Richard Quinn Profile

The Houston Texans tried out former Denver Broncos second-round tight end Richard Quinn today as well as five other players, according to a league source.

Quinn was waived-injured by the Broncos this year.

He has also worked out for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints this season.

The Texans also tried out tight ends Charles Davis, Daniel Hardy and Gijon Robinson.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson was auditioned as well as former West Virginia wide receiver Wes Lyons.

Lyons is a 6-foot-8, 230-pounder who has spent time on the Steelers' practice squad.

I guess we are signing this dude if we've already had him work out twice...
:heh:

I actually know Gijon Robinson. Hes a family friend. I hope we sign him... Free tickets for me :kingkong:

This team needs more TEs like Christopher Walken needs more Cowbell!!

Isn't the point of most of the workouts to scout potential players for future purposes (moreso than looking for players to sign right now)? Being that the Texans have an offense so reliant on a specific type of tight end, Smith is doing a necessary job assessing available talent.

Can't we go out and sign some unemployed NBA player who's 7'2" and have him run fade routes in the end zone? I hear those guys are looking for work, and there's just no way in hell a 6'0 CB is going to even get a hand on the ball in that situation.

I hate to break it to you, but the players do not get free tickets to the game. They have to buy them just like we do. If the game is in town then they get the tickets at the season ticket holders prices. If the game is out of town then they pay face value of the tickets in that city.

Yep...

And a lot of the times they seats aren't even that great...

You know how some famous Texas players end up going into the agriculture business when they retire such as Earl Campbell Sausage, and Nolan Ryan Steaks.. I am pretty sure Kubiak is going to end up running some sort of Tight End Ranch for retired TE's or something. Probably have the annual TE Rodeo with TE roping or something.

Well...At least we'd have another play in our RZ arsenal besides OD across the middle...:kitten:

What's somewhat disconcerting is that in college he commonly rode the bench with crutches and/or a boot........not to mention, that in his entire college career, he never caught a TD pass.......

Player do get free tickets, but just a couple each. They then get the right as you describe to purchase other tickets at face value.

It looks like Kubiak is focusing on acquiring a TE.

The first thing I wonder is if we're trying to make a trade. TE is a position we have a little depth in (relatively), and Dreesen has value.

The article also mentions working out A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, and West Virginia WR Wes Lyons. Lyons is 6'8", 230 lbs.

I don't know if they were trying out Johnson as a WR or QB.

I believe the Trading Deadline has passed.
