The Texans promote LB Mister Alexander from practice squad to the roster and add free agent linebacker Derrell Smith to the practice squad

Lolololol, I want what his parents were smoking back when he was born. Some athletes have ridiculous names but they become athletes because in the corporate world. They would be punchlines.

His father chose it because Mister abbreviated is MR, something his father determined would stand for "Mentally Ready.":tiphat:

I liked how he looked at Fla St.

A little undersized, but he was always around the ball. (Good speed)

Tex Seminole can give us a scouting report.

He may have played around 225 at Florida State but NFL Draft Scout has him at 6'3" 242 lbs. That's at least as big as Lawrence Taylor in his prime.

If his parents are not born Americans it may have been a cultural confusion.

My brother in law's legal first name is Master because of a confusion between his parents and the nursing staff.

I could see why that would happen in a country more directly British in culture than America. Many American Black families, attempt to name kids something truly unique for a variety of reasons.

More broadly he is from Houston, and for those who think we take the safe route only, he does have an "arrest" and bunches of injury in his background.

He's gonna need to play. Sharpton definitely spelled Ryans and Dobbins looks like nothing more than a teams guy. Here's your shot big guy.

Both Mister & Derrell went undrafted. measureables typical of tweener classification but both can work way into the right situations in NFL. I hate to use a word like downgrade but you can address LB with late round & yes even undrafted prospects @ LB. Mister is your typical SAM, pass rushing/cover LB while Derrell is an undersized SAM, not a WILL. As both transition into Wade Phillips 3-4 both should thrive in different ILB roles. Good football players, good football moves by front office :)

Mister Alexander is not even in the top 5 of the really hilarious names of NFL players.

Here is my top 5 in reverse order:

5. Captain Munnerlyn: We have seen a KING(Dunlap) and a couple of MAJORs(why go with only a Captain?)

4. Craphonso Thorpe: His play fit his name...Crap

3. Dick Butkis: A HOF and good guy, but cmon. DICK BUTKISS?!

2.Frosty Rucker: Naming a kid after a secondary Christmas character?

1. Taco Wallace: Always bad news naming a kid after a food!

Guess you don't remember Harry Colon.

Mister was always a quality special teamer, but really only got extended PT in the defense in his senior year. He was used at the LOS alot in a 4-3 under. I wouldn't say he was or is undersized at all, he is actually pretty big. He's tall at 6' 3", so he looks lanky but he isn't.

He's a big hitter. He is very good in run support or when coming up to make tackles on short routes. Where he struggles is in coverage over the middle of the field. He's pretty good in the flats, but he does not exhibit good footwork in the middle. He's a pretty good blitzer, so I could see us using him outside more than inside.

Another thing to note is that Mister was a leader at FSU, even though he only had one real year of playing time. I think that should speak a little bit about his character.

I was almost hoping that he had gotten into trouble cracking heads........not accidentally failing to appear in court, having already payed the fines. Dang, the Texans just can't shake the "soft" label. When are we finally going to pick up a murderer?........or at least maybe just a good ole wife beater?..........come on now, we ought to be able to find one somewhere out there.........:)

According to the Jags, and their simpering media, we already have a pair in Cushing and Brown.

What did you think about H.B. Blades?

Never mind, didn't realized he was drafted in the 2007 draft by the Redskins & wasn't able to get on the field other than special teams.

I thought he came out a couple of years ago... not 5

I will give Taco Wallace a pass because it's just a nickname. His real name is Lawrence. Therefore he shouldn't be on the list.

Oddly enough, a family that used to live next door had a son named Mister. Probably in his early teens right about now. Thought it was really weird back then, too.
