Kyle Orton released...

Please go get him Rick Smith! Kyle Orton is way better than any of the FAs that worked out this week.

His salary would likely keep us from picking him up. The Bears can pick him up though, and I'm sure they will be happy to have him back.

Stupid. Man, what do the Broncos have to gain by flat out releasing him? Should've kept him to trade next year.

With the money owed on his contract, it will be interesting to see if any team claims him outright or rolls the dice that they can get him off the FA pile once he clears waivers.

I'm uncertain who owns the tiebreaker between the Texans and Bears for waiver wire priority.

I think he'll clear waivers then go to the Bears, but I would love him on Houston. We have a ton of weapons for him.

Would you want to go to a team that traded you to Denver for another QB? I would rather go somewhere else and let them rot.

Damn, I forgot about KC. With Tyler Palko's badtastic performance last night, I could see the Chiefs claiming Orton to be their starting quarterback.

He isn't under contract next year. Tebow is the only QB they have who will still be under contract, which is why they have to give him an honest look.

Why do some of you guys think that every player waiver is better than what we have and we just need to go sign him??

Orton sucks. Yates is much better that Orton.

The Texans brought in 5 QB's for workouts. Obviously they agree with us.

Orton has about 2-3 million left in salary this year, so they can save that money by letting another team claim him. There are enough QB needy teams to pick him up, but I think his remaining salary would put the Texans over the cap.

I think Alan Burge found a link that the Texans were 1.9 million under the cap.

Think I heard Orton salary is 2.2 million.(not sure if that would be this years cap hit or over life of his contract)

But I could be wrong

Yes PLZZZ pick him up quick before Chicago or KC does ......

wait didnt he used to play in CHI yeah they would want him

Rotoworld is claiming Orton's agent is already talking with the Bears. So if he clears waivers, expect the Bears to resign him.

But I'm hoping the Texans claim him!

The interesting twist on the Kyle Orton release is Houston and Chicago are 7-3, but Houston has the priority waiver claim over Chicago

Fate worse than death: Colts claim him and start him with zero knowledge of their offense over the final six weeks of the season.

Please not to the Texans. Do we really want a guy that lost his starting job to 2-completions-per-game Tim Tebow? :hmmm:

Just hearing or seeing Tebow's name is getting just as frigging irratating as Farve's name used to be. I can't stand him anymore.

What Tebow is doing is both awesome and hilarious. He's trolling the NFL. I wish the guy well.

I guess he doesn't fit their system anymore, being he isn't a running QB.

I think he could start for a bunch of teams and be an upgrade.

But he's Tim Tebow....

rhymes with
"Him a Hero"
:spin:

I think releasing him was the decent thing to do if Denver knew Orton wasn't gonna see the field again and they had no intention of signing him next season.

Same way we cut HWWNBM loose in '07.

For the Broncos, it's a possibility to get out of having to pay him $2.5 million dollars. If no one claims him, they still have to pay but it's not like he was going to play, anyway. But if someone does claim him, the new team picks up the contract and the Broncos are free of it.

So...we passed up Orton and Chicago is claiming him? I noticed a lot of teams ahead of Chicago skipped the chance to get Orton.

That's interesting. I have an indifference toward the guy. I just find it interesting that he was chosen than late in the waiver wire order.

I look at the waiver wire list and, outside of K.C. and maybe us, I can't think of a single team that needed to pick him (and his salary) up for the last six games.

Who did you think missed out..??

Edit: unless you're implying there was some sort of unspoken agreement among GMs to let him slide to the Bears...

KC, Cowboys, Bears put claims in.

Supposedly Orton tried to put the word out to the Chiefs that he would not report if they claimed him.

Oh, the drama!

Does he not want to collect the rest of this season's paycheck? Don't really see how he has a choice here.

I feel that four of the first five teams on that waiver wire order could have potentially wanted him over whatever they've got at QB2.
