kinda funny

how the natl media doesn't give any credit or news to the texans beating down the titans to take over 1st in the division.

i think its funny just bc, if the texans did lose this game, they'd be all over this game. yet we dont hear anything bc we won. we didn't even rank in peter kings top 15 teams.

its also kinda funny because literally every espn analyst chose tenn. to win

Who cares, really?

We've been mentioned a lot in the past 3 years as a potential playoff contender. Only to piss it away by mid-season.

As a Texans fan, if you're clammoring for "National attention" after the crap we've seen the past couple years then you're just being an attention whore

No offense to the OP

I've always thought that the media "bias" was really just because we Texans fans are touchy and over-sensitive.

But a friend of mine who lives in LA has decided to root for the Texans this season. (He grew up in Houston but was never an Oiler fan. He moved away from Houston back in the mid-80's and when his sister moved to St. Louis, he became a bit of a Rams fan. But although he likes footbal, he's not hardcore about it.) And he's been going NUTS about how hard it is to see highlights and good press about the Texans.

He's more pissed off about it than I am.

He said he was watching the news last night and they showed highlights from some games and then they went to the scoreboard showing the "other" games... and they forgot to even include the Texans. They just mentioned the score in passing. 41-7. No highlights, no score.

He was ticked off.

Respect comes with true success. Like playoff appearances at the very least.

The Texans haven't done jack squat in ten years.

Until they start making real waves in the post season, I'm not going to fault anyone for overlooking them.

im not clammoring for national attention, i jsut think its funny that the broncos dolphins game is the headliner for the week...i know tebow is starting but cmon, the two teams had 1 win combined.

the texans titans game was a huge game for the AFC south, and it wasnt even talked about

I forgot what show I was watching. One of the "analyst" said, "we'll talk Texans & Titans when we get back."

The other "analyst" said, "Do we have to?"

Nobody wants to talk about us, win or lose. Had we lost a third in a row, yeah they'd have talked about us, a little.

Let's get to the AFC Championship game & make some noise, they'll talk about us then.

Who cares what talking heads on either coast think? Why is it so important to have their respect? I just care about the Texans winning games...

I have been to tons of sports stores in LA to find Texans stuff and none of them have it.

It is not like they only carry a few teams either, basically every other team.

Anybody else tired of hearing about Tebow. I agree if the Texans continue to win we will get our time, but really does it matter?

We can't even get highlights here in Austin. Thank goodness they are showing the games and have been pretty steadily the last few seasons.

I was starved for any Texans related news for years, that's how I found this MB. They don't even show Texans Huddle here. When I go visit my mom I am in heaven with actual sports segments covering the Texans on the nightly news.

It's a little better here now but not by much.

Like we care about the national media... If we can continue to win, that's all I care about because you're right... The crap over the last "several" years, no one should consider the Texans anything but what they've been.... Mediocre.

Take care of business against JAX and Cleveland, go into Tampa and win that... The Texans will gain some national attention.

I hope that's not too harsh, I may get negative repped again from Scooter. :hides:

Well, people in LA are ****ing stupid, so that shouldn't be taken as a very accurate representation of things.

Hell, all you have to do is go to San Antonio to find a dearth of Texans gears. it's all Cowpies, all the time.

You know what I thought was "kinda funny"?

While I am posting this I am a little scared of "Scooters" wrath, (afterall, he may neg. rep. me again)

I will say this... THAT's Freakin hilarious!!!

*Looks for shelter from 'Scooter's wrath"

#Hashtag, Ignorant douche.bags!!!

To paraphrase a post I made somewhere else:

In breaking news, the Houston Texans beat Green Bay in the Super Bowl. Now we move on to Tim Tebow and Payton Manning. This will be followed by a lengthy discussion on Cam Newton versus Tom Brady. More when ESPN returns.

Bro, its because we've been the "sexy" pick at the beginning of EVERY season for the past few years and EVERY season we take a crap in our pants instead of win ball games.

Why give a team big time exposure and respect when all they do is blow it?

Wins and playoff appearances will fix it if its that important to you. Personally, Im completely ok flying under the radar, that way when we do end up blowing it, it wont be that big of a deal.

J/K. But seriously, who gives a crap. Win ball games. Get exposure. Its that simple.

we would have had a boat load of attention had we not stunk it up against the ravens. we havent proved anything yet, and like most of the guys on the board realize, everytime weve had a chance to make a statement we come up short.

Whoops, thought you were talking anout the Jets or Eagles but I guess not?

They get attention because they are a dream team or have a loud mouth coach.

Let Brandon Marshall say something stupid & watch what kind of attention they get.

I'm not complaining about not hearing about us but c'mon, we are 4-3. Right there with other teams and they can't even put us in their montage mixes of highlights. What the hell is that? Instead all we hear about is how bad The Eagles are playing. We hear more about an at the moment non-relevant team, instead of a division leader? Yet Cowboys finally win and now we are speaking of how great a game Tony Romo played and interviewing Murray and talking about winning the division. Arian Foster goes for 3 TDs and over 234 combined yards and we hear nothing of it.

The first thing I thought when I was reading this thread was the Tebow hoopla. And you're right. A winless Miami vs. winless Denver game got way more coverage than it deserved thanks to Timmy.

It's overboard. I think he's a nice kid, but I'm starting to root against him just to shut the media up about him. It reminds me of the VY crapola spewed all over Houston for years.

Are they filming Jersey Shore in Nashville now?!

It reminds me of the VY crapola spewed all over Houston for years.

Bingo!

I was a VY fan and even so I got sick of all the people calling into sports radio with their fantasyland Vince takes.

The Tebow following is eerily reminiscent of the VY phenomenon---an atypical quarterback who confounds the experts by winning games in spite of his shortcomings in mechanics and reading defenses. History repeats.

All I saw Monday was Tebow this Tebow that....you knew that was going to happen .....

It did not surprise me. If we keep winning we will eventually. I said this before.....National Media will go with the dramatic wins....like the Miami vs Denver game ....especially with someone like Tebow playing..( I could care less) versus our game...its just the way it is.....

Lets get on a roll ...and win the south....then they cant ignore us........

The Texans gave them dramatic wins last year: Jacksonville, Baltimore...

I'm not exactly disagreeing with you, but I think it's worth considering that championship teams don't fly under the radar. You see them coming and they whip your butt anyway.

I'd say the Packers flew under the radar last year, considering they only got in because the Giants are stupid and half their team was injured. I'd also say the Mavericks flew under the radar last year, considering they played the defending ***** Lakers, then the upstart Sonics, then the holy grail Heat and caught everyone by surprised because, for some reason, nobody knows who Dirk Nowitzki is.

And no, I'm not comparing this team to the Packers or Mavericks.. Just saying that championship teams don't always fly on the radar and whoop you anyway.

Just saying that championship teams don't always fly on the radar and whoop you anyway.

No. Not always.

But the Packers the season before they won it all were 11-5.

The Mavericks the season before they won it all won 57 games.

The Steelers, year in and year out, are championship quality.

The Colts, year in and year out, are championship quality. (this season being the exception, obviously)

The Patriots, year in and year out, are championship quality.

The only team that recently truly sneaked up on people and won it all was the New Orleans Saints. They had only gone .500 the year before. But, even so, they won 13 games that season---so how much is that sneaking?

Again, I understand the thinking and I don't altogether disagree with it. But, all things being equal, I'd prefer to be rooting for the team that everyone knows is championship quality, sneaks up on nobody, and yet holds a clinic every Sunday.
