quite confident of that. With this somewhat "experimental" approach, the ultimate outcome is dependent on if and how much effect the total release of the tendon might have on the ultimate strength of the group of hamstring muscles and stability of the knee in general. If the aforementioned concerns do not materialize, he should be able to come back as Superman. We won't know for sure until sometime between training camp and next season.

Well re-read it bro, because I think you may have gotten the wrong message!

We should be able to sweep next 4 and then playoffs get tough. A month would sure help AJ get better.

The bold is what really bothers me about bringing him back before he's 101% ready ..... I dont want to see him suffer an injury that could compramise the remainder of his career by bringing him back when he's just not ready.

While I hope you're right, I'm thinking we'll slip up somewhere along the way. Most likely this weekend in Cincy or against that dang Cam Newton.

I say that we play our best if they are healthy enough to be on the field in game shape. We need to get the first week bye in the playoffs and rest the starters that week. This is our last tough game of the season and if we win this weekend we have a very good chance of winning out just on the back of our run game.

Bottom line is, whenever AJ returns this year it will be at noticeably less than 100% and likely to be short lived...

And Doc likes fish.

I say give him one week off then get him back in the line-up for 50% of the plays and let him get his legs under him that's why he pulled the hamstring that was second game back and he isn't in game shape it's obvious.

I would say u bring him back for a few snaps for the Indy game then a few more for Tennessee if he is up to it. U want him in football shape for the playoffs

I will go along with Doc's recommendations.

Rest is the most prudent way for a hamstring to heal. So rushing him back out there would be kinda stupid. IMHO, Game shape or no game shape.

man I spend way too much time on this board, I wonder what's going on at Southern Living?

Paula Dean has come out with a low calorie home-made Mac-N-Cheese.. In the words of the great Vince Lombardi: "What the hell is going on around here??!?!?"

I also thought he looked sluggish in the Jax game. After stating this, a bunch of these folks decided to bum rush me and my post and decimate my rep power (not that I care). I'm glad to see I'm not the only person with rose clored glasses when it comes to AJ. Let the guy rest and heal all the way. We've been winning without him. No sense destroying him when we can make it to the playoffs and let him be healed for that.
